Adding a VPN to your network is never “faster” ever. Not even in normal situations where you’re not playing games.
Your download “Speed” is not how fast you send packets to places Flux. It’s your maximum bandwidth, or, how many packets you can send at a single time.
In other words, you can send many more cars down the road at a time with more bandwidth IE upgrading to 500. But your cars are still going the same speed and distance. That’s what he was trying to say.
VPN doesn’t change that either, because your packets still have to travel the entire distance, since a VPN is only a tunnel - it still has to travel the same distance that you did.
The only way around that, would be as someone else suggested running a computer close to the server to get minimal ping, and then remote linking into that computer from your home. The only issue with that scenario is you would still have the same latency from your house, to the computer that was close to the server. IE it would take the same amount of time for your mouse clicks to make their way to AGS.
I hope that this explanation sheds a little bit of light on the situation.
TLDR: Nothing you do, will reduce the amount of time for a packet containing your mouse click to make it to AGS. Aside from moving closer*
My credentials: I make really good bologna sandwiches
So… what your saying is according to my 0% packet loss I have a fast car and a free lane of travel but you still want to cook me bologna sandwiches? makes sense.
Yes.
thanks for the insight!
I too have ping issues, mine hovers around 75 like yours on Orofena, but someone i know that lives much much closer has 30ms. Our company is pretty spread out but the pattern does seem like the further we are away from the server the higher the latency. Without any real strong outliers, so that’s the metric i use.
im 700 miles away from the server thats not that far… bro im telling you I can see my ping trying to go lower and it gets throttled… im not trolling i dont care what ppl say. somethings not right. This is the only game i have an issue with as well so not sure what all the car this and packet that sh*!t is about.
Ping or RTT, they’re different
This game offers RTT and when the servers under heavier load your RTT will go up.
The only way to reduce your RTT is to move closer to the server or play in a lesser populated area in game or the game to operate… Better
Bologna sandwich is worse then SPAM imo
there are bigger games with less resources out there… why is everyone so quick to dismiss this? just a need to be right? great community… sure helps to make things better by ignoring problems and bullying ppl who have them.
Because you don’t read and ingest the replies
attack me more that will solve it.

Give us a traceRT to another IP address that’s located in Virginia AWS data center for us to help you
Give us another TRACERT to New world and post the compare results

us? bro who are you? tech from ags is helping me … kinda. so who are you?
If they’re helping you why are you posting here?
It’s totally true this game is worse than others when it comes to lag/latency/ping issues etc. This game is horrible in that regard but it has nothing to do with your VPN. That’s what everyone is trying to get through to you but you don’t want to listen. A VPN will not fix it and AGS is not intentionally throttling your ping. They just have a crappy system overall that causes a ton of issues for a ton of people. I wish they had so much control over the game they could intentionally throttle ping because it would mean they were in control but the reality they can barely keep the game functioning day to day lol.
Still embarassing. ![]()
You take that back!
Bologna is the superior reconstituted food meat product!
Ping = speed of car
download speed = width of road
Having a wide road doesn’t make your car go faster.
Although in this case, “ping” between your house and the target server jumps through a bunch of intermediary routing stations, and they all have an impact on what the final ping is. The route from your house to AGS server may not be the same as someone the next town over, so ping can differ even if you’re relatively close to someone. It isn’t as simple a thing as you’re attempting to make it out to be.
