Analysis of new perks

we can see on the PTR that some new perks focused on the user’s armor type have been added. However, some are clearly stronger than others.

PERK FOCUSED ON ARMOR


First point we can see is that there is no specific one for heavy armor. you could even say it has the “Sturdy Energy” to occupy this place.

however it is not focused on heavy armor and has some limitations:

  1. Depends on your stamina being below 30%

  2. Depends on your blocking someone’s attack, which along with point 1 could mean running out of stamina and you taking a stagger.

  3. As soon as you lower your shield, after blocking, your stamina has a delay until it goes back up, which makes the perk activation window even more limited.

or even, who knows, the Shirking fortification

Which, in addition to not being focused on heavy armor, depends on having the 5 pieces of the set with it to have a minimally decent effect.

But let’s make a more targeted comparison (defense vs attack)


Both have the potential to stack up to the 10% mark, however, one depends on you spending stamina and the other just hitting someone blocking.

What it seems to me is that more and more DPS are gaining strength, while tanks are falling behind to the point of being expendable.

Some changes that could help close this chasm between perks would be:

  1. Sturdy Energy does not depend on having stamina below 30%

  2. Shirking Fortification be limited to heavy armor and give 4% absorption per piece, totaling 20%

I don’t think so. That 2% will go up to 3.8% at 600, and 3.9% at 625, for almost a 20% dmg reduction, which is insane.
I’m not a fan of these perks., they are too strong imho. Shirking Dot Cleanse for example, it should have a CD of 1 minute, not fricking 15 seconds. It’s absurd.

There is one for have armor. “shirking fortification” I believe.

I don’t think light armor people need EVEN MORE DODGES when they can already pretty much be invincible for 9 out of 10 seconds at a time.

When are we supposed to hit light armor players with attacks if they’re just regaining stam with every dodge? Where’s that attack window when anyone gets to damage them?

Surely they can’t have missed all that FEEDBACK where we mention that light armor users are already so annoying to hit that most people dont even bother and just go do something else.

Well, you can check on nwdb.info by choosing PTR instead of LIVE next to the search field, then you simply search for the perk you want and adjust the gearscore. I also just entered the PTR and tried couple of these new perks. Shirking Fortification for example, it stacks with Fortify Perforate. You can basically reach 50% dmg reduction. I’ts not that easy to trigger though.

As a light user, I agree, but we should also agree that gaining, with a dodge, a +20% dmg reduction that stack with all other fortify buff is also nonsense. The time to kill is already high enough.

Hey. just tested Shirking Fortification on PTR and it seems kinda lit and not too hard to trigger. It works against both abilities and light/heavy attacks, both from melee and range. It also seems to stack, so if u manage to dodge 2 times in 6 secs it gives x2. With a full Shirking Fortification x5 set and double proc that is 40% dmg reduction… kinda sick ;D

yet another reason why this perk has to be limited to heavy armor. Imagine a medium armor spamming this

Did you get a full set by just opening armor boxes or were you able to get the craft mods easily? Definitely looking forward to getting this perk once March Update drops.

I tested it aswell, it wasn’t super easy for me to trigger it to be honest. You really have to time it right (it’s easier with melee than with ranged attacks, for obvious reasons).
I still think it gives too much dmg reduction though.

I didn’t get a full set, got 2 pieces from the PTR playtester bags. Only tested how hard ot was to trigger and if it stacked, not if it actually worked as intended tho

In a 1v1 it can maybe be abit tricky to trigger, but I think u can get used to how to do it. Also in wars, OPR and the future arena when multible players focus you its gonna be easy to trigger it, especially for GH/WH. And I agree, think its abit strong atm since it stacks and don’t have cd

I might not exactly be surprised by this, but the fact that shirking energy has a 6 second cd and shirking fortification doesn’t, while also being able to stack per your testimony, means there are going to be a lot more disparities between the armor classes. I also have no idea if you can get shirking fortification to exist on the same piece of armor as shirking energy. Might have to check that out myself before close of PTR.
