All post I see is about Nerf this and that

Everyone in the forum either complaining about how OP Melee is and how OP is Range (Musket / Bow) and how OP healer’s heals are. this is the same in every mmorpg forum

wtf! when are y’all gonna be contented? if this melee user getting F by a range, they will complain in the forum to nerf range, and if the range user is getting F by a melee, they will complain in the forum to nerf melee, and also if the melee or range can’t kill healers, they will complain to nerf healer.

can’t it be sometimes you just suck and face a stronger or good pvp player that really knows how to use their skills when to dodge, hit, etc. sometimes you need to accept that truth that you can’t always win jeez.

its true there are some perks that need rework that are op in pvp but fine for pve.
hard to balance both

Maybe players have a point that weapon balance is all over the place and 99.99% of the posts are right? Yeah no, the game is absolutely perfectly balanced for PvE and PvP. Yep.

Maybe, just maybe, there is a reason you see a lot of those topics on the forums. Its a wild theory, but it might be a possibility.

Communication from AGS is piss poor and when the “balance dev” comes out and says firestaff needs to be nerfed because he cant 1v3 firestaff users something is very wrong.

well melee is crazy op in terms of cc - youre being slowed, stun locked and so on which is just annoying as fuck.

range is op because it does way too much damage with a hitscan weapon that just can sit on a rock across the map.

both things need to be locked at imo

I’m a new player, I’ve hit lvl 56 last evening. All i see on forums and in game (Calvassus FSS) is non-stop running commentary of bullshit. Nerf this, nerf that, game ded, f yellows f greens f purples, need more pvp content, gib more pve content… It’s disheartening honestly. People moan kick and scream saying there’s no new player influx not realising that it is in fact their own baby tantrums here on forums and in game itself. Not saying game is issue free, but god sake…

And when AGS finally get their shit together and bring out solo instances and raid content in PvE then tanks are gonna be complaining they cant control the enemies effectively enough because cc is totally skewed from being nerfed or reworked into something ridiculous in PvP and when DPS try to burn down the enemies they will be complaining they cant hit the DPS check or certain weapons will be ignored in endgame PvE content because, yet again, AGS decide to nerf the weapons, mainly ranged weapons currently (I am looking at you FS) into the ground to suit a PvP agenda when clearly this game was reworked into a PvE game.

If nerf after nerf continues to satisfy a PvP agenda, when more PvE endgame content is finally released and the larger PvE playerbase cannot work well in those endgame modes I wonder how long before they will start to revert or buff those weapons again?

The reason there are so many posts about balance is because the overall balance in New World is absolute garbage. Melee is extremely oppressive and ranged (mostly Musket) deals way too much damage from a safe distance. Obviously this is a massive generalization, but their current combat team seems to have no idea how to properly keep both sides in check and the game fun at the same time.

Balance is by far New World‘s weakest aspect and the great combat system that could‘ve easily been used as a massive selling point for the longest time is now an afterthought. That‘s why there are that many posts about it.

In my opinion, every weapon should feel as amazing as the GS currently does, when you use them, but each in their own way. This is how I imagine one of the weapons:

Ice Gauntlet: A master of controlling your enemy’s environment, roots, slows, attack speed de-buffs, and a build up to a powerful finisher via Ice Spike, or a slower building but deadly freeze via Ice Shower and Ice Storm and then Wind Chill’s final tick drops an avalanche of damage or a weak but fast mini-gun like Ice Pylon, that must be protected because after it has lived 3/4ths of its life starts shooting giant exploding icicles that heavily damage the main target, lightly damage the enemies around the main target with the fragments that leave a lingering slow. To protect the yourself, when you stand in your ice effects, which each offensive ability leaves near the affected enemy or AoE abilities leave in their area of effect, small ice scales grow over you, which transform the longer you stand there to great scales that absorb incoming damage and status effects, but slows you in this state because ice is dangerous to everyone!

It’s what happens to game that try to cater to pvp and pve with the same skill set and listen to the pvpers…

I would rather see buff’s to weapons that are “underperforming” rather than nerf’s to existing weapons that are “overperforming”.

In the end nerf’s never feel good, also perspectives matter…

I think the most important point you made is that all the game mode’s need to feel fun (and feel viable) no matter what weapon you’re playing.

i think they should just seperate pvp and pve - that way they arent bound by any pvp meta bullshit and can make these weapons actually fun for pve

People will ignore this point, but it’s a good one. the problem is the people not the loadout.

Give a good player FS and watch. Same with everything else.

The confusion happens with tunnel vision, “seeing” all muskets, all bows, or all melee, or all healers, or all whatever as OP due to good players being good with it.

Something might be broken/bugged after patches (or all the time haha), but it’s the person behind the loadout that makes it OP
