AGS Please do something about ammunition

I don’t understand why Musket and Bow users get penalized for using those weapons? Orichalcum arrows are >2g each on my server, 500 arrows is over 1200g. I can go through 500 arrows in 1 -2 expeditions easy and in 1 war i can go through almost 1k. Why do no other weapons have a mechanic that cost them thousands of gold?

My recommended fix would be have unlimited ammo, but perhaps people would have to purchase/craft items that upgrade their unlimited ammo to star metal then to orichalcum and those items would never go away and could be crafted (maybe even make them need repair but pref not). Something like an Orichalcum quiver.

The point isn’t making the game more casual, but that musket and bow players are unnecessarily punished financially for choosing those weapons. Here’s a thought experiment, how would you feel if AGS decided to add a consumable for melee weapons, let’s call it grip tape, that is consumed on every attack? Does objecting to such a move mean you support the game being more casual?

Yes, the extra cost for doing the same DPS is not normal

500 arrows in 1-2 expeditions? no way i waste close to half that… anyway arrows should be free or unlimited

Don’t you guys hit for like 7-9k crits?

Those crits don’t come cheap.

Yup, 500+ coin per stack of ammo, and the “bug fix” 20% damage reduction is pretty disenfranchising. There are players who leveled engineering to get bows like warpwood, spent 10’s of thousands of coin, and literal days of material farming and processing, only to get the rug ripped out from under them with the insane ammo prices.

With the bots stripping resources, high level refined materials like orichalcum ingots become exponentially more expensive. Also, for how large ironwood trees are, how the hell does a spear take 13 planks, or a x50 stack of arrows take 2 planks?

@Mayimbe yeah, I can drop a 9k crit, if i dodge roll, hold left click for 2 seconds, manage not to get rooted or slapped, and estimate the range and trajectory on a moving target. Its doable, but its not happening every shot, not by a long shot, and definitely not in PVP unless the desynch gods grace me, and the target is wearing toiletpaper armor.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned the insulting 2 iron arrows or 3 iron cartridges that are all that can be found in chests regardless of how high level the zone is. Bad enough that you only get a couple but it seems somebody may have forgotten to upgrade them to higher tier versions when they copy pasted drop tables around.

Lol I didn’t mean to sound like a dick or anything. I been a healer the whole time I played New world and just recently started leveling up bow to give it a shot.

The quiver idea is really neat. Maybe the upfront price might be high, but an unlimited arrow quiver would be great.

Or if they don’t want to move away from this, at least lower the amount of crafting materials required. They could even make it scale with the Engineering profession (ex. a 200 Engineer can craft Orichalcum Arrows x500 for the normal price of x50 if you were lvl150).

It seems like they’re requiring some type of “resource” for ranged DPS while melee doesn’t have to use any resource. For mage it’s mana and for bow/musket it’s ammo. But the amount of mana a mage uses vs ammo… is not even comparable.

Yep, and they should also remove the unfair armor repair cost that tanks have.

300 con should provide 75% repair cost reduction.

Imagine purchasing matches for your fire staff :fire:

if opponent is in light armor you do a dodge roll do the incredibly long strong attack and manage to hit someone in the head with a bow yea you could probably do that dmg but the likelihood of getting that combo off is incredibly slim my friend.

You make up for that cost by needing to repair less, buy less health potions and never worry about mana potions. It’s fine the way it is.
