So I was playing light staff with hatchet, no problems with any mobs until Reekwater and angry earth (not elites). They wreck me.
So switcher gear, went with fire staff and void gauntlet (experimented with sword and shield) but they still wreck me. The Tendrals are the worst, and the poison is just ridiculous.
Also trying to aim through all the foliage is crazy. So I am just avoiding reek water for now.
I really dislike the gearing system in this game, as unless you watch endless videos on how to spec, what gems to use on what gear, you just waste money trying to figure it out.
Currently, all gear is wrecked, no repair parts or kits, and no money since I bought all new gear. Frustrating.
I too have been wrecked multiple times by those tendrals, They do high damage, fire really far, and can wack you three times in a row. I’m really not sure how people defeat them.
I run full DPS with max STR and before patch it was easy to get up with a Great Axe and use the Heavy ATK with GRIT and take their shield down then light ATK them till they were dead now with the new patch places i used to walk through now feel like im 25 levels behind im rocking full VB armor and 280 STR and still go in and get clapped i understand they were trying to make chest trains less common but they have destroyed solo gameplay almost indefinitely forcing people to search for groups and i dont think thats right or fair to the player base
Exactly, and some servers are so underpopulated that you can never find a group. Perhaps they will change it back as more people leave the game in frustration.
Went yesterday first time to reekwater and encountered too these angry earth guys there and the tendrils.
I advanced cautiously and tried to battle always just one opponent at a time.
Further I used the firestaff as weapon, light armor and dodged quite a lot.
My Gearscore is roughly 515.
Overall it was challenging, it took some time, but I could cope and survived.
Maybe you just need to git gud? I’m slicing through all non-elite zones easily, killing 3-4 mobs at a time, and Reekwater is my favorite. The creepers (tendrils or whatever) are easily defeated, they have a very limited moveset, once you learn it and dodge appropriately you’ll be fine. If you have a lifestaff you don’t even have to dodge, you can literally facetank through it.
I’ll say i have zero issue with the majority of the lvl 60 monsters, the archers randomly aggroing from far away is annoying but i can knock them out fast. I do enjoy my 20 coin tax per death for trying though. I’m just having trouble with these tendrils, my previous experiences have just been the corrupted breach tendril and i can solo the lvl 35 easy enough.
The Angry Earth Sword&Shield are literally a dungeon boss of annoyance. Is fun to have a challenging fight but not on every normal mob that you need to kill many for a quest or cut a tree.
you say get good but before the patch when your doing a weapon mastery quest that noone else has and complete it then go back after patch with a friend thinking it would be even smoother just to find out that one door (not monster) has more health than any boss you have fought even with MAX str your doing 500 damage at most my GS is in the 580ish range and i use Powerful honing stones and corrupted coatings and the Reformation Great Axe, etc… and still feel like im at that level where you walk into area and you used to see the skulls above the monsters heads letting you know they are above your level but trying your luck anyways just to get slapped why is it now you need a group to do what is labeled as a solo quest?
If you are doing the quest to the West of Reekwater settlement, it is fully possible to run into the ruins and up on wall. Dodge the tentacle attacks until the normal enemies reset, and then climb down the wall to reset the tentacle. You can go and pickup the 3 quest interactables by repeating this (stupid) process.
