Bad influencers, herd mentality and an oblivious community

To reinforce what the OP is saying…Asmongold? Just look at what happened from WoW to FFXIV and all the people who flooded over. It is a bad sign of the times.

The doom and gloom is normal hell wow still gets it 12+ years later lol

I had a Tandy TRS80 color computer 2 as my first.

It boggles my mind that twitch streamers were literally streaming hacks/cheats/exploits, USING them, and yet continue to play the game and be allowed to play the game.

Are you blind? Did you miss the PRT with the new weapon, new dungeons and tons of balancing changes?

It is NORMAL for an overhyped game to slowly bleed out population until the core player base is left. This is normal for multiplayers. This happens to every game - take Battlefield or god knows what - on release you have a major hype wave and insane numbers of players and over weeks this goes back to normal and the core player base will keep playing the game until something else grabs their attention.

Transfers already saving the game because everybody who was unhappy with your wasteland server thought about transferring to a healthy server first before leaving the game entirely.

It is normal for people to leave the game once they are done playing it for various reasons, but stop thinking that this is an apocalypse. You are just angry because your server is a wasteland and you are bored. Change something, use your free token to move to a well populated server.

Everyone who has some brain cells left in the head knew that the huge amount of servers at release will not be populated well after a few weeks.

And any game maker with any sense of how to keep players happy would have had server mergers planned for, tested and ready before adding servers they knew would need to be merged.

It is NORMAL for an overhyped game to slowly bleed out population

Usually it takes several years. But New World coped in a few weeks. Jood job AGS!

If you’re reading this and hating the game. Just quit. Damn. You don’t need to shove your opinions down people’s throats and make them stop playing as well.

These people complaining aren’t complaining because they hate the game, they want it to succeed and it’s failed to impress them.

They are complaining because they want it to get better. You’re just telling them to quit.

See the difference?

Do people have that much influence over you? No one is forcing their opinion on anyone, every single person who reads this chooses to do so.

And AGS did plan that ahead, this is why you see the server cluster next to your world name when you select the world. It is fully prepared to be merged and you can even see which servers will be merged.
On top of that they offered free transfers for impatient people.

Years?
Most multiplayer games bleed out the overhyped audience after release in 2-3 weeks.

Thats not true, they offerd free transfers before I bought the game and to entice people to make characters on the new servers because they had to open them and closed existing servers. Being dishonest will not help you make your debate points, it simply makes everyone think less of you.

They are not fully ready to merge, or they would have started it already. You make a lot of false claims and its not helping you here. In short, stop lying.

I agree with the sentiment of your topic but 300k people aren’t playing the game anymore. It’s barely 150k: https://nws.corentincloss.fr/.

The other problem is that they’re all separated on different servers. I’m on a server with 550 people at peak times tops and it feels relatively dead (even though people are still running elites and the likes). Someone who’s on a full server will be playing a completely different game to me as will someone who’s on a sever with less than 100 people.

Edit:

Can we just press F for all the 86 people currently playing on Duat in Vanaheim Zeta

New World - Steam Charts

Someone had the audacity last week to say the numbers were stabilizing solely focusing on that week.

I’m here to tell you that then the numbers are stabilizing again this week, they were stabilizing last week, 2 weeks ago, 3 weeks ago and 4 weeks ago.

The fun fact in all of that is: They haven’t stabilized yet.

I feel like this sunday is going to be a massive new hit to the concurrent playerbase. Just hitting 200k would not surprise me followed by another 50k dip during next week.

I hope I am wrong, but ya’ll seem to think that a lot of people log in and play daily - and they might, you have no way of knowing so it’s just conjecture to sit and say that. What we do know is that less and less people are online at the same time and that suggest that less and less people find the want to stay online - either for an extended period of time or at all.

I didn’t need a YouTuber to tell me the game is in a very bad state right now… It was blatantly obvious 3 days into the game and it is even more apparent that they haven’t gotten their shit together considering the massive bug list on the PTR… I mean… Can you imagine they hadn’t released that PTR?

150k average users huh? You guys are idiots. Who is more likely to have real stats, some third party tool or STEAM where the game is distributed and launched from? LOL

And i think the game is in an interesting state right now. Bad? No. Good? No. Interesting. People are waiting for the new patches, people are waiting for more content.

And the fact that we are losing active players does not concern me. Such games take years to stabilize the core playerbase. Not weeks. There is nothing wrong with fluctuating numbers or even decreasing numbers.

And the amount of players is still insanely high, many of the popular games have only a small portion of the numbers New World is showing daily.

Nobody expected this game to beat the numbers of WoW, CS:GO or League of Legends - those are old, established and very popular games. Does not mean that New World sucks because it can’t beat the giants of the game industry. We do not need millions of players, the game can be profitable without millions of players. And the game can be interesting without millions of players, specially because the servers are capped at 2k population (concurrent).

Oh yeah…it’s us who don’t understand the MMO genre.

Nothing to do with the fact that a massive decline in player engagement within two months of an MMO release on the basis there’s “nothing left to do” is a total failure of an entirely different type!
