Are Taxes here to make American's wake up?

yeah, we pay more taxes but dont go bankrupt when we break a bone or pay off student loans for decades to get educated.

Free healthcare and education does require tax money ya know?

I’ll give you that. In America, if you don’t come from wealth, you really have to fight to get a good education and a job to pay for that insurance that covers that broken bone. It’s not just handed to you. If you have the will and the smarts, you can make it happen. Sadly, not everybody has one or both of those qualities.

This sounds like an interesting idea.
You get to vote once a week or 2 weeks for a company of the same faction to handle a town.
Let the wars take care of the faction ownership of them though.

As a European I always find it strange that the USA thinks we have some massive socialist system. We don’t. There is plenty of capitalism here and it creates a huge amount of problems.

For example Ireland has severe a housing crisis because of it. An entire generation is having so much difficulty just paying rent never mind getting their own home. Almost everyone I know moved away from the country because it just costs too much to live there. Those fortunate to have bought their own home in Ireland only could because they had help from their parents or got an inheritance. Super rich country while the young adults are struggling due to the cost of living getting higher while wages remain stagnant.

I suppose many Americans think we’re socialist because it’s not the norm here to get into debt because an ambulance was called to save your life. Insulin typically doesn’t cost as much as raising a child. Nor is it the norm for your education to potentially cost as much as buying a nice house.

LET’S GO BRA… err, JEFF!

On topic: yea, I actually asked that myself already… either a lunatic or a very elaborate troll designed this games’ economy. That or they are just idiots.

Companies are the government. Who would they pay taxes to?

Exactly. The best choice I ever made

Homeless in NW as I was in life

No, it’s not.
Americans and the British would each be companies in the same faction, in this context. The Americans and British can go to war against France and Spain, the other factions, but the game doesn’t allow the Americans to revolt against the British. Some form of in-faction actions would be useful, but we don’t have any.

Not necessarily. Plenty of people who came from a poor family ended up becoming extraordinarily successful in America. The richest man there ever was, John D. Rockerfeller, came from a poor family only to work his way up to the top and became this huge oil tycoon. It was the fact that he wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth and that he knew what it was like to be destitute that drove his ambition.

click bait lmao
get this useless thread out of here

as if america is the only country in the world that has tax

This is true…
There are so many Americans that come from a poor backgrounds. They also have drive. The difference between Rockerfeller and the majority of poor Americans is OPPORTUNITY. Without opportunity, they will never become the new Rockerfeller.

As for taxes… taxes in New World are horrendous… not much opportunity there either.

They also don’t worry about a lot of things like healthcare, education, free training if you lose your job and need a new skill (which benefits the country in the long run), and have large paid vacation time and in polling of the happiest people tend to top the list.
And their system is very much capitalist with a robust support structure which isn’t anything near actual socialism.

Could be just to take money out of the system and goes to no one. Most games need some system to do that to keep the in game inflation down.

taxes need a NERF!

Don’t be absurd. America has the most expensive government in the history of mankind.

Federal Income Taxes … as everyone knows … are only one small fraction of total taxes. Next comes sales taxes, business taxes which are passed down to the consumer in the form of higher prices, property taxes, automobile registrations, communication fees, excise taxes … it goes on and on.

The average American wage earner pays near about 50% of their gross in taxes. We’re no different than most socialist countries in that regard, it’s just less honest … disguised and hidden.

Uh… European countries also charge property taxes, sales taxes, business taxes, etc. And that’s ON TOP of the 50% individual income tax. Europeans easily pay more in total taxes than the average American. The tradeoff, of course, is that they have more free services like healthcare, etc. for everybody.

I’d be happy with a cute little house in the woods.

AGS…I’d even spend REAL money for a cute house in a forest just outside a settlement if it means I can avoid taxes.

As someone who loves housing in MMO’s… the taxes in this game is off-putting to me. Almost makes me wish there was no PvP element to the settlements at all.

I find it rather ironic that the games got taxes and fees everywhere yet AGS and its parent company amazon are the world leaders at tax avoidance.

I think they should be banned from in game tax until they pay real world tax
