I wish you would too
My badges indicate I have!
Same!
Randomly -as they scour every inch of the map while being attacked and ganged? Sure, that’s what I call fun!
Quite simple honestly, since when overwolf is permitted then next is have overwolf either listen to key input or monitor screen for when you click to loot and then display a respawn timer. This can then be applied to everything.
oberwolf doesnt even need to do this, anyone using overwolf can either make a simple tracker as basic as looking for color of the loot circle if certain circumstances are met. that is literally how many bots evade instant capture, either a clever software solution or a physical contraption…
and existing bots can be powered up to mimic slightly more human-unsocial behavior by rather than always fish or harvest they would simply do a random emote or walk a simple pattern during respawn cd…
while other games permit such maps and thus have to take extra precaution to anti botting, new world is still rather new and already doesnt allow addons.
allowing overwolf would result in extra funds from fixing issues being redirected to overwolf inflicted issues… all due to the lazyness of people.
Furthermore… below is Amazons statement which clearly informs you that the overwolf addon is bannable and against TOS… if overwolf only showed your location it would be fine but the moment they showed resources and other things it went against TOS… yes i know its not pulling data from ingame but a website but the issue is showing… if you take a picture of something you normally cannot show and show them the picture… its no better than showing them what you shouldnt have directly.
If the addon is reading or showing anything other than your location on the map - including the location of resources, like nodes, or places of interest, etc. then it is against the ToS.
its english otherwise you wouldnt have been able to read or respond to it
something not being to your liking doesnt mean you can break TOS
besides its design was meant not to be a direct treasure map but like a compass for an estimate location.
if the games design was easy to access & remember loot they would have placed them out in the open more and added large beams, see respawn cooldown and filter on the in-game map for it all…
Didnt know a 2nd monitor was just an app you could download
slippery slope fallacy
a compass that can sense living creatures and plants?
LMFAO you must be really fun at parties. People are getting to nodes before you because you’re slow and don’t remember your route, not because they have a minimap. I’ve never used Overwolf but originally had node routes on a 2nd monitor. It only took me a run or two to remember the entire route. You’re probably just getting beat by people like me who remember their route.
It was not English, it was nonsensical.
I’m breaking TOS every day, as is a huge portion of this playerbase.
Know what the punishment has been? Nothing.
Some of them got 24 hour bans but kept all of their duplicated items. Some of them even got free copies of the game on family shared accounts! Imagine giving people who are literally duping gold and destroying your economy free copies of your game, lol.
Me running a minimap addon to enrich my experience has no impact on you, or anyone else in these forums. Get over it.
What’s it feel like? Seeing guys running around in full Voidbent spending tens of thousands of gold like it’s nothing, that did nothing but exploit a bug to get it?
Every single one of you responding to me - are conveniently ignoring the most important part of my original statement:
I was against minimap addons.
I used one out of curiosity when the developers brought it up again.
It is making my experience demonstrably more enjoyable because I now fully explore the map instead of sticking to linear paths that the awful compass design in the game promotes.
I do not care, at all, literally one bit - that you think this is exploiting or a violation of TOS. I care what Amazon thinks, and they have stated they will warn people 24 hours ahead of time before banning for it, so I will continue to use it until those warnings go out.
If you do not want to use a minimap addon, great, don’t use one.
If you’ve not tried one, and you refuse out of sheer stubbornness - then try to put other people down for using one - you’re a tool.
This argument is canonically over.
The Argument is dead!
Long live The Argument!
Maybe it’s like the compass in Pirates, it points you to the thing you most desire.
be honest with yourself. it bothers you and you cant ignore it because you want to use it but you are conflicted because you want to feel good about yourself for doing something with even less effort. (and yes the mini map requires more effort, a setup, looking and paying attention to it, and actually hunting for nodes). if AGS wanted this to be sooooo vanilla they would not have made a list of where all their nodes are and allow others to share it on websites. your like people that got mad when tv went from analog to digital because of the inconvenience of changing over.
No no no, see, it’s just your character’s own natural sense of direction sort of like a migratory bird - a subconscious connection to the north pole - tied to your absolute almanac-like eidetic memory of every plant and mineral growth and deposit in the land. Your keen sense of smell, like that of a dog, allows you to know exactly what kind of animal (sort of) or plant (sort of) or mineral (sort of) that it is before you even lay eyes on it. It’s not an actual compass, just like its not an actual map. Like the crafting UI, we aren’t standing there paging through some pamphlet of opportunity. It’s just a visual aid to convey that our character is an impossibly complex computer trapped in a machine, absolutely chock full of absolute knowledge.
These superhuman powers must be conveyed to our eyes in some way, for we do not posses the ability to remember and identify everything so fast and flawlessly - so we’re given a simple compass rose with rows of icons to contend with. UI windows instead of having the information blasted into and out of our feeble minds.
Now if only this God-creature that can sprint literally forever while carrying a thousand pounds of stone could figure out how to hold its breath for more than 20 seconds (and then lay there dying for 3 minutes) - now that would be really something.
Amazon already have a player that created a minimap addon, saw that on youtube.
Why amazon canot adopt his idea and implement it?
Better than installing overwolf for us, I want a better minimap but I dont trust overwolf.
Is discord also a cheat?
After all, it gives you advantages that you don’t have if you use VOIP that is in game.
Do you want to ban that too?
Come on…
Amazing how the devs view the game, it’s so totally different from my view on the game.
The minimap ‘could break immersion, may limit the drive for exploration, and there are technical limitations. We feel the compass fulfills the needs, fits the setting, promotes exploration, and supports combat.’
I went to 60 relatively fast, with a mix of townboard, quest, farming mats and grinding refining and crafting. There is no minimap, so I use a detailed map either on my phone or second screen, I explore my gathering circuits on youtube before I run them… I didn’t really bother to stop and read any of the quests, if the NPC would only display the actual task with the options to accept or decline, it would be totally fine with me. A bit like the townboard on an NPC.
I explore weapons, when I get any to 20 I switch, got all the dex weapons done so I respecced to str and doing that now, not sure yet if I’ll bother with magic.
Now, people grinding watermark, do you really think they care about immersion or exploration? I’d think it’s just about getting on their spots and circuits, and grind them as efficient as possible.
A minimap, while not needed strictly speaking, would just be a nice quality of life feature.
Also I already got bored enough to uninstall and take a break, reinstalled again so I go on grinding, and explore the reskins of the same 30something mobs from lvl 1 to 60+…
