Balance Team from New World, do they even play the game?

You know for an hour long video I don’t expect them to say everything that is wrong with a game. That’s really not productive and makes a video longer than needed. They clearly notice issues with balance or they wouldn’t always be balancing weapons. However in terms of how they feel about the void gauntlet that was nice to hear.

If you are looking for something to complain about you will always find something.

Very true but I believe that VG has its spot right now. It applys debuffs for days while also having a good cc spell which is avoidable to a certain extent. What makes it feel too strong is the setup with other weapons and the cc-chains following a scream

I would’ve wished that they at least openly acknowledge the problems and issues there are right now. Openly communicating things like that gives the feeling that they’re listening to the community and that they’re in touch with us.
I just wanted to share my thoughts, definetly wasn’t intenting to make my thread sound complaining, my bad right there.

Need to separate a skill being OP from the experience of being hit by x amount of an ability equaling death and op.

If you get hit by anything in mass (wars/OPR) etc. you’ll die from it. If you get hit by one VG Scream while in a crowd and you don’t use IG for entombed or Rapier for Riposte, you’re dead more often than not. Much less being chain cc’d by multiple Screams.

Most weapons have no ability to counter it so it VG-Scream is a limiting factor on what builds are viable in pvp content. That’s not good. I understand that people dislike Gravity Well cc, but you can easily dash out of it or avoid it’s damage with most weapons. Most weapons have one or more abilities that can respond sufficiently to being hit by Gravity Well. I’m not saying it doesn’t need nerfs, etc.

But not having any counter-play is a problem with Scream in large scale pvp content like Wars especially with all of the d-sync/lag. There’s no way to properly dodge everything as a melee unless other than to spam your dodge as much as possible and hope for the best. Scream pushes more and more builds into IG for Entombed or Rapier for Riposte. It’s not healthy for the meta. You want to encourage more weapons like Spear, etc. into being used.

Or thats just when they wanted to release the BTS photo to hype it up…honestly probably filmed weeks in advanced because they have layers of approval to go through at AGS apparently.

Strongly disagree. At OPR I barely trapped by ice shower, even I got trapped I can manage to escape from most of them

Sounds like you got decent movemend and can play well around the showers. Still, if the enemy is just decent it can cc-chain you after the shower for days without you able to do anything. If the enemy doesn’t suck you are dead assuming you don’t have a rapier which is the only weapon which probably could survive the cc chains.

i think they play as a pve players mostly so… thats it.

Gravity well needs to have its root removed and its damage nerfed by like 50%.
Ice shower need to have its dodge-block taken, only the slow is enough.

All CC should have diminishing returns.
Bow needs to have its root after shot removed.

And your other observations are on point.

Honestly now Light armor have all major benefits and just got buffed last patch.
It’s still silly that a musket boy can instant kill a heavy with 11-15k hp. No idea how its even possible for those few guys to instantly shoot so many bullets in 1-2 seconds. Heavy armors are getting way to much DMG while Heavy is the slowest armor in movement and no rolls when dodge.

Ice Gautlet is not a big issue if the dmg buff would NOT work on secondary weapon. Way to many ppl are ‘using’ this trick.

Also why 300 STR giving GRIT? All DPS classes should NOT have full GRIT! 300 Int, Str, Dex should be DPS and none with GRIT!
Change 300 GRIT on CON.

This game has a balance team?

I disagree, scream was way to op for an INSTACAST SPELL, also they said that they wanted it to be more of a debuff weapon insinuating they didn’t want it to be dps. all roots last 1 sec makes them inline across the board, each spell has there own unique flair to it. you can get scream to last two secs as a finisher not an initiating weapon. yall need to diversify your playstyles. vg was king for like 3 months quit crying and adapt to the meta…

The VG nerf is strange, it’s not a problem without the Ice Spike damage. I’d like to see VG left alone, give hatchet a larger hitbox for attacking, and I’d like to see IG slows scale off intellect up to 300, so that we see less melee using it simply for the root and rend.

Imo they should rework this gravity would be better without this root imo nerf dmg by 30%, skill should work like pull to max 5 foes into center and instantly explode.

They try as PvE players mostly. Having watched the below video, “play” felt a little bit too ambitious.

New World: Dev Gameplay - Dynasty Shipyard Mutation - YouTube

Jokes aside, I don’t think they have enough time to actually play the game as through as we are. Also, we only know what we currently have and what is about to come (PTR). They are most likely playing/testing several different iterations of the game which could cloud anyone’s judgement.

They released the game at a terrible state. Trying to turn things around must have been hell so far.

Nerf bow.

agreed

Because they don’t.

Musket users watches a crayon eater throw a gravity well and dive on a ally.
stickybomb from 5-10 feet away with a 3 second delay.
Headshot a target standing still 5-10 feet away 2+k plus powder burn.
Dodge roll head shot 2+k
Stickybomb blows up while the musket user is fully ramped 5.5k if crited. Thats with a glass canon musket pretty much within melee range.

A musket user is not hiting 11k-15k at long range in 1-2 seconds.

I think New World’s combat team is a joke, but I want to point out:

It’s really not that important for developers to play the game. I know this may sound contrary to surface level logic, but the reality is they have all the information they need and plenty of other things to keep them busy.

They just need to care about wanting good combat and have intelligent designs on how to make that combat good. Quality player feedback and knowledge of the game’s systems is more than enough to give them all the tools they need.

Mate I’m talking about muskets “solo’ing” 11-15k on heavy armors. Not in group fights with debuffs.
There are few but I dont understand how they are doing it.

So you have any kind of proof that a musket user is dealing 15k in one second with a shot?
