Any good musket build?

I am finally getting to play today after work, had planned on playing some sort of musket build but keep seeing that and bow are c tier. Anyone having fun with musket?

Don’t listen to anyone giving commentary on the game. Most of commentators are garbage.

Musket is a little on the weak side early, but gets really strong later.

Enjoy.

Im trying Spear and Musket pure dex

You’ll be absolutely fine, my friend.

I’ve been going with musket+sword&board and pure INT build.

Concept is to spend just 2 or 3 bullets tops per target. Make target burn and be slow before he gets into melee range of you. Once in melee, you use all the shield skills to stun and knock back so the burn does its job…all the while you are safely behind your shield.

No matter what weapon you pair musket with, the fact remains you will be engaged in melee at some point…and probably by more than 1 enemy at some point. Shield is the only specialized defensive weapon that can aoe protect and attack/stun/KB opponents.

INT attrib gives bonuses to dots and bonuses to crit damage plus bonus to elemental damage…and when you switch your weapon to put a portion of its damage as something other than thrust this bonus applies too. That means musket gains a solid bonus of 20% for 50% of its damage merely because it got switched to elemental type. Fire dot is an elemental damage.

… and it saves SO MUCH on bullets.

For most PVE encounters just one bullet is enough… the burn effect will kill the mob while it hits your shield…and as long as you just block, you wont be giving sword any xp…it all goes to musket

The musket is a mixed bag, because of the complete lack of viable AOE damage really hamstringing it in dungeon and group pvp content. that said as a single target weapon it gets really strong if you can headshot with it. I suggest taking a mobile melee weapon like the rapier to pair with it.

avoid the traps skill tree. it’s basically junk.

The muskets nice for max range killing, defending the fort you can hit people just as they render in which is insane, I ran sword and board but I switched to spear for easier point distribution. I hear musket and hatchet are a rediculously good combo, you can trap with musket and fire off 3 quick shots in a crouched position, as well as a small knockback shot, super fun but limited to skill.

Drawbacks that I had:
Very unforgiving if you miss
Not as powerful as the bow
Slow movement after firing
Abilities aren’t very powerful

Pros:
Max range insta hits
Sticky grenades (oh yeah they’re wicked)
100% accuracy with hipfire perk (no need to ADS)
no charge up attacks

This is of course my opinion, just like every weapon they all have pros and cons, also be prepared to either craft lots of ammo or buy it.

Go an have fun

Is this true? I mean the INT part. With going full INT you’re basically sacrificing a ton of direct damage just to increase your Burn DoT - is this really worth it?

What musket scales off int as well, its one of the two stats it uses to increase damage so yes it would increase damage, you not sacrificing damage
