And the fact that they didn’t even have the courage to announce this in the monthly YouTube “Dev Video”, makes matters even worse.

When did they say this? Leaderboards have always been separate from an MMR or ELO based system. His statement two days ago is nothing new, that’s been the plan the entire time. (Unless I missed something!)

Those are NOT leaderboards…

When players ask for leaderboards, this is not what they meant. This is a data tracker… that’s it. Leaderboards in mmos and other games is an MMR and ranking system. Which would be appropriate for 3v3s, 5v5s, OPR, etc. as soon as you bring in statistics for pve and crafting that just makes it feel like AGS is so disconnected with their player base. Exclusive rewards for random stat tracking is a huge mistake.

PVP Leaderboards Miss the Mark

The current design of the leaderboards completely misses the mark. No one cares about the arbitrary scoring system for ranking players in War, Arena, and OPR, and nobodies wants the rewards dished out based on who can stat pad the hardest. Using experience from other PVP games I know exactly how these boards will play out if they are released as is. Players will abuse the system to stat pad to the top of the leaderboards and take the rewards. This can easily be done through collusion or through…
