The haste isn’t super useful imo. Both the weapon perk and the passive from the tree.

True. I never had big issues with the VB cooldown personally so its probably fine as it is. But it does need some love in some way though. There is just no way to really survive with a VB versus other melees right now.

Same, I can usually reset the cooldown for it fairly easily. I also like the theme of it where it’s pulled out and used in windows to punish a misplay or misposition.

I really hope they don’t buff fire staff, I feel like it’s in a perfect place right now tbh

That’s why I’m really hoping they take a look at this post and at least consider some of it… right now the only viable “Offensive”/“Damage” mage is Firestaff. Ig/Vg are only used as offhand/support weapons, if Ig/Vg offensive capabilities were tuned we would hopefully start seeing different mage builds running around.

It was turned on, it got scaled down, because builds like SNS+Ice one shot appeared.

I main fartstaff and the only ability that does damage with that weapon is the flamethrower.

fireball - is ok tho any good player can easily iframe it most of the time
incinerate - anyone that gets hit with this ability are just bots
meteor - troll
burnout - only useable if youre meters away from anyone, easily disrupted hit a flint and youll prolly trip on your own
pillar of fire - this ability for me does 2k - 2.5k crit while my heavy attack can do up to 1.8k - 2.2k crit on same light target so theres really no reason for me as to why i would waste points for this ability over the flamethrower that can consistently do 500-1000 damage per tick and has no cooldown.

Im doing kinda ok with my fartstaff atm but its all thanks to my secondary weapon. All my fartstaff do is do the 10% initial damage then switch to my secondary weapon which does all the 80% damage then switch back to my fartstaff to finish the 10% hp.

The only reason im still maining fartstaff atm is I just like staves in any mmo i play.
Just kill the flamethrower ability please and buff or do some changes for the other abilities.

From someone who plays light melee and just having a bit of fun with voidblade lately, the pain is you cant weapon swap back. Theres just so much setup needed to try and lock on someone its not reliable

Light/heavy is pretty easy to hit and does huge damage 2-4k per shot, fireball is easy to dodge the first one but has a very short cd and again massive damage.

But the main thing that makes fs strong is the essentially permanent 10% fortify perk that becomes 30-35% if paired with ig. Throw in some armor and gems and fs/ig is basically at fort cap. all the time. I’ve seen fs/ig light mages absolutely facetank burst that would destroy even a medium melee.

I have just recently bought the game and I have been playing FS+IG/VG since about lvl 30 and have lvl 20 on all those weapons.

I have amassed all gear specifically for that build but today I decided to give it a go to melee weapons and the melee is the clear winner.

Even with weapons at level 8 and spare gear I put away in the previous weeks I can 2 shot mobs that would require 3 abilities and a few shots from a FS.

For me, at least in PvE, FS is absolutely trash compared to melee.

PvE yes it is bad I’m talking about PvP.

As someone who uses Void Blade as main damage, I just want 2 things…

  1. FIX THE TRACKING/HIT REGISTRATION/ANIMATION LOCK HOLY CRAP ITS BAD… I’ve been messing with sword/shield and hatchet and they are ridiculously better. It just feels like smooth combat using those. With the Void Blade I feel like I’m a pinball in a pinball machine rubber banding all over.
  2. Taking the Void Blade perk should make the blade either on all the time, or the default of the weapon. One option is that when activating the ability, it will make the vg ranged attack for 15s instead of melee attack. In other words, flip the abilities. The people who take Void Blade use it for the main damage of the weapon. The current state makes us unable to switch weapons on demand and use certain heartrune gems because it cancels the void blade. Also, it’s quite frustrating when you try to activate void blade, and for some random reason it doesn’t. This could be lag, in the middle of another ability, you were staggered/stunned during it, whatever… Then you go to attack and you throw a ranged attack. So you try to activate Void Blade again but it doesn’t go off because you were mid ranged attack, so you throw another ranged attack instead and you are stuck in a loop until you have to basically pause just so you can make sure Void Blade triggers correctly. Please add ability queue to this. Or when you think you are stuck in one of these loops and you accidentally hit it twice and now it’s on CD for 15s… I could ramble forever on why we need the blade as a default… Please do it.

try with orb and spike, there’s a lil back-and-forth rotation that you do with it weaving melee(voidblade) in with mid range spike/orb kiting, it’s a blast

I discovered that today, i need practice on spike for sure, but giving up oblivion is tough because ive worked out the best way to use it againat GS/hatchet to strip the GS buffs if im in trouble or strip berserk if i was on top and finish them

yeah. More reasons why Flamethrower has less utility than VB

buffing ig is kinda hard actually, because even if u running only 5 int u gain full benefit from entomb and shower, ig is pretty much a utility weapon and unless u main ice spike, you don’t need high int.

That’s def the hardest match up, I usually just go for outbursting the GS and then when they swap to Hatchet kite them out and let your ticks kill them from VG or plop an Ice storm on them
