Another gold mine for town owning companies?

So is this going to turn out to be another compensation to regular players that got screwed by your mistake that companies that own towns get to exploit for massive piles of gold to use personally. You know like the supposed 90% property tax reduction.

…This was done last month. There is no gold mine, they just reduced property taxes and gave a small reimbursement to players. How does it exploit anything?

Actually the players got very little compensation because almost every company raised the property tax to max after. The day of the 90% reduction my tax on my Brightwood house was 34 and change. The next week after they jacked the price to max it was almost 250. They basically gave a gift to companies owning towns and gave regular players scraps. They’ve not once responded to people’s complaints about this. This is why I’m guessing this compensation to will just be another cookie jar for town owning companies and regular players with just get a few walked on peanuts.

What were your taxes before and after the change? What was the taxes your settlements company charged before the change? If you do the math you’ll see nothing much changed except the amount you have to pay weekly dropped by quite a bit. You’re not looking at the big picture and the fact you’re still paying far less, and those companies aren’t gettign anywhere near as much as you think.

Here. I will point out the big picture for you. AGS implemented a 90% property tax reduction to all players for mistakes they made to compensate us for money lost and dealing with their screw ups. This was NOT made or proposed as a way for guilds that own towns to gain free gold. As part of the 90% reduction town owning guilds still received the same amount as if the 90% reduction to player tax never existed. Town owning companies took advantage of this and raised property tax to the max. Now they are getting their banks filled as if the tax is 20%. Before the ‘make good’ by AGS most towns had tax set from low to medium and they were still pocketing profits for personal use with that. Companies essentially stripped away a good portion of that “90% make good” so they could personally pocket more gold for themselves. There is no world where this should be permitted or accepted in a game! Companies must be stripped of the ability to change tax rates. They should be hard coded at the minimum number that exists in game now. Additionally companies must be stripped of the ability to make personal withdrawals from town tax revenue.

Not to mention most companies even after jacking property tax to max still have crafting and refining taxes set to moderate/high. This further demonstrates no player guild can handle having this kind of power.

Oh and lastly there is no “not as much as you think” I look at the books in town hall several times a day. I know exactly what they’re taking in day to day. And ever since the 90% reduction they are ALL taking MUCH more in than they were.

So, they reduced the taxes on your house by 90%, then the companies hiked up the taxes from 10% to 20%. So now companies are getting only 20% of the 10% you pay instead of the 10% of the old 100%. Math.

It’s very clear you have no idea what you’re talking about and also this math thing you speak of you obviously have no grasp of. With these two facts I’m done trying to explain the obvious to you. Maybe you can go take a few days to figure out how a round ball works.

And by the way your sentence makes no logical sense.

you clearly dont understand the complaint, so i will try and provide an example for you.

The person pays the 90% reduced rate but the company receives the money based upon the original full amount. So if the tax rate was 10% and i way paying 1k I would now pay 100 but the company still receives 1k. What happened was the companies all raised their taxes to max so now i pay 200 and the company receives 2k gold.

The problem with this is two fold. 1800 gold has now been created out of thin air and awarded to a small number of players, which has led to inflation on some servers. The other problem is that a change intended to benefit individual players has actually provided more of a benefit to companies (i save 800 they gain 1000), and if you factor in inflation potentially hurt the individuals.

What AGS should have done was reduce the tax rate and added a corresponding reduction to town maintenance costs. That way home owners save and companies also catch a break but no one more than the other.
