This, it was obvious in beta. The design and content in this shell of a game can’t be fixed.
All the comparisons made me finally try RuneScape and it's 100X more fun with 100X more things to do
AHAHA MAN BEST TIMES XD
I still remember lying around waiting for rezzes for HOURS cause it was still better than dying, losing a freaking level, being undergeared again and then run the whole dangerous path a 2nd time ahaha
But games back then were like this. That’s why it’s funny when they say “omg 30% luck forPvP’ers”
Man in my days you could get PK’d at anytime, lose your whole inventory AND potentially lose a part of your mainequip you worked a freaking week for
Different generation xD
But the difference is like. It felt rewarding as hell right. We didn’t mind to wait for 1h for a party, then run 30min and then play for 2-3h, because it felt sooo damn rewarding. It felt so good to level up, get some gear, find these new astounishing places.
While here everything feels more like a dread. The dawn and sunset, the sound, the possibility to move at least a little (sadly not like Souls) is what makes this game enjoyable. But it all feels somewhat like gaited to become a chore, and instead of heading in a direction to make the game more enjoyable. They do the opposite XD
Everything just becomes an even bigger chore lel.
Haha! FF11 was the first mmo I ever played. I was a big ff fan back then. I played it for a while one afternoon until I realised I needed a group of players to fight I little white rabbit. I then quit and played the SWG demo.
I hate horizontal progression otherwise I may
FFXIV has a ton of polished content, but at the same time it really lacks the feeling of a world. While I hate much of New World and the way it has been handled, it at least feels like a place. FFXIV feels like a bunch of set pieces it’s so zoned. But shit tons of people like it I just couldn’t stick with it.
WoW had zero content in the first months, same as new world. Battleground was added ages later compared to release. PvP had no meaning at start. A couple of dungeons and an easy raid that was made in under a week.
New world has more or less same number of dungeons as classic (some instanced, some overworld) and wars and invasions since start.
All mmos launch without proper end game content.
If you wanna compare two games at launch, maybe you should’ve been at wow’s launch, because you clearly weren’t.
You’ve described the paths for each faction. It was pretty difficult to get 60 on either faction without questing in at LEAST Western Plaguelands, Burning Steppes Eastern Plague Lands. You didn’t even address your claim that a new raid was released 2 months into development.
I guess what I’m saying is you are remembering what you want to remember and comparing that to the state of this game at release. I don’t think there’s value in that comparison.
Yea I tried it once but it was backthen when the story was more a freaking book without all the voice acting it has now. I’ll honestly just skip the first part, watch some yt vids on story and how to do rotations and proceed from there to the more fun part. I’ve wasted enough time nolifing this here.
One of the major things putting me off from NW was the sheer blatant view of wasting peoples time. Like everything is gaited in this game since release. Either from higher ups or from the gamestyle itself. Not to mention all the dupes basically spitting in your face whenever you go out and farm for some 1-10k coins lol.
While people say FFXIV insanely values your time that you actually put in. And it’s rising steadily
I still hope NW gets their act together, maybe they will change the dev team completely or so, but for I’ve no trust in them doing anything for the playerbase
From my prespective WoW didn’t have so much content at launch.
There were no pvp mode. just open world pvp and thats all.
Very few dungeons and 2 raids that was no good either.
Maybe new world missing 1-2 raids but apart from that i see no difference.
We can talk about the quality of the content that was superior in WoW even if i didnt like the game i have to admin it.
From a PVE perspective, which I am mostly a PVE player, NW has launched with the smallest amount of content I have ever seen an MMO launch with.
2 dungeons that most people really don’t have access to
Some Elite zones that are so boring most people don’t even want to do them. They were more fun pre-tedium patch.
Endless mindless harvesting for resources to raise all the trade skills.
Housing.
I guess loot box faming is content?
Thats about it from a PVE perspective.
If you include from the PVP side of things…
I think AGS was banking on most people taking part in territory wars all the time. I don’t think that happens but I may just not notice it happening as much as it might be.
There is also invasions which are probably more PVE oriented but a lot of players don’t get the opportunity to do those even if they wanted to and from I see they fail most of the time. Outpost rush. Haven’t tried it but I want to someday.
Some of these have been down, too lagged, and or exploited.
Thats a pretty small amount of content in my opinion. The small amount of content they do have is mostly gated.
Still its occupying my time. Mostly because I farm hemp all day to level armorsmithing so I can make my own void bent. Eventually I will finish it. Then I have no idea what I am going to do. I don’t even really care about the armor. Its not top end. I just think it looks cool and I made this goal for myself just so that I could have something to do.
A game that I have to force a goal on myself to play is not a game that’s fun. I want to waste time in a game but I don’t want a game to waste my time. New World in all honesty just wastes my time. None of this is fun.
Leveling was fun up until about 30 or 40. After that the newness had worn off and was replaced by repetitiveness. Nothing is really memorable in the quests outside of a few things. The leveling dungeons were fun to do once or twice. Haven’t even done the last two yet because I haven’t done any watermark yet. Its not fun to do so I have mostly avoided it. The times I have done some elite zones I haven’t gotten crap. When I did get something it was light armor and I wear heavy or I got some weapon types I don’t use. Complete waste of my time.
Still here I am. Probably because I am disabled and don’t have much else I can do. Also my wife plays with me and that’s a plus. She loves harvesting and stuff like that. I don’t mind it. Its just that I use it to level my own stuff, not make money. Its so much tedious grind that it pisses me off more than creates fun.
Why are you defending this Game? The speed of clearing has nothing to do with amount of things to do. This is a classic fallacy. 2 endgame dungeons. 1 repeatable pvp event. That’s it.
Blatant time gating players at this point because they are way behind on their development timeline. Why are they behind? Because of the dumpster fire they have created and subsequently made worse with each patch.
They are throwing roadblocks to buy time to try to figure out how to unfuck this disaster.
It had 14 dungeons and 1 raid at launch. But okay keep lying liar
It’s not a matter of Perspective. You are simply wrong.
WoW had 40 zones, compared to New Worlds 14
The zones themselves are similar in size.
WoW had thousands of quests, each zone ranging from maybe 50 to a couple of hundred. New world has a couple of Hundred max.
We have not even mentioned the content of each zone. Wow had unique enemy’s in every zone. You have hundreds of different enemy’s ranging from giant’s to Murlocks. New World has skeletons, zombies and ghost pirates.
Wow fashioned every city and town to be individualistic with lore to support them. Each with it’s own history. New World has copy and paste.
I can concede that at launch WoW didn’t have any Battlegrounds. However open world PVP in wow was thriving. You had massive raid parties attacking cites. You had enemy lines. It was engaging. I would go so far as to say it was the best thing about wow.
It didn’t take long for wow to add battlegrounds though, and when they did they had variety and were fun.
When I read this I question if you even played wow. They had over 20 dungeons. New World has what 5 or 6? I don’t know because I can not be arsed with grinding for hours to enter them.
As for the raids, this is what made wow famous. How can you say they were bad? Raids were Wow’s bragging rights. I personally didn’t raid, it’s not my thing, but I remember the people that did, loved them.
You must be blind! Or just willfully ignorant.
This isn’t a debate about quality. New World ‘should’ be better, it’s new, but it’s not, New World lacks the variety of wow. Games should progress, wow set the standard by growing from Everquest, then games like swtor, Guild Wars 2 and Eso raised the standard at least with questing and story telling.
New World has now lowered that standard back to wow levels. It’s almost as if they didn’t even look at other mmo’s.
New World is not without innovation though. Town boards are a great idea offering much in terms of content. New World improved on most mmo’s in almost everything. Graphics, sound, ambiance. It’s a great little world. The combat is good. I enjoy the game. But it’s weakness is the amount of content.
To claim New World has the same amount of content, or even similar to wow is like saying The Sex pistols had the same if not more albums that The Rolling stones. It’s just wrong. How you feel about those albums is not relevant and when you say 'from my perspective you sound like a millennial going on about ‘your truth’ as if truth and fact is subjective.
Edit:
Only 14? I stand corrected, I thought it was over 20. It’s still well over double that of New World.
dno wtf you on about. ppl have always played 15-18h a day. they do it today, they did it 20 years ago. the content thing has nothing to do with that at all.
back then most mmos werent pve centric so that was never an issue. it started to be an issue with wow and all the shitclones that followed it cos the endgame suddenly was some pve shit.
I have actually played RS3 and i still do. I play both from time to time… and yess the “bossing” Ahem botting is terrible is OSRS
The way i value it is regarding the time needed to finish the content,
I do not mind if they are many dungeons if the only people running was brd at that point.
The raids was poor from mechanics perpective.
But its normal to see it that way 16 years later.
The varietty of enemies and the more areas adds quality of the content.
When i time things regarding content i time it from fresh character until its almost full gear.
WoW end game raids had timers and new world dungeons thats the only end contenct, have keys. its just a mechanic to slow you down.
Ofcourse we compare a game released in 2004 and a game released in 2021. thats says it all.
I mean New World should be at stage that we make comparisons like that.but because people did it. I posted my opinion.
Regarding the open world pvp both new world and wow had it. New world had outpost a way earlier than WoW had BG. Also new World had War.
I am trying to be fair to both games.
i saw that some manager or something said it but i dont know the context. what is it
It was answer the a dev gave to a guy who made a post about getting 300k gold at the little giveaway they had last week
why go silently into the night
Anyone remember Ultma Online back in 1997 to 1998 that first year or two, even with the crappy lagging dail up connection that game had it all. Every game I play now I Always compare to it. Housing crafting dungeons private vendors at your house and the constant fear and adrenalin rush of being ganked for the ore you just mined.
