You’re wrong big dawg, having a VPN in VA wont do anything. You’re still at the same same distance.
I believe Amazon will ban your account for using a VM, there was a post long ago.
Eitherway, nothing will decrease your ping. I’m in TX. I have gigabit, my down is 950/950 up, using your fast car analogy, I should be getting way better ping, right? Since I’m the faster car, no.
Think of ping as you’re in a fast or slow car, whatever, but because the distance from WI to VA is longer than say a neighbor town in VA to server town in VA. You are going to see more traffic, red lights, than the latter.
I’m not even going to mention packet loss that’s going to blow your mind.
well you’re further away so car analogy stands homie…think about it.
I’m done explaining bud. Think what you will. Good luck.
At this point I think you’re trolling.
im not trolling wtf? i legit dont see why you would say that. dudes throwing in variables like traffic and stuff. how am I trolling? he’s getting the same ping as me with almost 1GB and not complaining but how many ppl has he talked to with lower pings further away.
just being dismissive of the idea that a company would throttle some ppl vs others is trolling? dont like it hit another thread damn.
you too enjoy being throttled by AGS
Amazon is not throttling you. You are throttling yourself bud. Do a bit research on who is on the AGS team. Probably a bunch of AWS veterans. If they can’t make your ping any faster, nobody ever can, for now. AWS invented the internet in so many ways. Things like CDN, Load Balancing.
If you want faster pings, just keep positing asking Amazon to put a server in US Central, or move to where the server is.
Also, ping sometimes have to do with the underlying game engine they’re running on. So I assume that’s why they’re moving to Unreal 4 instead of their own.
A VPN is basically to hide your real location/identity it doesn’t make your signal travel faster to somewhere else. As stated, you still have distance. Your signal is still going from your original location to the VPN in VA. Also, as stated, you are actually adding more “stops” along the way for your signal so you probably made it slower (or at least not faster) doing this.
Adding a VPN to your network is never “faster” ever. Not even in normal situations where you’re not playing games.
Your download “Speed” is not how fast you send packets to places Flux. It’s your maximum bandwidth, or, how many packets you can send at a single time.
In other words, you can send many more cars down the road at a time with more bandwidth IE upgrading to 500. But your cars are still going the same speed and distance. That’s what he was trying to say.
VPN doesn’t change that either, because your packets still have to travel the entire distance, since a VPN is only a tunnel - it still has to travel the same distance that you did.
The only way around that, would be as someone else suggested running a computer close to the server to get minimal ping, and then remote linking into that computer from your home. The only issue with that scenario is you would still have the same latency from your house, to the computer that was close to the server. IE it would take the same amount of time for your mouse clicks to make their way to AGS.
I hope that this explanation sheds a little bit of light on the situation.
TLDR: Nothing you do, will reduce the amount of time for a packet containing your mouse click to make it to AGS. Aside from moving closer*
My credentials: I make really good bologna sandwiches
So… what your saying is according to my 0% packet loss I have a fast car and a free lane of travel but you still want to cook me bologna sandwiches? makes sense.
Yes.
thanks for the insight!
I too have ping issues, mine hovers around 75 like yours on Orofena, but someone i know that lives much much closer has 30ms. Our company is pretty spread out but the pattern does seem like the further we are away from the server the higher the latency. Without any real strong outliers, so that’s the metric i use.
im 700 miles away from the server thats not that far… bro im telling you I can see my ping trying to go lower and it gets throttled… im not trolling i dont care what ppl say. somethings not right. This is the only game i have an issue with as well so not sure what all the car this and packet that sh*!t is about.
Ping or RTT, they’re different
This game offers RTT and when the servers under heavier load your RTT will go up.
The only way to reduce your RTT is to move closer to the server or play in a lesser populated area in game or the game to operate… Better
Bologna sandwich is worse then SPAM imo
there are bigger games with less resources out there… why is everyone so quick to dismiss this? just a need to be right? great community… sure helps to make things better by ignoring problems and bullying ppl who have them.
Because you don’t read and ingest the replies
