Armor weight / restrictions IDEA!

My 2 cents for the “armor issues”

ATM people are mixing gear to get better protection.
I see this as a flaw in the system.
Also shield DOESNT give the stats UNLESS its being used in hand and not from just equipping it.

I would suggest to change it in a very easy way.
You can remove the “weight” restriction.
Then just apply this rule >> The heaviest piece u wear sets you in that specific weight class<<

Example: You wear 4 pieces light and 1 piece heavy… your in the heavy sector.
Or you wear 3 pieces of medium, 1 piece light and 1 piece heavy… again. you r heavy geared.
So in order to be light geared u need 5 pieces of light gear.
The shield is some issue.
In my opinion the shield should go in 2 catagories,… namely medium and heavy.
So when a player in full light armor equips a shield he becomes medium.

This is just an idea because the whole mixing thing drives me nuts and people only building META builds.

Also,… let the shield give stats if u wear it just like ur secundairy weapons does even when holstered.

besides this whole thing… what about the damage increase and reduction?
Light gear DOES 100% NOT give a 20% increase compared to heavy armor.
At the moment its just plain silly to walk in light gear and o roughly just 8% damage bonus while having the risk getting 1 shotted by a skilled tank.

Thanks!

No! Bad idea. :-1:

great comment,… but can you EXPLAIN why its bad??

Then everyone would go heavy because you cant “boost” light or med gear anymore.

Bad idea

you clearly didnt read the post well enough…

First and foremost, anyone using a sword is automatically forced to medium or heavy which nullifies some special abilities.
If a player has a heavy hat, and is wearing 4 other light armor; they should not be heavy which has some negative connotations.
Basing the total weight class on a single item of armor is not a good way to handle this issue.
The shield should not be considered armor, but a weapon; especially since there are may attacks available to use it.

currently there is absolute no reason to run in light or medium armor beside the dodge roll…

heavy armor just push outs same dps … (just slightly less then light armor)

A shield user could never dodge roll so only shield users should be automaticly be in medium or heavy sets…

With what you are suggesting, even if light gave a high dmg increase, people would still go heavy. Light is already extremely squishy being able to wear medium chest. If they had to wear full light, they would be even squishier.

For most builds, even now, most still run heavy because light and med don’t offer enough of anything. Light dodge roll is nice, but gaxe light attack chain can nearly catch you. Med dodge doesnt do much, and you are still fairly squishy. There just isn’t enough going for light and med to wear then over heavy sadly.

Honestly only build i run light on anymore is my dex build. Int and Str i run heavy lmao.

I read the entire post and its a bad idea. The current weight limits allow you to mix and match a little to get some benefits from different armor types. People mixing and matching is not a flaw in the system. Your idea limits options and builds and dumbs down the game. With your method no one would ever wear 4 pieces of light and 1 piece of heavy since it makes no sense.

everything i read here is based on the CURRENT system with LOW dps increase,

it needs to be corrected to light armor having 20% increase instead of the low 8% as its now

I mean if you are using sword and board you shouldn’t really be in light armor anyways.
