Why do you have to run win11? I’ve yet to upgrade any of my machines to win11 from win10 by choice.
My body is ready!
I have to run Win11 so i won’t hulk smash the system on a daily basis whenever win update forces itself upon me, trying to install win 11 updates only to deinstall everything once installed and restarting my system 4 times in the process only to tell me to install win11 soon which triggers a round of “deactivating all updates” on a daily basis to not get a daily reminder to install win 11 … i am mentally abused at this point
Alright,
personally, I have no experience with megaport. One of my go-to shops in the Netherlands is Alternate, I know they deliver in Germany as well and have a German online storefront with PC configurator. They also have a reasonably priced option to build a system for you. The only thing left to insert yourself after delivery in that case is the graphics card. Likely done to prevent shipping damage.
Considering that you are not in a hurry and have a high budget. I would suggest the Ryzen 7900X CPU. The best compatible RAM for this is of the DDR5-6000 type. In which for best performance limiting yourself to 2 bars is recommended. With that, there are kits available which bring you to 64GB of RAM which is far sufficient for any game these days and will be sufficient for quite a number of years to come.
What you’ll furthermore notice with RAM is CL. This stands for CAS latency. The higher the number, the greater the latency. Hence, perhaps a bit counterintuitively, you’ll want a low CL for better performance. With that in mind, DDR5-6000 64GB 30 CL kits are best compatible available on the market currently that I am aware of, from G.SKILL.
GPU wise I would wait for AMD’s announcement, to see how price competitive their lineup will be. The RTX 4080 12GB/16GB variants in my opinion are having a too high RSP in my opinion. A 3080Ti could be an alternative, in case AMD isn’t price competitive and the 3080Ti lineup doesn’t vanish from the market completely. This obviously being a bit of a gamble between waiting and not.
The last truly important piece of hardware these days is the power supply. Depending on the combination of GPU and CPU ultimately picked on, take one which is compatible, and don’t go for some cheap off-brand product. Consistent power delivery, as well as sufficient power delivery, is becoming more and more important with high-end hardware under stress quickly demanding 500+ Watt these days.
For SSD’s my personal go-to brand has been Samsung for years. Thus far never failed me, not in regular SSD’s, not in M2 SSD’s.
Motherboard wise, don’t go overboard. Anything in the 200 - 300 Eur range from one of the top-tier brands is by far sufficient, as long as it has the right socket. The 300+ range offers no extra noticeable performance. And even 200 - 300 Eur boards, offer little to no noticeable performance improvement over a 150 - 200 Eur range, but just overall handy connectivity features. So basically, look at what you need, that being e.g., USB connectivity, WiFi, Gbit LAN connection, etc.
And lastly, myself I’m a major fan of large tower cases. Specifically, for the reason you mention. New parts may not fit in mid towers or worse, small cases. I tend to last roughly 10 years with a CPU these days, with a GPU upgrade cycle of roughly every 3 years. It’s nice to have the space for this in the case. Large cases also add the advantage of much more fan space, which can be run at lower RPM and hence less noise.
It’s just an example, this is my setup:
- CPU = 5800X I bought around 350€
- GPU = 3070 FE I bought 517€
- MB = Aorus B550 Pro AC I bought around 180€
- RAM = Corsair Vengence 32Go I bought around 150€
- Noctua NH-D15 Chromax.black I bought 109€
- I bought a New case for airflow = Be Quiet 500 DX I bought around 110€
- I kept my SSD, obviously.
So total is around 1417€ without monitor. With monitor add 500€ (2k + 27"). Those prices are in France.
With this setup, I run New World at 60 FPS in open World, dungeon, OPR. Around 50-55 in Wars and cities.
My settings are in custom, main medium with some in high.
I Hope this give you an Idea of what you want and/or expect.
Thank you so much! This is exactly what i needed. Understood everything (did some research before) big thumps up ![]()
Thank you, too! This is a great set up to start from. I can pin point the price area thanks to that ![]()
Hinsichtlich Preis/Leistung sollte man abwägen, was die Grafikkarte angeht.
Edit: Since you are in Germany I assumed you understand German. If that’s not the case, I apologise, and will gladly give my feedback in English. I am just currently at work and typing from my mobile, so it’s not the quickest.
Danke dir!
Although must is obviously a strong word in this case, I would personally say if the rush is not there, waiting most definitely doesn’t bring any harm in this matter. In particular the single core performance of the latest generation Ryzen CPU’s is improving quite a bit further. Which in particular for games which aren’t well optimized, generally speaking bring a noticeable performance improvement.
Obviously, game specific benchmarks will help in this matter (although I doubt New World will be on the more mainstream benchmark lists).
The second part I agree on, current gen RTX cards have been dropping quite a bit in price recently though, placing them on more of a competitive level with the RX 6800 XT for example. But question is obviously, for how long.
Also here though, if there’s no rush, I’d say wait those few weeks for the AMD announcement. If AMD manages to stick to their usual bang for buck approach, the wait in this matter may be worthwhile. Even if New World may be poorly optimized, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a performance leap.
If you look at for example the 2080 super versus 3080, or 5700 versus 6800, there is a non-negligible performance jump. You’re easily talking roughly 60 fps gain in 1440p outside of towns in high graphic settings. In towns the increase is less substantial, but enough to make the difference between unplayable to at least playable.
Based on expected performance of the upcoming AMD GPU lineup, as well as given specs of the Nvidia GPU lineup, it’s very unlikely not to see a significant further performance improvement. And the 7800 XT is at least speculated to fall in a decent price range, making it a worthwhile upgrade.
Absolutely agree, but just to avoid misunderstanding: German „musst nicht“ translates to a „don’t need to“, regarding his/her question whether awaiting the new gen pieces is needed. I stand by my choice of words, it is not needed.
Most likely the performance of the next gen pieces will be better, but that’s more of a personal preference: do you want to wait and get the top of the line, or not. Not a matter of I need that to be able to play ![]()
Aye, I know. Hence why I phrased it as such, basically saying the same thing, it’s not really a matter of needing it to be able to play.
I do think though that for the possible performance boost, versus relatively little time to launch of the AMD lineup, waiting can be considered. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the CPU/GPU combination to rock a steady 144+ fps on average outside of cities on highest settings @ 1440p, as well as wouldn’t be surprised to see it hit at least 90 fps in the less populated towns and probably closer to 60 fps in the busier towns.
This in contrast to e.g., the 6800 XT which performs well outside of towns, but tends to dip the around 70 fps in less populated towns and go as low as 30 - 40 fps in crowded towns such as Everfall.
Obviously, anything will be a major upgrade over his current system. But with the 7800 XT launch date currently expected to be November 3rd with more info expected very soon, the wait is very limited.
But well yeh, down to @Archimedes in the end. Up to him obviously on as to whether or not he wants to wait or end up wanting a new setup quickly anyway
.
I wants! Obviously. New setup (after reviewing the 7000 series later this year) it is. And thanks to all of you, i can now make reasonable choices in the near future. I consider this thread as successfully solved. ![]()
This pc is literally what you need for NW lol. If you want to go for 4k, you simply need new gpu. For 1440p - 3080+
Also, you can update this specific cpu legally to win11 ![]()
Yep. His cpu is not being bottlenecked here. Honestly any new graphics card would be good.
When running outside (EF i.e.), my CPU and GPU are at 95% or ticking up to those % rapidly
(on terrain and object details set to low, shadows med, light med, fps uncapped, fps capped via nvidia control center to 40, pre rendering on low or med and so on).
There might be another issue hidden there, however i do want to upgrade the whole system and use the AW OLED monitor. This is a 5 year project saving up money to prep for games like NW and UE5 future games.
Getting proper air cooling and a good 3080
Honestly you arent gonna see much improvement.
Take it from somebody who started NW
with a ryzen 3900x/ 2070 and ended up
building 12900k w/ 3090TI and really
not much has changed.
Overload on gpu is most likely the cause… I own this cpu.
Find a good deal on 3080.
I built my Ryzen 3900X with my RTX 3080 system in 2020 and have had almost no issues running New World on high.
The price of some of the 5000 Series CPUs have gone down and even the 3000 Series Video Cards have dropped. You can build a really decent rig for a decent price now. There are some pretty good build videos and lists shared on YouTube that might be worth watching.
Good luck, hope you can put somethin good together.

Yea you got something else going on for sure. I have a very similar rig as you with the same cpu, ram size, win10, but a 1080 (not ti) and I play on a 3440 x 1440 on med/high graphics with nothing overclocked. I lose some frames in the towns of ww and ef during peak times but it’s still tolerable. Everywhere else is butter smooth.
What is using the majority of your cpu/gpu resources?
