Yeah, it was such a good game-design change and it should be roll-outed to ALL ranged weapons!
Enable Accuracy for ranged-magic weapons and add the RNG to it as well.
Trouble with BOWPR? Add Accuracy to it!
Trouble with thousands of FS? Add Accuracy to it!
Maybe in the next year where bruisers will be dominant once again we can add Accuracy to it as well, so they’ll have a % chance that their attack will automatically miss.
All ranged weapons need to have bloom/accuracy considerations. Let’s take out a player’s skill by adding in RNG to all ranged weapons. If the musket has this disadvantage, all ranged should.
Honestly, I cannot fathom how the devs thought adding RNG to a hitscan weapon was a solution. Let alone any weapon. Why are you removing skill to replace with RNG? Even with the accuracy perk on, musket shots are missing targets right in front of them <5m because of RNG. It’s comical.
The solution to muskets was so simple:
-Nerf ME
-CORRECTLY implement significant damage falloff at range intervals (25/50/100m)
The devs say that the musket isn’t a ‘run and gun’ weapon, but introduce a nerf that makes the zoom perk amplify the inaccuracy of the bloom/accuracy considerations. The last remaining musket players (lol all the good ones have quit or switched weapons) don’t even put a point into the sniper perk because it REDUCES accuracy. Lmao. And on top of that, the entire trapper tree is designed for closer quarter combat.
I’m truly astounded that the musket nerf went live as-is. Muskets aren’t even slotted into any competitive wars anymore.

Thats already the case, Melee auto attacks randomly dont track and dont connect at times, so… We already have had this hell since the game came out, welcome to the club
you have desync jack A, not RNG accuracy. Even with perfect UDP musket will miss because rng aspect of bloom that isnt even corrected by wasting an perk slot on weapon for accuracy.
There are 3 ways to ballance weapon that have 120m effective range while all othes in game are 0-40m:
delete that weapon from game. no ballance issues any more.
make that weapon dps 1/5 max 1/3 of others range weapons so distance can be closed my all other builds
add mechanic on top that will make aiming harder to other builds have chance to close gap
No matter of solution you would cry. Ppl get used to play csgo in mmorpg that there are no good solutions. You want to farm dmg while sitting out of range. Sh1t was broken and was broken for 1.5 years so feel lucky that it took them so much time to solve this.
And its not that musket is unplayable. From what i see on opr ppl are doing 20-30 kills with it. Difference is they sit on 30-50m range now. And can be pushed.
Not true, almost all musket users agree that the weapon was overpowered (alongside with bow and FS now), and we were always giving feedback on how do balance the weapon (bulletdrop, greater damage falloff after 60m, etc…).
For over a year in all musket topics there were 0 musket players saying its op. But 9/10 were saying its skill issue and others should “get gut”. So now its ur time boys to get gud.
THANK YOU, literally the EXACT action that needed to be taken to nerf the musket range. THOSE TWO THING IS ALL IT WOULD TAKE. The ME got nerfed and I think it did the job, but now all they’ve done is ruin midrange combat for musket too. They don’t want musket to run and gun? then maybe arrows should sway in the wind huh? and fireballs so extinguish after 10m because how tf is it going to stay alite?
You are 100% wrong on almost every word on this comment. Try the weapon instead of dying to it huh? maybe it would be easier now that it’s impossible to die to it without a 27 leaf clover and a horse shoe underneath your gaming chair
I dont know the answer to that. Although I do remember hearing this same reason back in Alpha as to why musket was hit scan. I dont think they could work out the physics without a performance hit for whatever reason.
RNG is bad on the musket, and is bad for all weapons. There were way better solutions to fixing the musket but they chose a way that feels the worst to play. They could’ve added bullet drop instead if they REALLY wanted to go that route. Would be reliant on player skill instead of RNG.
