Straight people are never excluded from LGBT+ inclusive spaces. Straight and cis allies are 100% included and valued in LGBT+ communities.
The problem is that the majority of straight people exclude themselves as soon as they see “LGBT+.” This is a result of their hatred, bigotry and misunderstanding. Then, they turn around and accuse LGBT+ people of being exclusive for not catering their existence or communities to straight people.

I don’t understand why sexuality is being brought into the game at all. We’re here to kill Thorpe and his homies. Specifically congregating a group of like minded people wrapped around the cloak of orientation is exactly why exclusivity still exists. I understand the purpose but it has no place here, it goes from a place of understanding; to secular ambiguity and separation which causes the negative experiences lgbtq+ individuals regularly go through. There are a-holes in every group/culture/society we all deal with them. Just ignore and remove them from your life. I would say these same things regarding a “straight” conversation. Just imagine someone coming in here saying looking for like minded people that relate to straight life. It would be cringe af and shows many traits of a predator. We all receive hate in one facet or another. Creating a microcosm will not make anything better moving forward.

They wouldn’t have to look for like-minded people when it comes to “straight life.” Everybody is like-minded in that straight is the norm.

Which was my original point. They’re creating an issue for a problem that does not exist in the game. I highly doubt you’ve been excluded from a company or an entire server due to your personal preferences. Unless you actively state your preferences and get trolled in chat.

+bump It’s not a dating simulator, you find friends to play a game with, not a “group” of like minded people that conveniently fit the mold of a potential partner, it has no place in any gaming community. If people are giving you crap for your orientation, they are not good people, easy block. Although the orientation of people is mutually exclusive from games and if you are talking about it in global chat you’re making yourself a target for something that has no relevance in the game at all. Which is why people attack it in the first place. The whole thing is just a place holder to find a common theme to complain about together. And it’s fairly sad and grotesque imo

You highly doubt that? I spoke here earlier about being kicked from more Discord lobbies than I can count as soon as someone heard my voice.
Look at the responses to this thread. Do you really think New World is somehow exempt from so much of the hatred and bigotry in online spaces? Yes as long as you don’t talk to anyone and in particular avoid communicating via voice chat, it could be theoretically easy to conceal your sexuality. But, as soon as you do either of those things, many of us have faced discrimination and exclusion. Beyond that, if we’re having to be secretive about our sexualities, then that is already a red flag that you’re in an unaccepting environment.

I mean if you want the truth, sounds like a personality problem. I admin a 300 person discord, personality is the #1 problem. In game disputes is #2. Personal preferences is not even on the list. And that’s Dayz, a community toxicity level that’s fairly high.

No i think a gaming community is a gaming community and one’s orientation has no merit or bearing in the conversation at all. Like i said if you feel excluded, they are shit people not worth being around in the first place. Which are in any culture/region/sub culture/microcosm; ez block ez life. You wanting to stick around shit people for the sake of wanting to feel accepted in a place where the people don’t even clearly accept themselves shows you have no idea what you’re talking about. I never denied homophobia exists. It’s just generally a non-issue. If you can play your class and are not a troll or overtly cringe, I don’t see what the issue is. Personality/persona issues. As few people on the internet are genuine. Thats where the problems begin. So if I was in chat stating that I’m a straight white male looking for like minded people I would get trolled as well.

Because they DO CARE. The ladies doth protest too much! If they didnt care they would simply keep scrolling. They care, they care, they care. They can’t keep their mouths closed on it. But in the meantime they scream how they dont care, but continue to post and troll the OP and others. They say this is a gaming forum to discuss the game, yet deny others the right to find peace while playing the game.
I said it once and I’ll keep saying it: They don’t want others to separate from them because they wish to continue to spew their hate and abuse on them. They cant do it and keep their jobs IRL so they take their dysfunction and hate online where it can have free reign. They just want to make sure that others HAVE TO be subjected to it. This is the only reasonable conclusion I have come to after gaming all of these years.

That would never happen so why even bring it up. False equivalency. Apples to oranges. You WOULD NOT HAVE TO Look for a straight white male group in spaces highly populated by straight white males. Gaming is one of the spaces. I work in investment banking, another space with a high pop of SWMs. Nice try. Now if you were in another environment where SWMs were in the minority, subject to hate and abuse and trolled and harrassed (as you are all doing here to the OP and others), it would be well within you damn RIGHT to seek community so you can have a moment of peace and enjoy your hobby.
