Feel like this first impression will be a hard hurdle for New World to recover from now. The game should have had the release date pushed back so the developers could deliver a better game overall.
The Leveling content could have been more thought out with more activities.
The game world could have been fleshed out with more gameplay activities for better open world group content and solo content. Concepts like the Portals could have been looked at to make it more exciting and fun and rewarding.
the instanced PvP could have been given more detail and polish.
The Instanced PvE could have more time to polish and design new concepts. Invasions for example is a neat idea, but more polish could do wonders.
The Open World PvP could have had more development time and planning.
The Combat mechanics and balance could have been more examined and worked on, with maybe some of the new weapons that are coming could have been ready for the release date instead.
Bugs could have been examined more thoroughly.
But the thing that bothers me the most was all the clap back given by the testers and the playerbase to rush the game out the door when we all could see that the game wasnt ready for release.
Correct me if im wrong but… mostly alpha but also beta testing phases are purpose built for exactly that. If a tester feeds back that the game isn’t ready then a good dev usually asks why and considers the criticism. I think the wider point he’s making though is that he identified many of the issues we see now but was ignored generally.
I actually agree. They made getting to 60 too fast, they really needed to slow things down.
TBH, I’m not a hater of the game. I really love NW and feel it was fine to be released (not popular opinion).
Things I don’t like are how fast the leveling process was. Town board remained OP. (I didn’t even use it) and it was still relatively fast process to 60.
My main criticism for level 60 is the watermark system. I literally hate it.
(Profession leveling was too fast too, thanks for changing that… oh wait this should have been done before people were already 200)
How can you think it was okay to be released after the literal shit shower of failures that have happened? They’re using a bucket to try and stop a sinking ship. I can’t comprehend how anyone thinks it was anywhere near to ready tbh.
Salty? Because I disagree? That’s real constructive… well done.
I haven’t played it since I hit 60 and realised how awful the game is. I’ve hoped and continue to hope it will do well, but to see anyone actually say that it’s acceptable in this state is mindblowing.
If you are offended by people pointing out the failures of a game and find it difficult to have your opinions challenged then maybe the forums aren’t the best place for you…
