Are you hopeful for the New world January update?

That was the expectation. A winter themed event that will keep us entertained until January. He couldn’t even come. They deleted the date they specified and they are playing 3 monkeys. Let’s say this December patch came in 1-2 days and it kept us busy for 1 more month. But the January patch? Is it really going to be an empty patch like the other 3 months? How many more months do they expect us to be patient in a game with no proper endgame? They should at least publish a roadmap. About when to come. I guess they prefer not to talk at all because they know they can’t bring anything new in January either. And we are not waiting for this game for 2-3 months. They postponed it for 1 year already, they delayed it for 1 more month and now it’s been 3 months. And still nothing about new content. Except for data mining.

We were sold an early access marketed as a finished product.

IMO, unless they publicly fire and replace some directors/leadership the way Square Enix had to do with FFXIV, this thing is fubar.

I haven’t played ff14 but everyone is talking about its amazing comeback. I guess they should copy exactly what they did and give the same feedback. We understood that things are not going well this way at the moment.

Not hopeful at all. If there’s something to nerf to uselessness and bugs to be made…they will without a doubt do them. They’ll also completely ignore the busted ass UI aka. QOL issues…as usual.

This has been said time and time again - but with some sort of road map, we’d at least know what to expect. I don’t understand what’s so hard about this. It doesn’t have to be specific. We’d like to know what’s being worked on. What are the priorities? What is the vision?

As it stands, the only sensible thing is to not expect anything. Game isn’t in a good state, development since release has been bumpy, communication is lacking at times. Sure, it feels nice to be optimistic. But with the trackrecord as it is, you can hardly be surprised if you get disappointed in the end.

I read an interview of the game director in pc gamers. It’s about 2 pages and he only talked about the mistakes they made. And he mentioned that they would be slow to introduce new things so as not to make those mistakes again. I was about to go crazy while reading it when he finally said something really hopeful. And players will now be able to look at your equipment while running. Oh my god this has to be the greatest invention of the 21st century

Unless the following are the first things listed in the notes, no, no hope from me personally.

  • We fixed performance.
  • Combat is now fluid.

In all seriousness, the new director + the official forums (with surveys done by the director and devs) + the roadmap saved that game.

We have no roadmap here. We have no surveys with transparent results and answers.

LMAO. Well that’s kind of a qol thing. Maybe there’s hope they are starting to realize how shitty their UI is and might start addressing it. Who knows.

Not hopeful at all. I haven’t played the game for 3 days. The stupid elite runs kill the game for me. 50+ ppl just run from chest to chest, no one bothers with killing mobs. I have done Genesis once and it was fun. Later learned wm and waiting my wm to hit enough value so I won’t waste my keys. Though wm farming is boring as hell. So I can’t do fun content unless I do boring content. I curse to whoever designed this stupid mechanic every time I play. Atm I don’t have any expectations of this game. This is my first and last Amazon game.

While fixing FFXIV 1.0, the director held frequent updates in an official capacity titled “Letter from the producer” and would release actual images of the official roadmap.
There would then be surveys on the forums with directed questions and multichoice answers on game direction, after filling out/voting you could see results directly in the forums, live.

what concept huh?

I’m always hopefully but at this point you just figure it will be full of bugs like every update/patch so far. We have to see when they even get this holiday event out and if it works before worrying about January. Also, I’m pretty sure they never said January just “early 2022” so I’m not in any rush to think about it until it’s scheduled. Which means I don’t have to worry about it until an hour before it updates as that is our usual notice lol.

Yeah and that is the core of the games issues. Want to do something fun? Boring grind first
Grind to 200 crafting, yay! But want to make decent gear? Farm for an outfit, farm for money to buy 3 houses, farm for trophies, farm for the legendary resources. Now you can try and make something worthwhile - Then hope you don’t make complete shit.

Wanna to do dungeons with friends? farm your watermark to make the dungeon ‘worthwhile’, then farm lots of crap to make an orb, then do a dungeon to get what you need to farm for another orb to then do that dungeon. It’s a lot of grind to have fun with friends

This, exactly this.

There is a bit of fun content but it is locked behind a ton of boring stuff. A little bit of boring stuff is ok, but in NW it is a lot and is about to become much more.

I know some players really like it this way but you are in the vast minority of MMO players. NW will continue to dwindle and become very niche. Then you will all wonder and complain why AGS isn’t doing more, adding more content, etc. (not enough players, so half or more of the devs get re-assigned). Then a P2W cash shop will appear…

This is the unfortunate future of NW. Which is a real shame.

Let them fix urgent bugs, install the Dec patch, have a Christmas break, then in January we can ask for roadmap.

The Valheim developers got absolutely eviscerated by not sticking to their roadmap. Maybe AGS saw that negative publicity and just decided to do what content they can when it’s ready?

I’d prefer no roadmap instead of a wildly inaccurate one, anyway

Valheimle is not a New world equals game. Even Valheim’s developers said they were surprised by the number of players, and they didn’t expect that much. New world is a game that has amazon behind it and sells to millions of people. The only game they should take as an example right now is ff14 and its comeback.
