Amazon create an online armory where we can inspect our characters and other peoples characters. It will only enrich the content.
I doubt they will ever allow a function to inspect other people in a game that involves PvP. It creates an unfair advantage for some people.
No, it will not âonly enrich the contentâ. Why do you think so? This would be the first step to gear score stalking/shaming and more people will be excluded from game content by elitist jerks.
Itâs another âMake this game like WoWâ idea. In fact, I think itâs called âThe Armoryâ for WoW.
It used to be called the WoW Armory, youâre right. Now its just part of the basic search function on their website; pulling up character profiles.
I donât feel strongly either way about adding it as a feature down the road.
Nope, bad idea. This is the slippery path to elitism and toxic behavior. We simply have no need for such a thing.
In a game where people can pic and chose who enters wars, it would create too much toxicity and bar many players from even trying it.
WoW isnât the first mmo to have a place online where you can inspect your characterâŚi really donât feel that it would be a negative addition. With the mechanics of New World how can inspecting other players create an unfair advantage over other players or create a negative atmosphere. I really donât understand. ANY game where i have a place i can go and look at my character without logging inâŚfrom GTA to WoWâŚits a nice feature to have. Everybody wants to compare ideas to WoWâŚtheirs a reason WoW has been around this longâŚâsomeâ of their early ideas really worked.
Problem is with profiles being public.
How can it not be a negative addition in a game where company leaders hand pick who can be in a war? Casual players will never be allowed to join a war if someone can openly inspect their entire character and use it in judging who can play or not.
Because then that opens up the elitists to create MOUSE OVER ADDONS to highlight a quick GEARSCORE to show above the opposing players head.
PVPer " Oh Im steering clear of him - they have a 600 GS "
Pvper " Oh he is a 500âŚTheres my victim"
Stop trying to make this game like wow. if you miss it soo much. go back to fake narnia
Pretty much this right here. I enjoy the anonymity of the game right now. The only thing people will âjudgeâ us by is our level and that is quite honestly enough.
You mean it lets people keep their discovered advantage hidden better? Almost every other MMO has an inspect or armory function. It breeds equality, and for those people who think theyâre so special they want to hide their gear/build, they usually find a way to keep it vague or unknown. The only downside I can see to this is potentially having an unbalanced meta better defined and it going unhotfixed.
And as far as toxicity and judgement, those who are set up at a disadvantage will have well known templates to improve their setup. And If they donât want to improve themselves then maybe they shouldnât be getting picked for wars.
Another downside you donât see is: people who donât keep their builds up to date with whatever youtuber xy says wont be considered for groups, wars, invasions etc. since their build is âwrongâ.
You already got that in every other mmo. Want to know my build? then ask.
There is 0 chance that an armory will " breed equality" as you state. That simply will not happen. It will however create a more toxic environment as many have already stated.
If you want to know someoneâs build simply ask them. If they donât want to tell you, watch them. There are 3 skills they can actively use for a weapon, it isnât that hard to watch and figure out what they have put points in and then make a good educated estimate of what passives they took.
Thereâs far fewer MMORPGs that have this than you think, lol. If youâre going to say such things, please back it up with a list of games.
Why do you think it would bread equality? It will show what people have more time to play than others, what players can run dungeons more than others, what players are given more stuff than others, etc etc, which will then result in who will be chosen for wars over others, which will promote inequality.
The mindset of asking me for a list to back it up is the same mindset as me wanting an in-game armory or player inspect feature. I donât want to take someoneâs word for their gear or builds. I want a list.
Anyway,
FFXIV, Runescape, WoW, Diablo(I know not an MMO), Wildstar, Aion, Rift, lost arkâŚ
It breeds equality because people are more likely to look at an armory or inspect someone than ask for help. So there will be more people self improving, especially those who feel something is horribly wrong with the way theyâre playing but they havenât asked for external help for one reason or another. It will minimize the discrepancy between those who want to casually play, and the hardcore min maxers.
Thereâs no escaping not being able to get into a war because other people outgear you. Mark my words, leaders will start requiring people to meet up before wars for selection, or only invite the people they know have upkept their gear. And thatâs much more toxic than inspecting people or going to an armory. Your worries with casuals being excluded from some content is legitimate but itâs going to happen either way because of bad game design, so thatâs another topic.
Aion didnât let you inspect enemy players, also wouldnât show unless the other player had the details set public
Wildstar - died pretty quick
Rift - Couldnât inspect PVP flagged players
Lost Ark - Canât see much about inspecting enemy players on google and know nothing of the game.
I wonât even count Diablo 3, as itâs not a MMORPG
These games also donât have the function where a player determines whoâs allowed to fight in a war or not.
This is such a ludicrous idea.
If people feel like they need help, they will Google it and end up on YouTube watching some streamer tell them the best way to play the game (we wonât go into whether or not that advice might be valid or not). They arenât going to improve themselves just by inspecting other players.
Bingo. Its the single player deciding who comes is the issue.
You based the credibility of an inspect/armory system on whether or not other MMOâs had one. I list other games that have a similar system and now you have stipulations that mean nothing. You may as well have just said âmy opinion is right no matter what so donât waste your timeâ
I feel like anyone who hardcore hates the idea of an armory or inspect system is the same type of person that goes to planet fitness every day and gets more out of shape.
