As predicted, legacy servers are dying. Does AGS have any plans to save their most loyal player base?

Lmao
Predicted?

It’s an even week for FSS.

Wait after the event is over to see if it’s true. Till then, just don’t.

All of the “new” legacy servers are below 1000 players. Some of them are down to a couple hundred. The “old” legacy servers are all around 1500 to 2000 players.

They need to merge all of the sub 1000 servers soon-ish. Maybe a few weeks from now to see how populations stabilize.

All the new legacy servers on west were already that low. And YGG and El Dorado have only lost like 200 peak. I know on YGG at least, many are playing the event and will be back.

I’ve asked for specifics, because on the servers I keep my eye on, not much has changed.

They on FSS. That is what will save “the most loyal player base”. Come on guy

Delos went from 2500+ queue during brimstone week to about 2k peak to 1500 peak last night. Eridu was getting to around 1200 peak to only 800. Agatha which was opened up when Eridu wasn’t even half full has barely got 200 people at peak and should only be a matter of weeks until it’s merged probably first into Eridu and then Eridu into Delos (in fact I might transfer to agartha so I can load up on oricalcum ahead of the merge).

Meanwhile the two OCE fresh start servers both hitting 2500 and 1800 peaks last night.

As a patented member of these forums I promise you that if we did not overreact, we might not react at all.

Literally this. What’s with these purposely misleading titles? Saying thing to create a false narrative to boost FSS? Something else? Can’t we all just enjoy legacy servers and FSS and perhaps wait to make such claims? No need to create this whole competition. Just enjoy what you enjoy. People need to stop getting so viscerally invested in this. Or perhaps catastrophizing everything?

I don’t think legacy servers have died yet and am still leaning towards fresh starts dying in a month. Since AGS has decided to permanently divide the playerbase with fresh start, one of them will inevitably become the “main” worldset while the other dies off.

It would be an interesting decision if they forsake their core playerbase, basically forcing players to start from scratch and erasing their efforts from a year of continuous support and feedback.

But we’ll just have to see how it plays out.

It’s actually nice on the fresh start servers because people are flagged up more so it’s just been a brawl out and about

Since it will be only possible to transfer from FSS to Legacy and not the other way around Id bet my money on Legacy being the “main” servers.

These topics are so cringe XDD

I for one am loving them. From the lack of toxic gatekeeping energy and posts white knighting for the devs you can tell which portion of the forum users are the actual toxic ones :joy:

Like the change up in energy from telling FSS players to stop asking for server support and to play on open servers in different regions to seeing these ‘legacy’ players clutching pearls over temporary server dips is just chef’s kiss.

Finally someone said it XDD

They want money. I dont think they care either way about who is playing where. I dont even think they themselves play this game lol.

Loyal players dont bring in consistent revenue aside from cosmetic purchases, but a decent guess is they are paying dev salaries with the original tens of millions of dollars they made pre launch and at launch.

But fresh start did bring in some new players with the steam half off deal. Thats cold hard cash for the corporation :money_mouth_face::money_mouth_face::money_mouth_face::money_mouth_face::robot:

One telling sign of all this, is that they dont charge a sub for the game…i mean they dont even think the game is worth 60$ lol

Lol. No, they are not dying. And just because people went to FSS does not make them any less “loyal” than you. Lol. Hyperbole much?

“Loyal”? Is this some sort of cult?… :joy:
Dying because I’ve not played my character on a legacy server. I’ve 3 chr slots so…. Merge and then everyone logs in their older chrs and people will complain of long queues! This is the hazard of tiny servers.

This whole thread screams… “Look at me! I am the Captain!”

Sort of makes a mockery of all the “why would anyone want FSS???” threads we had to endure for months, doesn’t it?

There has been a slight dip in the “legacy” servers (wth does that mean anyway? They’re not legacy, they’re current) at some times but I’d argue the primary cause of that is Brimstone’s falling lure. I think AGS overestimated just how many players the BS release would pull in. Just look at the EU servers they added in the build up:

  • Tir Na Nog (this is my server, easily the busiest of these new servers, full of PVP companies that left the other busy serves to seal club, which is probably the prime reason your server is quieter btw) 1470 / 2500
  • Fae 1009 / 2500
  • Niflheim 936 / 2500
  • Caer Sidi 865 / 2500
  • Tupia 813 / 2500
  • Thule 659 / 2500
  • Albraca 397 / 2500
  • Jotunheim 391 / 2500
  • Ishtakar 318 / 2500

So many new servers! All of those except Fae, Caer Sidi and TNN were never close to full. They were opened before/during the release of BS and they just never gained the influx of players AGS predicted.

The reason your server is quieter now is because AGS opened too many new servers and all the “average fish in a big bis pond” PVP companies on your server decided they wanted to be the big fish in the small pond and transferred to those to seal club (then others joined in to try to balance it out).

It is, literally, the “legacy” servers (that opened less than 30 days ago lol… “legacy” indeed) that have caused your server’s decline, if any. And if your server is one of those newer servers then the decline is because BS won’t keep players playing forever, which is a natural and to-be-expected phenomena of MMORPGS releases.

Yes, some players will have moved to FSS. Because they’re fun! I have an alt there and I play both my main and my alt. That probably won’t change (I am not throwing away over 1500 hours). But this isn’t the problem. And if it were the problem then what does it say about standard servers?

“plans to save their most loyal player base?”

Well, maybe not you but most of us are just playing on the fresh start servers. If you hadn’t noticed, the numbers have not just stayed the same with loads of people that played on legacy servers leaving, being replaced by players that left the game months ago returning on the new fresh start servers. The numbers have more than doubled from a week or 2 ago and obviously the fresh start servers are attracting more attention currently.

Don’t worry, many will be returning to their characters on the legacy servers at some point, including myself (3.1k+ hours).
