Amazon just bought steam reviews?

Steam votes between November 19 and November 24 ( -) The server was under maintenance all day, people may have voted on steam as if they were bored and a little kidding. If this increase continues tomorrow and for a few more days with this broken state of the game, then it will arouse serious suspicion for me.

They would do it 3 days ago when the most negative reviews were made and it was main forum topic.
Are you suggesting they waited 3 days for biggest fuckup in history of mmorpg launches to post positive reviews?

More likely just people that enjoy the game leaving positive reviews to try and counter the review bomb incited on the forums. There are people out there putting hundreds of hours into this game that don’t feel the need to project hate onto the world for it.

The release happened 2 months ago. Kind Regards.

Of course they are buying reviews. Can anyone give a single logical reason why positive reviews would suddenly spike to 5x their previous daily rate?

Today?

With everything on fire?

At least today they have the sense to make them not public. 2 days ago you could see every 3rd review was 1 product in library.

Actually there is a logical reason. Those are not new reviews then though.

The steam awards started, and if you want the little badges you have to update your review which will remove it from earlier in the graph and move it to today. If you didn’t have one you make a new one and it has to be positive.

That explains all the 1 letter reviews or those saying they are only doing it for the reward.

Yes.

The people with 100+ hours have mostly negative reviews.

Weird thing is reading the reviews if you could call them that, people recommending the game and then saying its a walking simulator or its boring or once you get passed level 35 its dull and repetitive. Or just one word review.

Why are these people recommending a game that if you read what they wrote you wouldn’t believe they were recommending it but telling you either nothing or that its a boring horrible experience.

This seems to have hit the nail on the head. Few more examples:

No Man’s Sky:

Skyrim:

Valheim:

This is very consistent with what @Von_Stu presented.

Hmm, Valheim is legit though, I assure you. They had breakout popularity which explains the review spike. It’s a genuinely good game.

I’m not questioning that, i like it too. It just explains the spike in positive reviews across the board. The original post claims AWS bought reviews which would indicate that every developer and their dog out there did the same because their reviews spiked at the same time.

Make no mistake the core idea (not design) of new world is amazing, we all want it to be great. However, the design choices of management at AGS have ruined it for most of us. There are those that do still like it though.

It is completely believable that the review numbers, which are horrible compared to valheim or the other games, are legit.

I mean new world is barely 50% while the others are 99%. If I were an investor i would be aghast at this.

Lots of sales this upcoming holiday. Maybe it is a review bomb like a lot of game developers are using.

Too bad they can’t adjust “hours played”

Steam Charts - Tracking What’s Played

You can see how good it is by looking at the green going down.

I agree this game deserves the review score it has. It’s sad, I really like the base, it could be great.

Let’s show them the truth to the people that are thinking to buy it and se the reviews, i did it, when i started to play was like 8/10, now it s 4/10 and it s not going up but down down with every update , it’s like a chain of downfalls, negative from me.

They don’t like it, they just haven’t invested enough time into it yet.

It’s a crying shame MMO’s aren’t review locked until a month of ownership, obviously yes you’re right, there is every possibility they are legit as it’s very easy and enjoyable to play New World without enquiring or caring about what the future holds.

So, come back tomorrow to see is it good or not. Maybe NW deserves a little love.
