The crafting system is unfair to anyone who doesn’t own a settlement earning over a million coin per week.
I have 200 Armoring, 200 Weaponsmithing, 200 Arcana, and I can’t really do much with any of them. Just a waste of time.

I make like 6k per day just off of daily crafts. 3 people in my company, no territory owned.
Also getting close to maxing out weaponsmithing and armoring, clear profit to be made on my server
not late 2022 but mid 2022. I’d say in about seven months. maybe they’ll do a “relaunch”
I am so confused reading this whole thread and I feel like people don’t understand that it is suppose to be slow. In fact the progression isn’t that slow at all you can easily reach level 100 in all crafting professions in a couple of days.
If you have 200 professions, especially armour, you should be making decent profit and if not then you are doing something wrong.
You realise that they changed it to exactly this right? They basically made it so lower mat crafts give less xp when you hit the thresholds of unlocking new stuff.
I would say second half of 2022 for sure though.
Why does everything need to be fair? Or why AGS need to follow ‘unwritten’ rules of MMO world?
Game can be much better in many parts, especially in Quality of Life, but for the most part, changes designers have made seem to follow vision they have. Unlike many other western games, New World requires more work and different kind of thinking. For example I don’t remember any game for a long time where money actually matters on max level.
So instead of complaining you can try to keep open mind and learn new ways to play. I have one crafting skill over 150 (armouring) and although change to crafting feels strict, you can still level those skills. When leveling you just choose recipe that uses least amount of primary material on your level (e.g. silk gloves for tier 4 in armouring) and use tier 2 material for everything else. This actually increased my speed in leveling armouring after the change, so you just need to change your thinking.
I have played MMOs close to 20 years and for the last 4-5 years it seemed that every game just does same things over and over again. New World feels different and although I agree that sometimes you get a feel that the designers haven’t played any other MMOs, it might be good thing because they are not just trying to duplicate other games.
In the end it is a question if the parts you like are more than parts you don’t. And I think nobody can make that decision for others. However I believe that if you just play the game as it is and not try to compare it to ‘the perfect game’ you have in your mind, you might find more enjoyment.
They would need to add items to those 100 new levels.
Well said, I am down for them extending time spent.
I think the issue is that it has been a bumpy road and I don’t have a problem with the game itself just the way they are executing some of the changes. Changes are coming in as stealth nerfs and are not being communicated properly which is causing a lot anger in the player base.
And yes new world is doing it different which is really good.
I dont have a problem with the way crafting is. My problem is because they changed it when live. If they had given 0 xp for low level crafts after your craft level reached a certain point from the beginning I dont think many people would have been bothered. However they cling onto the pyramid scheme of low level mats being more valuable than high ones. Iron oe is like 20 times the price of platinum in TP for example.
Should have started this way.
Sure, I agree with all those points. It should be slow, difficult, and an achievement to get to 200.
Did they make it more difficult to craft?
Did they add a new mechanic that makes it more engaging to craft?
Did they add any new items that would make it more unique to craft?
No. They didn’t. They artificially increased the grind. That’s all the did.
It’s the same crafting. But now it just costs an additional 250,000 of the same material for every profession.
You’re still going to be making thousands of useless items and salvaging them immediately after.
You’re still going to me harvesting hundreds of thousands of early game items like iron.
You just need to harvest hundreds of thousands more now.
That’s it. That’s the only change. This is not a good change. It’s an artificial increase to the grind for an already tediously grindy system. Nothing more.
I agree I am not 100% happy with it but I still play it cause that’s how it is now.
This is because iron ore is more sought after than platinum. Platinum is primarily used in jewel crafting whereas iron is used in a lot of crafting professions most people will always want iron and not everyone will want platinum.
Yeah I understand what you are saying. I think it was a blunder from amazon not to expect people to no life the game and smash out professions and GS and we are now paying the price for those blunders in many different ways.
But we are still playing and I am actually really enjoying this game. The first game since the DayZ mod released where I am committed to the grind and the game.
And if it goes to shit then I had fun all the same.
Eventually I predict the game will merge conventional servers and create new servers with different gamer parameters for players who would like a different experience and replay ability.
Fathered in gear and players won’t be a factor on those servers.
Just treat today’s toon a s a beta test.
I understand you might very well be having fun.
Do you think that you would be having the same amount of fun if you started playing today?
You’re going to need a cumulative 1,200,000 more material than you did when you started just to achieve the exact same result you did before.
Nothing about the crafting itself is different, you just need 1,200,000 more material than you did before.
At an approximate average rate of 40 iron ore per node, that’s an additional 30,000 iron veins you need to find, mine, and smelt. Not ore. veins. 30,000 additional veins to achieve the very same thing you did when you started.
Do you think a new player would find this change fun?
The same is true of WM grinding. Of refining material gathering. The grind has been increased in nearly every system.
1.1 made a lot of changes to keep those, no matter how it was obtained, in power as the top order in the game. You are really a meat puppet to all of them, or slave to taxes.
It’s annoying how they did it and won’t acknowledge that it isn’t fair and still try to sell it as something positive… It makes me think of if I should continue to spend time in a game that gets changed in such a way …
You need about 300k to max Weaponsmithing and get to 595-600. Let me know once you’ve made that back.
No reason to use platinum in JC, mine it for the gems then drop it on the ground, why waste flux on something that is trash in the system. Iron gets you the top JC ingot in the end.
My skills are not 200 btw.
I totally understand that they haven’t added anything interesting to help and that it is more of a time investment.
If a new player joined they would think its a grind but they also have nothing to compare it to.
Not even hardcore, cause you can do 10 rolls and get a BiS craft or you could do 120+ and not even get something useable.
I suggested that they at least allow us to pick 1 Stat Charm and 1 Perk Charm per craft. It’s typically pointless to pick a Stat Charm in most crafts, but then you pick a perk, but get the completely wrong stat, making the gear at best sellable, at worst completely worthless because there are no good builds that utilize that perk and stat combination.
The old system was terrible, the new system is better.
They don’t have the experience numbers right yet for the difficulty of using the higher mats.
But anyone complaining that they can’t use tier 1 to grind to 200 is saying they wanted the system to stay broken.
