Once you drink the swimming potion and can hold breathe you will be able to explore it and fight underwater.
I mean if you paid attention to the development of New World since the previews. New World has technically been in maintenance mode since February of 2022. This game receives less content in a year, than most sub-3000 peak player P2W MMOs do in 6 months. Hell F2P/B2P non-P2W GW2 get more content in 3 months than New World gets in a whole year. You can buy BDO for $10 and in some cases $2 and spend nothing else, and get more content in 6 months, than New World gets in a year.
New zone
New raid
New weapons
New dungeons
New territory/war changes
New elite skills
New side activities
Etc
“Lel game in maintenance mode”
Some people seem to never have actually played a mmo in maintenance mode. It’s completely different. Get a grip.
Would I prefer it to be faster? Sure! But call it maintenance mode is just being either stupid or intentionally misleading.
Pretty much that.
I played secret world and it was incredibly apparent when it hit maintenance mode. The content stopped coming, and they just started adding quests in the same areas that were already there. Forum posts and videos stopped coming, dev updates stopped coming. Pretty much the only thing we got past that point was cosmetics.
Many games followed that same route, you can tell when a game gets it’s heart ripped out, and new world - while it’s development curve is definitely different - is not even close to what maintenance mode looks like.
Not strictly true, I think a more accurate way of describing NW is that it is in early access
AGS changing the game from a MP Survival to a more traditional MMO, but they don’t have unlimited amounts of player patience, something they don’t appear to really understand.
I bring up Tera as an example. Tera had most those things and more even in the last 6 months of its official existence. Actually, because Tera was shutting down, the Devs decided to throw new monthly events and content up until its official end.
Im not sure about what your point is though.
Tera is also a game that has been available for many years and has had time to add those things.
