Are there any plans to actually handle all the global chat harassment? What’s the point of playing the game if anytime a person posts literally anything. Some idiots gets on and screams about your price or comment. Nothing in this game is moderated and it’s just devolved the remaining community into a bunch of children harassing each-other at every turn without consequence, unless you get mass reported. Which is usually a coordinated effort by a single company. No one wants to log into an MMO just to be harassed for speaking in chat. It’s killing the game, or what’s left of it. Disable global chats of all kind so we are forced to be in the same area at least. Instead of forcing us to see everything at all times. I shouldn’t have to turn off trade chat or any other chat because it’s become unbearable. It shouldn’t be a thing in the first place. I have over 200 people blocked in game. So when does it end? Or is this it…?

Clearly not effective. Disabling chat altogether is the only way to avoid toxicity atm. Did you not read that I currently have over 200 players blocked? At what point are we just playing solo or with our small companies since the masses can’t get along, or feel the need to follow the ToS? This is an MMO, and that experience is being ruined by people who don’t use channels as intended. Walls of texts/hate speech… just popping up all over. A lot of the people i’ve played with have had to disable global and other chats. Just to stop seeing all the nonsense. That in itself is sad. I know special needs players who literally can’t talk without harassment for spelling errors and more. We need moderation.
There is now a trade channel, and for the last two days it’s had nothing to do with trade. It’s just a lot of players yelling at each-other about someones price or how much money they have and linking gear to flex how strong they are. I feel like you haven’t played recently to make that statement. Since trade does now exist.
I have maybe 3 people blocked that were spamming inapproporiate things, I chat in global chat frequently, and never have this issue you are talking about. Whats wrong with your pricing? What do you consider as toxic? People unfortunately have the ability to say things we don’t like…the only person who can let that effect them, is their own self. Use area chat if people are spamming in global. Use only your company chat if you think everyone else is toxic.
Maybe look inward the issue might reside inside there?

No one is asking for censorship. Moderation and censorship are wildly different. I’d also argue you aren’t on Castle of Steel. Which has been insanely toxic and has a larger population than most servers. Also please explain why special needs players should get attacked for spelling errors and it’s there fault for not blocking the player who is openly harassing them. At one point a player dropped the “N” word and played unscathed for weeks after. I have taken screenshots of it all and sadly have over 50 unique scenarios exposing the random toxicity. I genuinely believe all it would take is a moderator in game to whisper the people getting out of line or just dropping a simple statement in chat to keep it in line with the respective channel.
I mean… People have the right to respond when a price seems unfair to them. I mean, this has actually been an issue on my server before and I appreciate that people say something to potentially warn other players that might not know better that they may be getting conned.
Edit: Clear toxicity is something else… And I don’t know anything about your server. But people still have the right to dispute the prices being offered.
Did you know it is allowed to stop reading the chat any time you like? You aren’t forced to keep reading what other people have to say. Especially if its negative, you should just ignore that and keep on playing. If the chat has you that bent backwards, just leaving it off will reduce a lot of your stress and anxiety.
Yes I do have an account on Castle of Steel actually. I have not witnessed anything that you are talking about. I have never been “harrassed.”
If you are getting “harrassed” just completely ignore them and stop talking in the chat. You have nothing to prove to them, so just let them wallow in their own toxicity. Don’t let that have any effect on you brother.
It’s clear just from these replies that it wont be handled. Weird how strongly you defend hate speech and pretend the person it’s directed at should turn there eyes away and ignore it. As if it’s there fault for not pre-emptively blocking toxic players. All we’d need is moderation, but the simple suggestion is being drowned out. And with that. Enjoy your community. I got nothing else.

I’m just a proud supporter of the Freedom of Speech. If someone was being racist or making real threats, they have breeched the ToS and need to be removed from the game obviously. But someone telling you that your prices are too high, or that your character is a noob, is just people being people.
If someone says something racist or similar, take a screenshot and post it on the forums. They will get banned forsure.
Honestly, a lot of people just seem to be upset they get called out and can’t take advantage of people anymore. Not saying that is what OP is doing, it just sounds strangely suspicious to complain about people arguing about the prices being advertised in chat.
no i still play. i don’t use any of the chat functions with the exception of faction and company tho.
pretty much use discord for everything else.
if there is now a trade channel and you don’t like the way it functions, then feel free to avoid it or block players as needed.
Or just not pay attention to it? Idk why this is an issue and you want to censor chat… I don’t even notice chat when playing anymore unless I am looking or selling.
