Any new world Purist here?

Hello everyone,

Since day one, I have had a particular policy which I tell almost no one.

It’s simple.

I only use named gear, no other gear, period.

I call this being a purist, not using any crafting gear or random drops. In fact, I would grind an extra 10 hours just to get a ring vs ever buying or crafting it.

I just wanted to check, is there anyone else like me out there?

PS: I used to ignore pvp cause no named gear but ever since they released pvp track, I have been collecting all it’s gear and I now finally play pvp

I fall into the “Collector” category as well. However, I prefer to use named gear and will make small sacrifices to do so, sometimes.

I don’t use much of it, but I keep all named gear if it was a quest reward from a town (Windsward coat, Brightwood ring, etc). Wish we had a way to display these like thane weapons in Skyrim. I have chests full of named or sentimental items in ESO too, plus items that match my character backstory.

For my tanky New World “loadout”, I only wore Scout armor chests (fox tied to platemail) once I acquired one, even when better chests dropped. In fact, I was buying higher level versions & saving them as I leveled into them. I also like the gathering outfits for luck and immersion.

Ridiculous? Probably. Fun? Definitely.

Sadly this only works if you play heavy armor. There are a lot of medium/light sets missing with dex, focus and int.

At least tanks get some love in this department

They def should do collections for armour sets and trinkets from the various dungeons and so forth.

Once you collect the set, you can unlock the skins for transmog etc.

Give a ye oldy housing item for completing each collection, really liked doing the EQ2 collection back in the day.

You’re gonna be very happy when you see the new cool graphics for the named items.

There are quite a few new sets. Like I use sagacious set for focus and tactician for dex. Also honest theif set is good.

Raider is decent for medium strength and there’s also voidbent (funny) or pvp track gear

Funny how you ignored PvP while the first named gear I got a year ago was “Wildfire Torch” from one of the first OPR matches xD

I meant amour, weapons and jewellery are plenty but not any good pvp armor?

The problem with named gear is…no perks.

You’re not a purist…you just don’t have any common sense. What is the ultimate purpose of not using gear that benefits you? How would you pick and choose what is named and what isn’t? You fight naked until Amrine, with your fists? That’s the first named drops that I’m aware of…
