If so that is unbelievably unfair, the only way to make that fair is if they drop the people who are at 200 already down to reflect the exp change and that is coming from someone who has 200 crafting in a few of my trades.
I believe they don’t want ppl to spam low lvl crafts to level the trade skills to 100. (gunpowder, weak hp potion and travel ration).
So they are raising the exp required and make higher level crafts give more exp.
I believe it would be a better option to just stop specific low lvl crafts from granting any xp after certain trade skill levels…
The current system just makes ppl craft 20k weak hp potions and then dropping them on the ground cuz they can’t do anything with them.
Ppl don’t want to do higher crafts because they can choose to just do stuff cheaper by spamming lower crafts.
I was one of the ppl who choose to farm some bulrush and then dump thousands of weak potions. It didn’t feel good, but it was cheap and fast.
How was this not decided during beta though? this is a really stupid change to make after launch. This should have been ironed out during beta and they had plenty of time to do it.
Yes, they are… it is the only way to keep end game materials from going through the floor, too, short of creating a new tier or releasing the intended one early (Bad Idea™).
Sad part is, this protects the dupers and exploiters as they continue to prey on things… and simply pushes anyone with any sense of ethic out the proverbial door.
Sadder still, they’re now squarely and by their choices sitting in a Catch-22™:
-
Reboot and lose your core gamer contingency (heavy overlap with dupers and exploiters, so this isn’t actually a bad thing).
-
Don’t reboot and lose your casual ($$ primary revenue) stream as they depart in justified disgust at the seeming disinterest in CORRECTING and RESTORING a game world to its intended state - less than 90 days online - slowly budding economy.
Interesting times.
Possibly you were not in beta? Since in beta the duping problems were ID’ed and posted to AGS, perhaps you have seen how well they have done with those. This is also the stuff a Test Server is for which they are working on spinning up now. Meanwhile they are patching while praying the patch is a fix and not further borking the game.
1/10
wow…
I assumed this is how XP would work when I started crafting, I never even checked, cause that’s how it works usually, and it makes sense.
So I grinded my crafting using T5 resources… it took me FOR EVER and it cost me all my gold and half an arm too lol.
Then, because I ended up being literally broke, I fell back on T1 resources, and while I was at it, did the math and realised it was not as efficient, but MORE efficient.
Basically, they should have done this from the start, it was such an obvious matter of coherence that I assumed that’s how it worked, sometimes I wonder what goes on in the dev’s brains lol. I mean, it was my fault, I’m not deyning that, but I dunno, you expect people, especially devs to have common sense …
No I chose not to play beta wanted to go into the game not already burnt out, looks like I made the right decision since they didn’t fix much of the beta’s bugs in the first place so my input there would have been for nothing.
So where are you seeing this? i cant find any dev post on here talking about an increase in crafting xp.
would love to read it my self if possible
It’s a live change on the test realm but I heard it from guild discord.
Yes, very interesting times indeed…You don’t know when this is going live do you?
So the assertion here seems to be that only things PLAYERS found to be issues can be tested and fixed by the game studio.
Since people are not upset or reporting the low-level crafting “issue”, how is it this is getting looked at and “fixed” now? Or is it that they are observing behavior and making changes based on arbitrarily extending the endgame, because they have no endgame now, and need to make this as much of a gacha game as possible?
Fair. I was in beta to see if they fixed some of the things I saw in alpha that would have been a hard stop for me. Seeing they moved to flag for PvP and eliminated the naked running hordes meant I was willing to buy in.
I assumed Amazon would have better QC than No Man’s Sky.
Silly me.
I do not believe they have officially announced the go live date. Such an announcement will likely be in the Official forums.
It is more an observation that even more game critical issues were found in beta and not corrected (or a particular species was corrected while the entire kingdom or phyla waited in the bushes for release). Also mentioned the Test Server because IMHO the testing and QC side of AGS seems weak to non-existent. Now after they have predictably been torched by that they are trying to correct.
I personally hope they can make it work but more than a little doubtful they will make it.
This change is stupid.
The reason people spam low level crafts is because the crafting systems sucks and was designed by and idiot. Dam near every crafting mat, has to be crafted starting with low tier items. Which is a huge issue.
I need 4 raw hides to make 1 coarse leather, I need 4 coarse leather to make 1 rugged leather (16 raw hides). 2 rugged leather to make a layered leather (32 raw hides) Now I need 2 layered leather to make an infused leather (64 raw hides) plus resources for the crafting.
If you have hundreds of T5 resources to blow, then it might be beneficial. However unless you farm a lot, you will run out, they nerfed the drop rate on the T5 resources, so you get less while farming, and they are pretty expensive to buy, considering pretty much everything you craft, will be salvaged or dropped on the ground until you reach the top tier crafts. It’s stupid to use anything but thousands of low tier mats to level up.
Which is why my server, and probably most servers you’ll find Iron Hide and Thick hide by the thousands in the trading post for 0.01, yet Raw hide, that any noob can farm moments after joining the game, sells for 0.90 and coarse leather is 2.00 or more.
