AGS should patch faster to change the meta more frequently. (PVP perspective)

Yes, nerf most decent weapon in the game even more to ensure this weapon is simply dead… IMO rapier is very skill-expressing when you actually use it for fighting, it’s hard to pull-off good plays, or at least not that easy to be effective as Gaxe or Gsword left click spam

Likely…and just as likely that the actual majority are pure-play PvE.

No kidding, no - the vast majority of the player base has no interest in no-lifing that kind of grind every 1, 2, or 3 months.

I get where you’re coming from, but in my opinion this kind of change would piss off far more players than it potentially benefits…including most PvPers, I would imagine.

OK, I guess you didn’t read it right. I said change, not nerf :wink: I mean i said it but not the whole weapon, or maybe I get ur post wrong then sry.
Nerf the utility abilities, the dmg ability should be buffed.
The whole right tree is in comparison to the left tree too strong or not? For example, the Healer who uses the rapier only as secondary for mobility should be nerfed; not much for sure just so that other weapon combos are not so bad anymore when it comes to Survivability. The main Rapier player should get buffed. How? I don’t know I just point out what is in my opinion to op compared to the other weapons.

I come from MMO, and I have played my whole life long 100 of MMO, and I can tell you when there is nothing to grind for, the casual players are the first ones who leaf and play another game. I played with many casual players, and sure they say they don’t want to grind again and again, but this is how an MMO works or worked. And at the end, all of the players I talked to were happy about the changes because they had something to do. When there is nothing to do, and no new content comes, I promise you the casual player are the first who leaves. And 2-3 month time is way way more as enough or not?
Sure there are other opinions as well but from what I heard a dynamic endgame is better than just a static one.

Rapier utility already got nerfed man. It’s a shell of its former self. Imo it needs buffs to both sides of the tree at this point with all the GS running around.

If you still think rapier utility is OP (especially with a healer) it’s a skill issue

There should be small incremental changes every 2 weeks because many of the proposed changes are as simple as changing a damage slider.

For example this week we are buffing pillar of fire damage by 5% and nerfing gravity well damage by 5%.

Or nerfing power through pain hammer passive by 5% and buffing rapier flurry by 5%. That way there are small incremental changes.

I see the issue of that x is good and PvE therefore is left untouched, but we are still in a 20-25 bruiser PvP war meta. Talk about a snooze fest.

Tanks still are not viable for PvP and the reality is that many other games do PvE far better than New World. Guilds and social aspect are one of the few things keeping this game going.

There is far more money to be made catering to PvPers at this point than PvErs because all the playerbase are jumping ship when Ashes of Creation and the Leauge of Legends MMORPG comes out in 2-3 years.

New World is just a waiting room at this point until some better changes are made to impact the PvP meta. Many players want to come back but refuse to come back because war meta is still 20-30 bruisers.

So the small 10k players you are pan handling too are causing you to miss out on literally 100,000 people more just to put it into perspective.

Rapier already got nerfed with mobility, you can’t change it more in any way, nerfing mobility also affects damage dealers, buffong damage… not the best idea… You can chunk half of health of medium armor bruisers just with riloste, heavy amd Evade light, light armor dies from this combo, Blood tree has also insane burst damage

The reason why in war meta rapier will never be that good is because it has no grit or big AoE abilities.

Give fleche grit and it will be more viable at least as a DPS option. Maybe when daggers come out as an assassin rapier/daggers will be good but even then there are only 5 assassin slots anyways.

By the way, guys. I didn’t write the post to talk about which weapon should be fixed, buffed or nerfed. I wanted to point out that I would like to see a more dynamic endgame. Don’t have to be like 2-3 weeks, but for example, every 2-3 months, a new meta comes. (what rhymes is right!)

No you’re not wrong, AGS has been doing see saw balancing for the entirety of their development cycle.

When in reality it should be constant adjustments to the damage sliders every 2 weeks.

Because the issue is we are in a meta for 3 months to 6 months and people quit the game because of it because either something is too strong for too long or gets nerfed for too long.

But such meta fluidity is also not good, I can’t image someone changing builds every month let’s say, just to follow the trends

Not to mention that some build would get canceled/unreliable/unbalanced, every correctly made build should be reliable the same, there shouldn’t be power shifts towards specific gameplay

What is a good meta in your opinion?

I personally like the dota 2 style of balancing. If everything is strong therefore everything is good.

League of legends balancing and new world balancing, and wow balancing = flavor of the month, there is a clear meta of what is good and what is bad;. Certain things are clearly more busted ( like in League of Legends new champions are almost always busted beyond belief) to encourage sales of the champion and associated skins) This system is corrupt to the core and drives players away from the game, when in reality you have more to gain by trying to achieve balance than catering to your small subset.

So how can you possibly achieve that balance with a PvP balance patch every 6 months or every quarter?

First of: LoL is a MOBA game with much different combat mechanics
Second: LoL has shitloads of items combination, runes combination and over 160 unique champions with their own stats, balancing this game is much harder than New World where you only have bunch of perks and 2 skill trees

Sure a perfectly balanced game would be insanely nice. But there is no such game. And even with such a game in a 50 vs 50 war, there will always be a meta and in my opinion, like I said it would benefit the game when this meta changes from time to time.
I mean just look at the warhorns. what the hell!

Give them a break dude, they are focused on finishing the engine and game before they tackle PvP in a meaningful way.

In the best case, this meta changes from alone in a balanced game because you have combs that are better again other combs and so on and on. But at the moment, it has been completely the same for a year or so.

Nah changing the damage slider every 2 weeks by a couple of percents is probably the easiest thing they could do. RIP firestaff.

Well I agree it sounds easy… you have to have someone on the team that knows how to balance an MMO like this across: PvP and pve, hitscan + ranged + melee, magic plus war equipment. Gear. Etc.
