AGS, we are customers and deserve communication!

This is also good news. Might I suggest taking a page from what has been successful for other games?

-If there is not a position on the development team whose purpose is to be on those conference calls, be in those meetings, to relay the concerns collected from the forums and other sources so the team can weigh those concerns with their priorities and design, that is a big void waiting to be filled. If that position does exist (or is spread among numerous people) a regular communication from them is very helpful, particularly now after launch when so many things are moving at once. Some other developers have weekly posts, official updates, YouTube videos, or some even have podcasts. Some of those would obviously be longer-term goals, but a few can be started now. Example: there used to be a message on the main menu of the game with the current status of server transfers. That is now gone and hasn’t been replaced with new information anywhere.

-There is currently a pinned list of Known Issues, but this list is not kept up-to-date. If players should reference this for issues it is presently no help, but it could be.

-I think improvements to the way that players officially report problems of an individual nature (their character is bugged, it was deleted, something wrong with their own account) could be made. Presently, there is no in-game way to create a ticket of any kind. The “feedback” feature seems like a suggestion box, and the “Help” button that takes players to a support page is part FAQ, with a less than obvious ticket system. I think an improved way for players to directly create tickets for their specific issues would be a good step.

-Once an official acknowledgment is made on a particular issue here on the forums that is kept up to date, it’s appropriate to lock threads and direct those in a final post to said updated official post. Currently, there are piles of posts about many of the same issues where perhaps only 1 thread among them all has an official response. Just as the Community Managers have trouble sifting through every post about the same issue, so do players.

There is a happy medium to be found. Most people don’t expect every single post to be answered, but only one side of the fence here has the ability to provide any kind of information. There are times when saying the tactful equivalent of “we have no new information and we’re working on it” is appropriate. Particularly major, on-going issues whose status or outcome is not clear. Example: the current status of server transfers (which I know you’ve addressed above, but could use a more visible place for everyone else). The message on the main menu that was later removed makes it seem like this issue is just now in the void somewhere.

Thanks again for engaging people directly, and being receptive to constructive changes.

Haha, I think you are wise to call out that we have to frame expectations.
I think being predictable and consistent in how and where we communicate will prevent folks from expecting me to be aware of an involved in all threads.
I am working with Trevzor and Lux on establishing communication mechanisms that work at scale and can be regular ways to stay updated.

Please keep us updated. Even if you just post on a regular basis about the high priority bugs/projects will be helpful.
Ideally we would also have a livestream with devs/community managers much like the Battlestate devs do it for Escape from Tarkov, including streamers if you wish - this is very welcome

There is an Official News section of the forum. Use it.

Thanks for replying. There are many players suffering from the invincibility exploit in the war and really want to know the priority of this exploit to the team.

How can you type this and not update people in the official topic for server transfers ? What are we looking at, days weeks months? This is by far the most important topic however there hasn’t been anything official posted about this in like 5 days. That’s not okay. Just a short update, anything will do to calm people down. But no word about it on the news channel is not okay.

Most people just want to get updated on the matter. Even if you have nothing specific to say about it. Just say you’re working on the matter and expect news to be “” or expect the function to be live in “”.

Ps everyone can see you’re putting in the effort to communicate and that’s very much appreciated, everyone’s hard work is appreciated. Just use the official news channel to update us regularly please.

The bugs with War, specifically the Ice Gauntlet lag and invulnerability exploits are a top priority for the team, we have fixes for them and are finishing testing.

Among all things, this will assist your team and players more than anything, even if having to communicate bad news.

The server transfer is also a top priority for us, we are working to get the persistence issue resolved and reactivate transfers as soon as possible. Hopefully it is a matter of days, not weeks, before they are made available again.

Based on the past experience, is there maintenance tomorrow?

@NW_Mugsy Please make a list of, top 20 priority list.
don’t write one by one like my girlfriend

We are working toward a weekly patch, once we have a confirmed release window we’ll post an announcement.

I really like the idea of seeing a roadmap, even something very high level, just to know where the game is heading.

Something simple would be enough for me. Something along the lines of the goal is to provide new content ‘X’ times year with the goal of new territories being added in every ‘Y’ updates as well as new features or systems or… No need for a specific review, I think we all enjoy the surprise that comes when we get to see a new shiny thing being added, but knowing that the new shiny thing is coming and when we should expect it would be nice. :+1:

:beers:

Get a load of this guy

First I dont play 8 to 10 hours any day. Stop assuming. Second, yes I expect major issues to include overtime and weekends.

That would be so great.

I think both for players and for AGS.

Even a small patch says to players “game was patched” and can help you guys stay ahead of fixes.

There’s plenty already being said, so I just wanted to give you guys an working example from a franchise/dev that is doing a awesome job with communication.

Please, do check how Starbase and Frozenbyte (Developer) is doing their communication. To me it’s awesome and the best that I have seen so far.

Here’s a direct example:

I do play that game and it has so many bugs and I never felt like not playing it because of exploits or anything because they make the players feel like the DEV team are aware, working and being very accountable.

There’s plenty more examples on their forum, discord and so on, please try to check it and maybe get something for your own foundation on how you guys will provide rapport to the community regarding issues.

@NW_Mugsy can we get some communication on this topic?

I agree, I also play this game and appreciate the frequent updates. Frozenbyte takes it to another level with the charts of progress, which isn’t quite necessary, but if they willing to provide that information it’s very helpful for players.

Another example I’d like to put forth is from Rocketwerkz on their game Stationeers (and to a lesser degree Icarus). Their communication on updates using Steam and Discord are fantastic. Below is an example of using player feedback along with an update announcement:

-Another avenue…DISCORD. I just realized today there does not appear to be an official Discord server for New World. Someone please correct me if this is not true, but I cannot tell you how many games I’ve followed where the best, most up to date information is provided through Discord; a platform nearly every gamer is already using. One of the best functions here, as well, is that most have a help channel where players can find useful information. Yes, NW has an in-game Help channel, but as we have all seen before some people choose to use it as a place to troll or just carry on completely irrelevant conversations. At least on a Discord server this could be moderated to keep discussion Help-related as best as possible.

Of course these examples are from projects with teams that have more experience, but not all of their projects have existed for longer. This kind of consistent information that players can look forward to in known places is very helpful. Something for your team to consider.

When are you going to fix basic stuff in the game, like the armor working correctly ?
