Sorry, are you insinuating that the simple existence of LGBT+ inclusive companies is somehow a danger to children? That is some next-level homophobia.
I mean, I’ve seen plenty of pedophilia and online grooming occurring in online spaces. So I will acknowledge that it is something that happens but it has absolutely nothing to do with the LGBT+ community. Despite that, my company is 18+ only for those very reasons.
Also, believe it or not, there are children who are LGBT+.

From someone who was not a very nice person, not a very long time ago, a person can change if they want to. The error is thinking that YOU can change another person. A person can change organically as their opinion of a person or persons changes. So in actuality, being open about yourself and being willing to interact with people can allow them to change. That is what the other person was intending to say.
Yes, because LGBT+ people are just emotional incubators for hateful straight men.

I’m going to have to repeat my concept because as someone stated up thread, there is a reading comprehension problem here: NO ONE NEEDS TO TAKE ABUSE WHILE YOU DECIDE TO “CHANGE”. Stay TF away from me and go spew your hatred and abuse somewhere else. I’ll stay in my safepeace and live in peace. This way we can both enjoy the game.

It’s just interesting to me that others are allowed to seek out the kind of community they want while someone who is just asking for a LGBT+ inclusive guild has been berated.

Good observation @Hekatris. I have a theory though, I mean I may be totally off on this one (note Sarcasm). But maybe its because they just dont like certain other kinds of people so they are using this post as a way to express that hatred under the guise of “not caring”, “Concern trolling” or just expressing their pent up hatred? Hummm, let me think on this one some more.

How does it work both ways? It is not an LGBT+ person’s responsibility to change your hateful views.
I mean, if an LGBT+ individual wants to, out of the goodness of their hearts, work with any individual that is unaccepting of their sexuality, then that is fine. Of course, they likely understand that there are risks associated with that. That doesn’t even account for the emotional labor and time that you likely have to invest and that is if somebody is OPEN to becoming less bigoted.
In what world is that a mutual exchange and not you expecting LGBT+ people to put in their time and effort to help you change your views?

Like, even in this interaction, you’re not open to learning or listening to the perspective of LGBT+ people when we tell you why many of us prefer to play with other LGBT+ people or in LGBT+ inclusive environments.
Instead, you’re just mischaracterizing our need to play the game in a safe and accepting environment as a hateful desire to remain segregated from straight men. Seeking community is not the same thing as seeking an echo chamber. And, on that note, I will also say that none of the LGBT+ gaming communities I have been apart of online have ever said that straight or cis people cannot join. So, it really has never been exclusive towards straight people.
Understandably, this is frustrating for us and not all LGBT+ people are going to have the patience to explain what you’re doing in the same way that I am.

I kinda love this point. I’m not fully settled, but I think I kinda love it.
I thought that was a sweet story that guy told about his gay friend that committed suicide, but now I’m not so sure I like it as much. I realize it is the Hallmark Movie of ways this usually goes.
If I summarize it, basically a kid initiated violence against another kid because that other kid was, or was at least perceived to be, gay. But, the gay guy was able to take so much shit for so long, that the straight homophobe said “wow, he is human after all.”
But, that’s my perspective, from my experience in life.

Well the problem is looking at it from one perspective. I understand yall get hate for being who you are. And also if I was insecure like most other straight men, I would get perceived hate for associating with people that other straight people hate. So like I said, 2 sided. I’m sure to an extent it’s the same for yall. The magic happens when people that follow someone who begins making a change, their perspective can begin to change as well. Which is actually provable. Look how it was 15 years ago?
What about to delete this topic from a gaming board? Ppl come here to read and debate about the game or we should make a topic about wars? and one about politics? ohh and also one about religions? w8 we can make one also about racism… you get my point, if u allow this you are forced to allow all I mentioned and for sure you don’t want to see those around.

Right? I was thinking about that too. Like, this man really told this story like it was some kind of positive, inspirational story.
Essentially, it boils down to, “We bullied a gay kid until he killed himself. But, it’s okay because his LEGACY was helping us change our hateful perspectives.”
Like, all gay men are is a plot point in straight men’s emotional development. Nevermind the fact that a person DIED. I guess all gay men should kill themselves so straight men can be more accepting?? Like what was the point of that?
