There was a Thanksgiving surprise event, an official end of year message, a winter solstice event (still going on) with a very cool meteor shower, and a change of music in game today.
They didn’t miss anything.

winter convergence is christmass and indeed i do enjoy it 
i however wouldnt mistake it with New Years another holiday such as halloween, winter convergence also only barely made it
the meteor shower you saw is part of winter convergence and occurs to signify the spawn of mine able nodes for the event nice as it is, its not part of new year ^^

are they using twitter as excuse for lacking a better website ? they do not even care enough to have their tweets listed on their own website not to mention first location to list information should be their own website not a random chat site… next event will be posted on google+ or facebook ? this is quite unprofessional… such sites can be used to advertise or entice players into trying it but shouldnt take precedence over their own site…
Christmas is as much new years as summer is halloween or easter the same as christmas…
accept copy paste events and you will only allow them to procrastinate further
and a company who plans to earn primarily on the in-game shop rather than subscriptions… this is a lost opportunity… by highlighting certain discounts or a skin only available for 12 or 24 hours, they entice players to buy it thinking they would need to wait another year and perhaps it wont ever return, the unknown factor sealing the deal. I honestly do not see why they let such an opportune moment go to waste.
Why do you even want to be in the game as it turns New Years? Wtf. Amazon assumes you’d be having real life fun.

They did say something, though it was subtle. Every town was playing Auld Lang Syne today. Yes that may be small, but small and subtle can feel more organic.

It’s really sad how much no news and good events that don’t exist, people from guilds are creating personal events to try make players have some fun, even they know better.

Can you list “Any” mmo before 2000? i’d like the names of a few.
Animations take a lot of time and work.
Amazon hires designers. Also, there are more then one type of designer(s). There is a major issue with animations as it is, i would not like them to commit resources to a game that is on the verge of “dying” for useless holiday nonsense.
Btw, I feel that such things should never be in games. Games should design their own holidays, way away from the ones we have in RL. It would make the game far better. Doing an xmas holiday with another name is not what i am talking about at all.
yea imagine… the only thing worse would be to waste ones time going to a forum just to say those words without context… imagine sitting around having nothing to do but be glum all the time to enter posts to say this is bad but refuse to name why.

Everquest is an example, but yes most mmo’s came between 2001-2005.
i am well aware that making a new animation does, however recycling an effect takes no time… if it where recycling of a character it would be a different matter but this only required recycling existing effects fully with changing position & trigger along with adjusting color, a task that would take roughly 1-2 hours by 1 person if it should look nice.
you know i am reffering to game design along with the ones in charge of handling the in-game store…
the first post was on the forums saying happy new years bud. The second one was twitter. So it was posted on both places. Sorry you cant figure that out.
I disagree. AGS did alot of stuf with this event.
- the meteor shower, presents on the side of the road
- yetis and caves
- snow in settlements and the aurora borealis in the sky
- fully decorated settlements
- settlement board quests specific to the Christmas holiday
- free full cosmetic set and furniture pieces in the game shop as a daily login gift
- lots of cosmetics in the game-shop holiday related
- a vendor with holiday inspired stuf, from weapons blueprints, furniture, emotes and even pets
- tree of light in the settlements
- very low rent on houses (this was extended because of the holidays)
- 15 presents each day that give you winter tokens and coin (and 1 silver bar rofl), and expertise bumps from diamond gypsum you get for free.
- event food with scalable stats
Winter convergence was a success and I’m looking froward to other events in the future.

But the game performs very poorly. I would agree if the foundation was fixed and the game worked well.

Those are part of the winter event and have nothing whatsoever to do with new year…
you would not compare easter & halloween either right ? -.-
your job does not consider them the same either i can guarantee you that much… they are separate holidays that just happen to be close, many use their saved up holidays in between to get 1 long holiday out of it but it does not merge then together.
you might confuse it becourse schools per standard use all holidays between them but that still wont result in holidays being the same -.-
you do notgive or recieve gifts that day nor does a tree have much to do with it…

Winter’s convergence is an event that was set to last untill 11th of january. It encompasses the entire holiday season which includes both Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
You seem to be confused. Maybe drop these types of topics, since they go over your head.

Halloween wouldn’t be small if we didn’t have some priority issues to solve, so less event and more work.
Winter event I think is cool, something that reminds Christmas and at the same time brings a festive atmosphere with exclusive items. About the New Year I believe that the biggest star would not be fireworks or any kind of animation event, but its next update that arrives this month.
So I expect more about content and things working than the team just thinking about festive marketing.
