While theyâre looking at it. Can they look at Regeneration rate of Stamina or the fact that tons of threads are coming up wanting something to be done with the fact that players can just easily get away from you due to dexterity and rapier.

WOW loot is 95% trash. Unless you get raid loot, the rest is pretty much trash. Wait . . . you are going to argue that it is usable, therefore it is not trash. Uhh . . . ok. So is a lot of this gear. But then again, WOW drops how many whites? Wait, so many that there are addons that will autosell whites?
People are expecting perfection. The problem is that they are expecting perfection for the build that they want and then think all the rest is pure garbage.
I run a 300str/50dex/100+con build. For Lazarus, I run a Warhammer and a Void Gauntlet. I got a Legendary 600 VG with 20 str and 10 dex off the TP for 200g. Someone thought it was trash because it was not Int or Focus. I thought it was PERFECT. It fit right into the build. It lets me put down roots and oblivions then switch to my warhammer.
I think that if people look deeper into this, yes, there is some pure garbage loot. To me, it is more perk related. But the game has to have throwaway loot. You canât have someone open a box and BOOM, there is that 30int FS with perfect perks. Once you do that, they will have NO need to do that box or expedition again. That is bad MMO business.
@Willard Willard, please pass this along, the solution to the RNG / Umbrals that would SIGNIFICANTLY improve crafting and decrease player frustration is simple:
Umbrals should allow you to:

move crafted items to 600 and have them roll a random third perk (doing this would make the item BOP)

reroll perks with umbrals on legendaries only
This creates:

more demand for crafted items. People will buy good bases to push to 600 instead of just not buying them at all (which is happening now)

open up the market for people to buy multiple good bases so they can gear out lots of alternate builds for different encounters / scenarios and alternate weapon setups. This is a GOOD thing since alts do not exist. Keep players playing by allowing them to build out lots of different build types (like an alt). With the current RNG setup, its hard enough to work towards BIS in ONE weapon combo setup.

give more control to players, lessen RNG, lessen frustration and ridiculous money sinks (like crafting x10 amulets only to have 6 roll with mining / logging luck, what a joke)

give more reason to run mutators (because youâll need the umbrals to bump your crafted gear / reroll perks), giving more value and demand to the orbs, pushes more players into end game content which increases social interactions / group availability.

Stops legendaries (which roll far and few between) with a bad perk from being useless / dead in value.

Increases a sense of gear pride / player progression as you work to bolster your gear.
P.S. - no item should roll with a gathering luck type. This should have to be forced. This instantly kills any item and makes it near impossible to sell.
you canât do that mate, cause then whats the point of trying to make 600 gs. That would kill the people who put work into being able to make 600gs items.
Legendary items can be bumped to leggo, and theres actually some rly good named items, even some BiS. get those for the time being, armor is the only thing that is good for crafters since you want weapon perks on armor, so any found armor is useless
personally id rather see a second gem type slot that breaks whatever was in the slot previously but with charms.
roll utility (like gathering luck, normal luck, weapon skills) perks into all charms. make charm slots, make charms rare or craft able (needs like 10 of a kind + umbrals).
give players more control of their specific builds. make the charms expensive enough to discourage over gemming.

How so? Just because you can re-roll with umbrals doesnât guarantee you get what you want, ever. RNG is still RNG. Being able to flat out buy your bis is a HUGE win for most people as it removes the extreme time sink you will still take on trying to reroll a perk. Then you can move onto your next slot to work on moving into BIS.
Most MMOâs survive the test of time because of alts. Alts do NOT exist in this game, but a plethora of weapon / gear sets do. Maybe one day I want to play a gaxe/warhammer 200con / 300str bruiser. But next week I want to go back to a void blade / IG build. This is a whole new set of BIS gear / perks to optimize. Good luck trying to gear multiple builds with the current RNG, its a slog and just makes people want to quit.
Umbral shards are so ez to get tho, so getting 600 three perk items will also be ez to get. There needs to be some kind of grind here, again ur argument falls flat.
Cause basically you can get armor that isnt 600, upgrade to 600 for what, at most 5k shards ? or less. Third perk is trash so try again. You literally get so much that crafting will no longer have any meaning.
This game has a terrible RNG system, but at the same time its way to ez to cheese with what u want to implement.

let us make set timeless shards like breach closers sets from those portal boxes. salvaging them gives you a piece and you would need maybe 10 to craft into a shard. that shard would always come with corruption ward so that is one less variable to worry about when used with a timeless shard.
also is it even possible to get the spy set at 590+? mangled only drops stuff up to 530 it looks like.

Can you elaborate on the easy part? I have 700 hours clocked and one BIS piece and three legendaries. And this is for ONE build. I want to try/play multiple builds for different situations. The only way to grind BIS at the moment is spamming trophy runs for cash then placing buy orders for mats to craft egregious amounts of gear that 1) doesnât sell 2) sells at the mat price or lower
At least dungeon grinding mutations for umbrals to bump your gear / reroll your gear will be more entertaining / interesting than mindlessly running around looting chests for trophies to afford spam crafting. This lines up more with any MMO where you grind PVE for gear, not loot chests / spam crafts to gamble your BIS (which no one thinks is fun).
Even with the proposed method, it will most likely still take you 1-2 months+ to build ONE bis gearset for ONE situation (OPR / dungeon or war). And honestly, that is probably only if you are running mutations daily.
I had a guild mate craft 20 great axes last night and only one was useful. Tell me this is good design / gameplay with a serious face. Its egregious.
so alter the cost of the re-roll. Make it take 2 mutations to reroll one perk. People will still pay for BIS leggos because it will allow them to skip the mutation grind completely. But those who want to dungeon grind for BISâŚnow have a way to do so and have some control. This maintains the dungeon market and the crafting market and gives sustainability to the game because now in 4-6 months time I can most likely gear out 3-4 builds which gives me a lot of replayability (like an alt).
Please review the above post @Willard - this is not good endgame and why people are quitting in droves. Timeless shards attempted to fix the issue of âlack of controlâ but its not enough, and its still not fun or engaging.
Making changes that will help casual and semi hardoce players obtain their 600 GS items doesnât mean you gonna remove the grind completely. There is several layers of grinding:
- You need to obtain epic resources (amodeum, runic leatherâŚ)
To abstain materials for a single roll you need to grind for several hours. - You need a timeless shard
You can buy it on AH mean you need to grind the gold for it, or you can drop it by yourself in Lazarus or Genesis. To be able enter one of those you need a tuning orb thatâs other several hours of grinding resources - You need the gods of RNG on your side
So now you have your materials ready to click the Craft button. You RNG from 595 to 600, so unless you roll 600 GS you will stick with 2 perks only. So letâs imagine you roll 600 GS, you have your selected perk and 2 randomly rolled. As in 99,99% of the time the two randomly rolled will be absolutely garbage.
So what you are left with?
An item that sux and wonât sell even for the half price of the materials invested.
So what you gonna do?
Go back to the grinding board and start all over again.
What happen next?
You gonna roll some 595 GS with one good perk, getting yourself a very, very expensive repair parts.
How long do you think people will keep doing this?
Well not very long as countless hours of their grinding ends up with empty hands.
You need to make BIS items much easier to obtain and leave your obsession with RNG behind.
i think an alternative take is needed.
with mutations we need bis expedition gear x 3 (for now)
each one rotates per week so you have 2 weeks of off time 1 week to some how meander through the first one.
2 weeks / 7 slots (trinkets are pretty universal) thats IF you have time to do materials grind instead of running expeditions (assuming you dont have time for both as many players dont (running 2-5 hours a night))
expeditions now do drop really good expediton sets but they are bop and random. so those dont help at all.
That is not question of time. You canât argue with a system that is actually build on a simulationcraft with 1 million iteration like the wheel of luck stockpiles. We are getting s*itted on with gear on every corner. In stockpiles in elite stockpiles in gypsum casts in dungeon chests in mob drops in crafting and thatâs still not enough to make a âyellowâ bag âfeel goodâ.
Actually you have the feeling:
- âman i was baited⌠its a crafting material worth 3 coinsâ
or: - ânice⌠str/int with dex perk weapon perkâ.
You can do that in a game like Path of Exile or Diablo, where you drop even more stuff on every corner. Timeless shards was a good start but you need to reduce the chance to drop legendaries and make the attributes smarter. A yellow bag should be exiting and not feel like a disappointment.
Another point is the salvage aspect. 6 parts and 3 coins⌠for real? I mean come on⌠a legendary drop actually feels like a green item. 99% of time you just wanna salvage it. Diablo 3 did smart loot 10 years ago. I still donât know why you make so many bad design decisions while the whole gaming community have seen mistakes from other BIG MMOs (and New World is not a big MMO right now) and ask themself âdude why they do the same mistakes blizzard did 10 years ago?â
And when it comes to mutations, why do you timegate people even more? Let people min max their gear for the expedition THEY want to play and not forcing them to have 3 gear sets for mutations. Especially when your system isnt even ready to filter gear properly or is having a gear manager. I mean⌠that amount of items and gearsets and still not a gear manager in 2022 is pretty bad.
