Quick question since someone kinda half chewed me out for talking about it: Are you “allowed” to have a second account with a character on the same server as another account? Obviously you can buy the game infinite times and no ones gonna break down your door to ask if you own another account, but I’m just curious if it was ever stated that you’re not supposed to.
Like specifically stated, not whether it “should” be against ToS.
I asked this question a few days ago. Another player who had looked into it further said you basically have to have two of everything. So a second steam account that you buy the game on since steam won’t let you buy 2 copies of same game, (can you buy the game without steam? I dunno) with a 2nd email, and either skip the amazon prime benefits (which I think are only cosmetic) or have a 2nd prime.
well if you buy a lvled account with loads of resources and cash, doenst that fall under RMT and gives you a unfair advantage to other players, wich is againt ToS, just a thought
It makes sense to me, that if you have steam family sharing, and a sibling shares your copy of New World to play while you are not playing, that it should be allowed. That being said, I think they overlooked Steam family sharing.
This game makes it to where you can’t have alts on the same server, and back in the day it was actually against ToS to do the same on pvp servers in WoW. I was wondering if the same language was in this game’s ToS somewhere.
Yeah that’s classic RMT (though why an account selling site would heave money on one is beyond me), I mean actually buying two copies of the game and having two characters on the same server. Other than double storage and things you have alt accounts for in games like Fallout 76, this would also let you double up on quest gold.
Quest gold a second time, baseline doubling your storage/muling, and if this game does holiday event items from limited events you get double the chances/runs. I guarantee the sweats will be doing it for quest gold if raw gold farms really are terrible late game.
I don’t see Amazon telling anyone they can’t spend more money on them. There’s nothing that says you can’t buy as many copies as you want. As for using alt accounts to do other things? Well…one knows what one should /should not do. As far as multi-boxing? Who knows. Are there legit reasons for wanting multiple accounts? I can see a few. You’re only allowed two characters on any given server. That’s not much. They could choose to add more slots now that ques aren’t a problem. However, you may like the particular server you play on and want more than just two characters. Another, legal, copy of the game would let you do that. Yes, yes…you can respec, etc, etc. It’s a player’s choice. However, there is no limitation on buying more copies of the game.
As long as it’s a full paying seperate account it’s fine as long as you are running two independent clients on two seperate pc’s (if logged in at the same time).
I could not find anything that would prevent you from doing so in the ToS/CoC.
The only paragraph that could apply, would be the ToS 2.5 (iv):
You may not … interfere with or circumvent any feature of the Games, access or use the Games in a way intended to avoid fees or restrictions, or otherwise exploit the Games
One may argue, that using multiple accounts on the same server enables you to “avoiding fees and restrictions”. That being said, it’s stated in a context of using technical measures like intercepting and/or modifying network traffic or modifying the game itself.
TLDR: Based on the current version of both the ToS and CoC i don’t see an issue with it, but this is no legal advice and hopefully AGS can comment on this.
