Any PvP OGs still playing?

Day one player here. Could not be less interested in wars. I see their appeal but I prefer emergent, small scale PvP over zergs any day of the week.

Agree. And for some reason when a war breaks out in a fort in open world PvP it’s much more amusing than in a war fort PvP

Been playing since Beta. I play everyday since launch. Far as I’m concerned outside of OPR pvp is boring. Open world pvp just doesn’t exist and 3v3’s is a boring game of tag. War was and still is an utter disappointment. OPR has issues but at least its tolerable. Just gonna keep hoping pvp becomes something more as time goes by.

Gold selling and war logging go hand in hand.

Of all the top PvP companies on NAE, the vast majority of them have been PvPing since the start of the game. Each company has kind of consolidated entire servers together into one company, so depending on what server you started out on, you can probably find groups of people you know still playing.

Was about to come back to the game, then found out they made changes to dodge windows during animations and immediately alt f4d. No wonder most of the actual good pvpers i knew quit the game…can press shift at any point in time and just win

What you mean exactly ? I dont see any changes in dodge execpt that stamina regen. With 1 or 2 sec delay what is good and u can dodge while rooted which is dumb? Maybe I miss something or just dont remember …

Think the update was a few months ago? Before they changed it you couldn’t dodge at all if you were committed to a weapon swing. Now you have extended windows after you swing or have started a swing to dodge. This eliminates the competitiveness and mindgames in small scale PvP which I loved. For example back when I used to play with ham/axe, I would wait for someone to commit to a chain basic attack knowing they won’t be able to dodge for a second, or swing fake into shockwave stun catching them off guard while they commit to a weapon swing and are unable to dodge. With slow abilities like shockwave now and how many more opportunities you have to dodge, you can make a mistake by commiting to an attack but still have the ability to dodge a stun because of the extended window of time they granted. I tested a bunch of weapons and was baffled by how much more animation cancelling was possible. Don’t mean to be salty, but I preferred the game how it was before and am disappointed. The changes do make the game feel “smoother” but it just isn’t for me

When the game launched I was heavily involved in wars on my server and our company was a mainstay for the roster. I quit the game after a few months, and am now returning because of all the QOL changes that have been made. I hope that others have the same idea, and give it a shot again. So far I am extremely happy with the changes, but I see where you are coming from. The amount of open world PvPers is drastically lower than it used to be. My company is looking to get our foot into the door with wars and what not on our server. Hopefully we can attract some of the old vets coming back, and the new players excited for pvp.

Haha yeah, lots of forgiveness now and just feels more gear/spec based now imo

Nowadays if I log I do summer event,and some pve I totally quit pvp.

This pretty much.
Whenever Im getting a break from my musket shenanigans I roll hatchet GA or hatchet SnS and im like: uf I do feel the 602 GS on this build xD

i play since day one and personaly the wars are the only thing that keeps in game mostly. maybe some opr too now and then but its really unhealthy for me with current ranged meta

ranged meta + the same map from months keep me away from it ;d

Alpha Player here, still playing occasionally.

PvP very rarely these days though as OPR is super stale on the same map and the ranged meta is not fun, Arena has no substance without ranked and Open World PvP, which arguably is the most fun type of pvp there is, couldn’t be more dead. Wars in my opinion have always been poorly designed and are not worth playing whatsoever.

Overall the PvP experience in New World is just not exciting and needs some major reworks, especially for Open World PvP. I always liked the mechanical skillgap of the combat system, if it actually works that is, but generally I just feel like I’ve played through the game at this point and it seems like they have no plans to make any effort to update the overall PvP gameplay any time soon.
