So on my server, many repeat exploiters from the company owning nearly half the map, who have been reported with video evidence of using every exploit under the sun to sway the tides of every war for about 2 weeks running now are all still online, alive and well, duped items and currency and all. Honestly, I can’t blame them, I’m not going to join them, but there has been 0 confirmed punishments for abusing exploits to cheat their way to victory and riches so why would they stop.
I don’t expect AGS to ban every exploiter permanently (I don’t want only like 500 people left on each server LOL) but a banwave of PERMANENT bans to set an example and rattle the exploiters seems like a good idea. Show them that there are repercussions for cheating and that repeat offenders will not be tolerated. Stand up for your players and 80% of the exploiters will stop abusing the exploits for fear of losing their progress. I mean, it’s not going to stop all of them, but it’s going to drastically improve the quality of life for competitive players who are playing fairly and curb the attractiveness of the “if you can’t beat em, join em” state of mind.
Today I was excited to try output rush for the first time. The last few days Ive been farming resources to up my crafting and generally enjoying the game. I finally managed to get into outpost rush. Turned out there were at least 3 visible hachet exploiters on the other team (not sure on mine). Eventually some people afked as they were tired of facing exploiters. We of course lost.
Once over, I brought it up in global chat. And was laughed at. Exploits are at the stage now that people laugh at you if you complaim about them or call others out fir using them. ‘Everybody does it, blame the game not the player, amazon aint gonna do nothing’ is where its at now.
I ended up just staring at the join output rush button and thought to myself, why bother. Why bother leveling crafting so I can make my own armor to try out builds. Why bother trying to get more skillful. Why bother with anything when it seems there is no consequence for people when they use expolits. So I just logged out. And to be honest, Im not sure when and if Ill log back in.
I can’t agree more and it sucks. I want to play New World but untill that mindset of “everyone’s doing it” isn’t the majority, I’m back to my last MMO despite wanting to progress in New World way more.
Also notice how ArenaNet (a company who definitely did not swim in money like Amazon does) actually suspended selling the game while their servers were so packed full that people couldnt play? That’s incredibly commendable and such a customer-friendly course of action.
Too late, some servers droped in 2 weeks from 2k players to 400. It’s already happening due to big companies abusing exploits. I mean, some company abused the ice gauntlet exploit to create lag and even admit it that they’re doing it to stay competitive. Then proceed to use the invulnerability exploit to capture more territories and laughing in global chat how players should just challenge them if they want them back. Server: Penglai-EU Central
We’re more than two weeks into rampant cheating and exploitation and even more cheats and exploits are coming out.
Bans are not enough. PROOF that bans happened is mandatory.
And legitimate players deserve compensation.
I’d say perma-ban repeat offenders once people are aware that people are getting banned for it, and have a strike system for exploiters. Hackers can get banned first time, hands down, but abusing an exploit doesn’t seem like something a first time offender should be permanently banned for.
EDIT - This would be a preferred process after the initial perma-ban wave that would be used for shock and awe to scare most exploiters away from their exploiting ways.
Most games have a system where repeat offenders get perma-bans and first time offenders get temp bans. I don’t think I’ve ever played a game that actually perma-bans instantly, no questions asked for exploits. Hacks, yes, but not exploits.
Besides most people who would get perma-banned without warning would appeal and make some garbage up about how they didn’t even know or how they thought it was just part of the game, they’ll play dumb and AGS would have to play along. Amazon is a huge company, I know AGS is it’s own deal, but there’s no way they’ll respond to appeals with an iron fist telling people to stop playing dumb. I feel like they’d give accounts back with a no strike system for “something thats in the game”.
