Yeah based on my experience I don’t believe they have removed scaling. Around level 30 it starts to feel pretty flat fighting anyone up to 60.
my experience is different perhaps it may be due to a few dungeon runs and bumps to watermark and gs but there is a definite powerspike that occurs.
granted it doesn’t take any 60mmore than a few hours to reach those power gains but the difference is noticeable.
it could be fresh 60s vs 30s the scaling is tuned right I definitely felt more challenged like that early on.
but soon as the bumps came so did the power creep.
it’s not fun on either side of that equation imo.
most important is the longitudinal effect of established veterans and any newcomers.
pvp scenes need to have a low barrier to entry. devs have done a decent job w the leveling and gearing to get there but really should just scale it or make advancement through the faction system the default pathway for pvp.
the sooner ppl get into pvp that seek that content the better.
I don’t understand ppl who gatekeep in pvp it’s almost as if they prefer to hunt victims to bully than fight someone who can put up a challenge.
Nah
Refering to FFSes 1 day xD
Scaling was better as an anti-bully mechanism
They incentivize 60s to gank level 20s/30s by rewarding them.
And you cant fight back without scaling bc you die in 3 attacks and you do 5% of their hp in damage when you hit them. Which takes 20 hits.
They had scaling to keep the world pvp fair for people who have lives/jobs/less sweat in their armpits.
Then they removed scaling to protect the fragile egos of the 60 bullies who prefer no challenge when griefing low levels.
Yes, yes I have nothing better to do on 60 lvl than chasing 20-30 lvls. Best content ever.
open world GS scaling to 600 like opr and arena, more accessibility to pvp is never a bad thing
OWPVP is dead, on your fresh start will be soon. And not because of lack gs scaling.
Got ganked twice in 5 min last night. I am a low level.
First was 2 purp 60s, then i respawned and a minute after i left town a new purp 60 ganked me…
When i called them desperate they said thats the game if you dont like it flag off…
Im slow to level bc im trying to enjoy the new questing experience and i have a life outside the pc.
I cant imagine being so pathetic and honorless to gank low levels for a power trip but theres some sad, lonely, miserable people out there who enjoy ganking lowbies with no challenge whatsoever. Scaling made them cry so ags removed it to protect the 60s fragile egos. Ags encourages, incentives toxic griefing with these decisions.
I told them “go pick on someone your own level” and i felt like a kid getting bullied by older kids lol. 60s can just pvp eachother, they dont need to dominate low levels, scaling helped stop that bullying.
That being said, i refuse to flag off bc i do enjoy world pvp while leveling against people near my level!
Well that happends, also… against 2 players with assasin builds you will lose anyway… ofc if they know what they are doing( very often I am not even able to move). Players in MMO unfortunetly are toxic, in Wars, Oprs and arenas they will be counterchecked.
@ Edit. By ganking I understand they totally suprised you from the back.
I’ve yet to encounter the system that doesn’t encourage avoidance.
Why should we bother to change your mind?
Scaling is fundamentally a paradox. It tries to make progression both relevant and irrelevant at the same time. Any implementation will be subjective and not enough people will ever be satisfied with the implementation, certainly not enough to stop the endless complaints.
Best solution - delete PvP altogether. immediately gets rid of most forums complaints and nonsense suggestions.
Well for comparison, a 32 attacked me (tried to gank me from behind) when i was lvl 28…and i started whooping his monkey ass and he fled and i was like yea thats right this is my dragon glory and it felt gooooooood
The 60 just chunked my hp for 1500 dmg per hit and i was dead in 2 seconds lol
I dont care if they bring back scaling bc eventually i wil hit 60 but just popped in here to agree with op that it was better for the world pvp scene
well you see there’s this thing called horizontal progression and this game was building in that direction.
You are correct in that it’s a paradox from the PoV of pve oriented players who expect vertical progression in all aspects of the game.
what should have been done was keep the system in place for pvp content and the system that was created w gs and mutations in the last 9 mos specifically tailored toward pve content.
deleting the boards would solve nothing, ags would still come outta left field w ideas noone even asked for like auto pots.
Ok thats fine you are having good time, to the topic progression 1-60 lasts too short to even bother about that, after month they will be deadzones with maybe few players on them. Just keep flagging play on your own pace, always set a camp before entering zone, so even if someone kill you u will be able to come back really fast, avoid bigger groups outnumber fights in this game are really hard, but really hard.
Oh i know lol, but new world is a cakewalk… I came from elden ring and mortalonline2 before returning to nw…now those games griefed me!
The only reason why they want add autopots is : create other sinks for sulfer and sand. Runes, and gems you can make in 2-3 days after reaching 60 lvl and there are no further reasons stoop for them.
I dont think scaling is very fun
The scaling isn’t really all that helpful.
The GS is only a tiny part of the equation. Lvl 60 players have far better gear perks, and if they have PvP gear it is even more dramatic. Then there is the Weapon level difference. Combined that means the 60 likely has a dozen or more item/skill perks the lowbie doesn’t. When a single perk can add 10% crit chance, or 50% to a weapon, or grit, it means it will still not be even close to balanced.
Scaling for open world PvP was very healthy and forced a lot of players to come to terms with the fact that either they were bad at PvP, or New World was actually a different type of game before they removed it, and that their “grind PvE to get good at PvP” antics would not work here.
One of the most appealing aspects of any game that has manual combat, semi-manual combat, or anything that veers away from tab-targeting and mostly automated combat, is that a person’s success is almost entirely in their own hands, even when dealing with other players in PvP.
It was a really nice time period where gankers would have it turned on them, with them becoming the ganked if who ever they tried to take down was better at the game than them. On top of that, it showed that you -CAN- have an MMO type game where gear is less of a contributing factor than player ability.
Hopefully one day they bring it back.
