[Aurora Project] Changes in "Castle Siege" : Tools to manage groups

> [Aurora Project] What New World could become <

Greetings to all.

The so-called “Aurora Project” is a set of ideas divided into several Post, where they will be treated individually and precisely. It is very important to understand that these suggestions are my way of understanding and improving New World, and that of course any other opinion is totally valid as well. I ask for the maximum possible respect in these Posts that I am going to discuss, and if anyone wants to comment, I would ask you, please, that they read the entire Project, all Post with the Tag “[Aurora Project]” and written by me: “Lobo_Necrodes”, to understand its objective.

More Posts will be added over time and with new ideas. I accept contributions from other users who send them to me by Private Message to continue creating a “New World”.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PvP Wars involve a large number of players and that is why organization is a very important element to win the battle. That is why I want to suggest some elements that help to visualize the basic guidelines, so that players know at all times what to do and who to go with.
They are basically visual elements to help organize. So that players know which group to belong to and what their group’s role is.
I will divide it into three parts (With WHO, WHERE and WHAT to do), but before this I want to talk about perhaps the most important figure in Node Wars: “Captain General”.
Maybe you know him by another name, probably “Caller”, but he basically is the person who gives the orders in a war. He is the person who commands the troops and makes the decisions.

These changes are thought so that Node Wars become something more serious and strategic, and that our “Captain General” can identify the troops more easily to make better decisions in real time.

Now yes, let’s start:

“Marks” to know with WHO you should do:

A simple way to identify “Groups of Players” that have different functions (attack a door, defend a door, conquer a node, anything), they can easily be identified as “Chess Pieces”.

A “filled” piece would be assigned for the “Group Leader”, and the same but “empty” pieces for the “Group Members”. This way everyone would know who their group is and which players to go with. In addition, these pieces would have the color of their respective faction.

Players would only be able to see the pieces of their own faction, since it is impossible to know the organization that the enemy team has given its soldiers. But it would be easy to send orders to your players on Discord or Chat saying phrases like:

  • Tower to create a group of “Defenders” (Who will stay defending Base).
  • Bishop to form a group of “Archers” (That they will only attack players but not fortresses).
  • Horse to form a group of “Attackers” (That they will attack only fortress, but not players).
    Etc.

Each player would have their “Chess Piece” on top of their head so that everyone would know which unit they belong to (It would be great to have options in the game menu to decide if you want to see all the “Pieces”, only those of your group, only certain groups, etc).
And also, all these pieces should be visible if you open the map, to see where your Guild is moving and how it is doing things. It would be like seeing a “Chess Board” from above in real time.

Here are two examples of how it could be used:

One example uses “Filled Tokens” for “Capitals” and “Empty Tokens” for “Members”, and the other example the opposite; “Filled Tokens” for “Members” and “Empty Tokens” for “Captains”.
I did this because after doing tests, I noticed that the “Empty Tokens” (Filled in white), attract more attention and are more easily seen than the “Filled Tokens”, therefore I think that perhaps the “Captains” should use them.

These “Marks” should be able to be assigned directly to players within the Guild, so that each player knows at all times what their role will be in the next Node War. And furthermore, this way the same players could always have the same functions, to be able to improve the organization more and more in the Wars.

I think it’s all pretty straightforward and you understand the concept.

“Marks” to know WHERE you should do:

In Node Wars there are “objectives” to meet.
Break a door. Protect a point. Defend an entrance. Bomb an area. Etc.
All these points should be able to be marked in some way to know where they are specifically. That is why they suggested a system of basic numbered marks.

As you can see, they are very simple markers, easy to identify, which are numbered from “01” to “infinity” (perhaps “30” at the most so as not to abuse them), and which use a color that attracts attention and does not use no specific faction.

In this way we could mark a door as “01”, for example. Or an area of the map like “15”, for example. They serve to mark things and have “Reference points”, in this way more precise orders can be given, like the one I mentioned before:

  • Tower Team to defend our Gate “01” (Cited above).
  • Bishop Team to attack Gunners “11”, “12” and “13” (Cited above).
  • Horse Team to attack and conquer Gate “06” (Cited above).
    Etc.

A simple practical example:

Ideally, these “Marks” can be used about 30-45 minutes before Node War, so that the “Captains” can mark the locations and organize the players.

“Marks” to know WHAT you should do:

These “Marks” come from MOBA games like Dota 2, a game I’ve been playing all my life and that has good tools to communicate with your team without having to speak or write.

I will give an example:

Here you can see how I have the option of using a “Mark” on the ground, which all players will see on their screen in real time and will also have a warning on their minimap; in this way everyone knows how they have to act and at what point on the map they should act.

In New World we could use the following example:

These are some marks that your entire Guild could see, and that would also have a light that rises up to the sky (Like the red lights that rise to the ground in Corruptions, for example, or the blue ones of the Teleportation Portals).

Each brand would have its own identifying color and the light that rises to the sky would have the same color, so they would be easy to identify.

For instance:

  • The blue Shield with an ascending blue light, means “Defend” that area.
  • The red Sword with an ascending red light, means “Attack” that area.
  • The green Flag with an ascending green light, means “Conquer” that area.
  • The yellow Exclamation with an ascending yellow light, means “Avoid” that area.

Currently you can press the mouse wheel to place a “Mark” on the map that your entire group can see. They would be as simple as adding a “dial” with several options (The options that I have put in the example: Attack, Defend, Conquer and Dodge), and that when you release the mouse wheel, it sends the “Mark” you have chosen.

Only “Group Leaders” and Captain General should be able to use this tool.

An example of what it would be like to use all tools:

Finally, add the option to “draw” on the War Map.

Allowing the “Party Leaders” to draw on the War Map would make the directions better understood by everyone. This is something that could also be done in real time, and like the previous mechanics of the Marks on the ground, this mechanic also brought it to Dota 2.

Mini Map Draw

As with the markings on the ground, only “Group Leaders” and the Captain General should be able to use this feature.
Anyone could open their map in the middle of Node War, and see what the “Capitals” are drawing on their map. In this way, more elaborate plays could be drawn in real time.

All these tools that I have commented in this Post, would make that even those players who cannot use programs like Discord, can be well informed of who they should go with, what is going to happen and what they should do.
