Alpha end game over 3 years ago was better than this

Exactly, Lineage handled it well!

I heard AGS started listening to a bunch of carebears who basically just want to play WoW vers. 100billion.

People who literally couldn’t PvP themselves out of a 1v1 if their gear depended on it.

All in the name of a larger audience.

Yet, they fully intended to go back to their original vision, but the carebears must be cared for, for they wine non-stop.

I’m still waiting for their next big announcement - you guys are gonna flip.

Guys, please just have some faith for once.

AGS is proving themselves to have created a game that we all love.

Old world sounds awesome, it could of been a great game if they just tweaked the system and made safe zones, and higher level zones/resources PVP forced, with the only items dropping on death the ones in your inventory. With that, an added 30% destroyed (in inventory) when you do die, to reduce market inflation. The old forts / no towns sounded awesome, a company could work together to collect the wood and what not to upgrade buildings, and not have random people reap the benefits, it would give more opportunity for smaller company’s to own territory, make their own money, or upgrade what they like. Would also give more people opportunity to participate in wars etc. For solo players who have no interest to play with others, there are games for you, not every MMO needs to cater to said players.

With changes like these not only would this help pvp, it would help the market, it would add content without really adding content. It would make working with your guild more important, it would make company’s less dependent on faction. For those worried about farming elite zones etc, they could add the elite areas as dungeon instances rather than having it open world. This would add challenging PVE content, rather than having 50 + people fight over elite mobs / bosses. This would then allow you to up the player capacity per server so it doesnt feel as dead, Less servers = more people joining your server and allowing lower level resources to be gathered and sold at an expected price and adding worth to higher tier resources. More people will buy from the market, you could add a small gold fee to buy items from another town and have it delivered to you by system, instead of bouncing around the map. With changes like these they could adjust crafting, make it harder to level, after lvl 200 keep it going, with increased bonuses or gear scores as you level higher. At the minute soon everyone will be able to craft everything at the same gear score. Make having people who want to dedicate themselves to crafting worth something, same with gathering.

Not saying this game had it right in alpha, but this game has so much opportunity to cater to both PVP and PVE players, and even have them working together (dedicated crafters, gatherers, pvpers) Its just sad having a vision of what this game could really turn into, and how easy it could be to make that happen, whilst also fixing a lot of issues in the process and IMO saving the player base that IS dwindling as more and more people hit 60. Just thoughts on it all.

After thought - make watermark visible so players can watch and understand their progression, Elite chest cooldowns on map?, lvl 60 experience gain towards internal luck or global bonuses (0.10 physical armor) per experience honor level (uncapped but balanced) something like that.

PvE players are not the ones whining on these forums.

Carebears does not = PvE

Wrong, NGE came about because SOE saw WoW success and wanted WoW type subscription numbers. It was doing just fine for what it was, a lot of people enjoyed it and it had a very active community. I can tell you probably never played it (live pre-nge). NGE made it wow-like, theme-park cookie cutter where everyone can be jedi chasing WoW success. That is where it failed. PVP based mmo’s do fail I agree, I just thought the OP particularly created a cool and fun image in my head and thought it was a good read. It wouldn’t last though.

Man, that sounds so awesome.

I love being in the game world, but PvP rarely happens and it is pointless, and I didn’t come here to kill dragons.

To be honest the alpha game would have instantly flopped with how the gaming community has evolved but in saying that the current game is complete trash uncompleted and the dev team is extremely incompetent going by how everything has unfolded so far

What a shame. Maybe someone will open private servers one day lol

  1. Remove Azoth costs to travel, we’re not in Korea, you don’t need us to run for hours to increase our internet bill and that way: no need for mounts. Originally the objective of no teleports was to risk loosing materials while running with it, what’s the point now since we can’t loose them? Make us waste time? Then at least allow travel with an empty inventory to be free.

SUDDENLY the encumbrance cost of azoth travel makes sense. Since we can’t drop out loots this really needs to be removed. All it does is make me never visit certain regions because the inventory management to reduce encumbrance cost is so bad. 3 houses and an inn = 4 regions I use.

yeah but albion lacks PVE content that is fun and fresh. As much as I love that game, it needs more balance, also I like the way new world is graphic/gameplay wise , its not like runescape over the head, it has detail and all that, not cartoony?

Or AGS could make PVE servers for carebears and create PVP enabled servers.

The issue with hardcore pvp mmos is they die.
AGS doesn’t want the game to die.
Thus, they caved.
I’d prefer a hardcore PvP game, I never turn my PvP off, but I am also aware enough to know almost all die out or have small populations and for new players it’s a hellscape of just being a victim.

Lineage 2 still has thousands of people playing it 18 years later and Alpha had some similarities with it.

It’s not about being hardcore PVP, it’s a combo of PVE/PVP and balancing them together.

Old World might have been too hardcore. New World has 0 open world PVP and has deep flaws in it’s core mechanics.

Maybe it’s not for you.

Maybe it wasn’t for QQ carebears whom traumatized AGS so badly they made a mess of the game?

As apposed to crybabies who can’t accept change? Maybe so… Maybe so.
How are you different from them?
“WAAAA, i DON’T LIKE THIS VERSION OF THE GAME, CHANGE IT FOR ME! WAAAAA!”
You make the same arguments as them, just in the opposite direction.
