It takes so long to run to a shrine anyway. Once you get there you should get a free port.

Something tells me they will try to monetize azoth eventually and people have already been calling for this. If this is true, they will never remove it from travel.

Everyone travels. Not everyone crafts.

For crafting Azoth is a really good system, although the cap could be a bit higher. For traveling sadly it is only Anti-QoL. I want to play a game not run through the environment…

I agree with this in theory, but a big problem with the way the game is designed is that after side quests and main quests dry up, the gold being generated is going to dry up as well.

Outside of those two methods, there is no real way to generate gold. Sure you can play the market, but that’s only temporary as the gold dries up, and nobody has the ability to purchase on it anymore.

Stack that on top of the astronomically high prices of initial buy-in of a house, PLUS the weekly taxes on the house (Which are honestly way, way way too high, even with a low housing tax in the area), people will eventually just not be able to afford housing.

Unless I’m missing something and there is indeed a way to generate gold. But I hit 60 in both CBT and OBT and I didn’t see one.

Killing mobs gives coin. I’m 39 now and if i recall correctly i got 178.1 coins for killing a mob. It appears to be a random occurrence and follows the same line as getting 10 azoth for killing X number of mobs. I never really paid attention before so it caught me by surprise when i saw it above the skill increases.

The mob that gives 176 coin I rlly would like to meet. I would say normally it is less then 10g and there is the problem with the balancing. You get little while paying relatively much. And the company owning a town gets gold for free…

Yo wtf this is big, i had no idea! Thanks

i’ll try and get a screenshot if it happens again, but it might have been alligators or it could be anything above the standard mob type. The more i think about it the more i’m certain there was also a 70 coin one from earlier and that was also an alligator. Long weekend coming up i’ll have to test this and farm gators in cutlass because that’s where i got the 178 coins.

They really need to do something about Azoth. I get they want us to “Explore” the world by traveling but for me, when I spend 10-30 minutes “Traveling” to one area just to turn around and travel back, it becomes boring and non-engaging. I want to log off at that point.

Also a currency that’s used for teleportation really shouldn’t be used as a crafting component as well.

Lastly, if they don’t do anything about it than people will constantly be over them for mounts. I’ve said this before but if they don’t add mounts they should implement an actual sprint for our characters that uses stamina. And TBH, mounts would not hurt the game at all. Later in the future I’m sure the world is going to be big. Maybe something like BDO. So mounts would be needed really.

But most of the time people aren’t out just farming Azoth. Your probably doing other things as well and getting azoth at the same time, so it’s not really a direct time comparison (comparing travel time saved vs how long it takes to get that azoth back) unless you are out farming azoth only and doing nothing else. It’s not a 1 to 1 comparison.

I think leave it in but if anything maybe just adjust the costs IF it’s needed.

It already is centered in 1 or 2 cities currently because none of the other cities have upgrades. The higher level areas are abandoned on my server. I had to run restless shore and weaver’s fen → cutlass keys 3 times yesterday because cutlass has upgrades none of the others have, 90% of this entire game is spent running around. Even the quests in Mourningdale are simply running from one end of the zone to the opposite for some shitty 2k xp quests at level 45+.

Then windsward has upgrades cutlass doesn’t have so it’s just a mess trying to get resources between the two, nonstop running. None of the other cities have t3 upgrades.

I was constantly maxed in Azoth. During beta… I think 500 is the most I had since launch . Brightwood and Cutlass I a near 20 minutes walk… longer if you actually engage in the environment along the way which I tend to do. Lowering the azoth drop rate as they have where you need perk items to get what you got without them is poor design. People who craft constantly are the target audience for those perks and when people are leveling up skills . There’s better perks.

Azoth should max at 10k and their drop rate needs to be bumped back to where it was. Especially when you have 250 + ports.

So far the people who says it’s fine want you to
Sacrifice gold by having a limited use house
Sacrifice skill ups by foregoing perks to only use azoth perks
Sacrifice time… spend more than an hour to farm to pay for a 20 minute trip

The map is supposed to be small because of the portals but limiting use of the portals in an arbitrary manner like this certainly justifies the introduction of mounts . Let players choose how they travel or fix the azoth distribution

I am not sure you have thought that out.

Three houses equal HOW much in weekly taxes to get that use?

Right now, I am going away for 4 days. Guess what . . . my property taxes are nearly 900g for the one house I have. YES, I have all the property tax reduction cards and am level 42 in that city. I am skipping paying taxes this week because I will be gone.

Now multiply that by 3 houses. Hmm. So you are switching azoth to gold and then still don’t have an instant port because you could have a 2 to 3 hour cooldown.

So . . . I don’t think I am creating this problem myself.

I only have one, and it’s 600g per week, and it’s easily less than I make selling extra mat on auction, so, yes, I did think that one through.

I would love to meet these mobs too… I spent all afternoon trying to get more azoth, killing mobs. I got absolutely nothing. Afternoon wasted.
I think we should have 2 things in regards to azoth…

  • Faction quests should give azoth.
  • We shouldn’t have a cap on how much azoth we can have.

Did you?

I am not trying to be a butthead.

Three houses at 900g per week per house is 2700g per week. Remember, the premise of this topic was that the time to get the Azoth was significantly longer than the time to re-earn it.

So now, you are telling me to spend a significant amount of time to get the gold to (1) get 3 houses, (2) farm to support the houses each week. This of course does not include the rep required for each town to support getting the house.

Honestly, I think I have a solution that is not that bad. As I mentioned, you get 10 azoth per 7 mobs killed. That should scale. I have not thought of the scale but as an example, kill level 1 to 10 mobs and it is 10 per 7, kill level 60 mobs and it should be 35 per 7. Figuring out a scale that if I kill mobs for 20 minutes that I have enough Azoth for a 20 minute time savings at full weight load would work.

It seem to be raining Azoth just a week again, but now I’m completely all out. Localized events! People stop doing them so I stop doing them this is why we’re all out of Azoth.

When you see a localized event… do it!

Yup. My starmetal tools have a 41-44% chance for azoth to drop. I can get azoth at a decent pace that way. I also farm azoth from the pirates and skeletons with my aoe build. I’m not built up enough to make that much better than gathering, but it does still work, every so often a mob will drop 10 to 20 azoth.

The problem is not that you cannot farm azoth, it is that if you farm it you can store to little and if you spend it it is too fast gone… Especially if you have to port/craft to different locations. The local stores and the spread of production facilities over the whole map feel horrible then.

Call me a cynic but I believe the Azoth system was implemented purely to make AGS money. It is meant to annoy us to the point of purchasing store items to make life easier. Yes I know Azoth vials or travel perks or whatever are not currently available to purchase but I’d bet money that they will be soon enough.
