As many people expected, a game title announced and backed by Amazon itself had a very promising future ahead of it. At launch many players swarmed to the game of New World. Unfortunately, as a handful of players have discovered the banning/moderation system has pre-emptively banned a great number of innocent players such as myself.
Joking is absolutely forbidden in the game. What I mean by that is, joking about anything that may violate the extremely vague CoC will get you banned no matter if you actually violate the CoC itself or not. As a player myself, not a single cuss word or toxic message has ever been sent from my account, no exploit abused, no game function abused, nothing at all, just a poor humor
joke and that’s all it takes for 500+ hours of gameplay to go to waste.
AGS will claim time and time again that the report system does not assign automatic bans. However, time and time again this seems to have been disproven by the player base regardless of their claim that humans personally investigate and personally administer the ban themselves.
In my experience, I made a bad “gold-selling” joke and was given a permanent ban as any gold-selling player should receive, but after explaining it was a joke it was reversed and I returned to life as normal. The joke in itself was “WTS gold for 3.9 USD use code NYC for 10% off” no link or communication was performed afterwards. Now I can understand this being an automatic flag but with the context of many players joking and complaining about it in chat it can easily with very little investigation be seen as satire and nothing more.
Regardless, I was unbanned after for days until another incident occurred.
I partook in an invasion right after I was unbanned and there were known griefers in invasion, I of course used my power over the invasion as a lieutenant to remove these players to preserve mine and other players experiences. These players would stand in front of the siege engine part generator to collect repair parts with no intent of using these parts, only to simply gate-keep other players from using them so that turrets/gates cannot be repaired. To my surprise, these players ended up mass-reporting me and even ignorantly decided to announce that they had done so in global chat.
After I had supplemental evidence to prove my innocence I had reached out to AGS support with such and in return, I received extremely poor customer service with what seems to be copy pasted replies every time. Even was assured that there was a thorough and fair investigation that led to my ban standing.

*AGS should provide the reason that the player was banned for so that player can properly defend themselves from accusations
*The question is no longer “what is automated?” it is now “what isn’t automated?”
