Been gone for a few months, is it worth returning to New World?

The forums are a jumbled mess of complaints… GULP
Can someone share an update on the current SOTG?

Was trying to figure out if it would be worth returning to the game… How’s the build variety? Is it still fubar?

What’s a few months tho? If you haven’t seen Brimstone yet it’s definetly worth it!

Now is not the time to return. There are upcoming balance changes to many weapons, light armor, perks etc., so until those are implemented, I would suggest continuing your hiatus from the game. Hopefully by Spring we will have a better SOTG and at such time it will be better for you to return.

If you haven’t seen Brimstones. Go on the fullest server there is and just play it. Do the new dungeon once or twice and move on. They’re not really supporting the game anymore and it’s def not worth to stick around. But the whole “expansion” was pretty nice at least to look at and play through.
But still, the game is pretty dead so you might run through an npc wasteland there.
I do belive it’s definitely worth checking out tho, and it’s f2p after you bought the game so why not^^

3k+h if you casual whu font care to much about game and just wana have fun so yes

Is it though? Is it reaaaaally?

You get to do some very basic quests, nothing special. Then there is the running in a big sheep flock opening chests.

And then u can see the giant sandworm in one static location once every hour or so.

Is it reaaaaaally worth it?

New World is a great game.

Sadly AGS abandoned it to go do other stuff.

Content is stale and the game is going downhill because of it.

The Lvl 60 PvE & PvP Wall is still there in my opinion. It’s seems to be the same, just got new fresh paint. that’s all

Since you already own the game just jump back in and check it out. You’ve got nothing to lose but some time if you don’t like it then at least you tried and came to your own conclusion.

Somewhat

Things are a bit of a mess atm. Kind of a giant waiting game, to see if AGS puts in the effort, to make solid balance changes.

Would say the game will be an amazing state…by the end of the year.

When cross server stuff is implemented, and if the rumors of a paid expansion is true.

You should come back and see for yourself and not listen to the nattering nabobs of negativism on the forums.

I am new to the game, going on almost two months of gameplay and I have dedicated a lot of time to it.

The PvP and PvE content is stale, I have seen 5 exploits arise and fail to be fixed in a timely manner, and merges keep happening making me think the game is dying.

Realistically if I knew all of this before getting myself and friends involved I would have avoided the game, but now I sit here hoping AGS actually does something worthwhile in one of their patches. The roadmap is nice but it’s one full year for a decent amount of content that I doubt will even release on time

They seem to have a major disconnect with the community, forum responses are copy paste template answers, overall morale is low. Many players in my current company are bored after now maxing out 2-3 PvP sets, rolling gear is too expensive to aim for full BiS without owning top territories.

If I were to rate the current state in terms of the quality of the game as an MMORPG it would be 5 or 6 out of 10, but it has the potential to be good in the future.

I myself am a returning player and came bk last week…here’s my outlook from a solo player pov…mat gathering is still fubar’d, crafting is still a joke and bugged both, TP is bugged MAJORLY (If you search and list something to sell, it bugs out if you keep searching and everything’s “80 gold”, I have to exit out, go into another screen entirely THEN I can look back at the TP and it fixes itself)…now, I haven’t tried playing any instruments yet so not sure if they are bugged or not honestly. Heard pvp is still a joke, anyone with light armor is a glutton for pain from any ranged player (musket and bow I see a lot of complaints about in regards to pvp and those in light armor)
So take from my experience in game what you will but so far this is what I have noticed. I don’t see much difference from when I left the day they brought instruments to the game

You can but this game won’t keep you longer than 2 months until next break.

The current SOTG is not that bad as long as you avoid the PvP scene in New World. PvE could be made more interesting but that’s another topic. Weapon balance is pretty much non-existent.

With the new incoming balance changes. It looks like it’s going to be play a Strength bruiser build or get farmed. Actually, other builds will still be competitive only if you cheat. Cheating in PvP is widespread, to the point it is now the norm. If you are trying to PvP in New World and you are not cheating, then you are not trying to win.

PvE in New World is still just a simple gear check, with minimal entertainment value compared to other Themepark MMOs. PvP is still mostly unrewarding. A lot of balance decisions for PvE is based off of PvP. So PvE combat mechanics suffers even more because of that.

Everything in the game except for character customization, PvP, and PvE is pretty good. You can immerse yourself in the trade skill long as you ignore the progression time. Music instruments are pretty decent. The sound effects in New World are pretty good.

All and all, it’s up to you to decide if it’s worth trying New World again. I personally still manage to spend 3 to 5 hours of a 30-day period playing New World. I personally would not make New World my main MMO, since I currently main BDO and plays GW2 and FFXIV on the side. But if New World is the only MMO you’ve ever played or owned, you’ll be sure to get some entertainment out of it.

This is well said man. And the new guy before also phrased it well.
NW is a fine game for a bit. But it’s hard to recommend since the difference with other mmo’s is they actually DO have thousand of hours of content and a “promise” that they’re constantly evolving and getting taken care of. NW was dropped pretty much a week after release.
It’s fine to recommend it as solo RPG with mmo elements. But as an “mmo” with a chance of longevity, just no lol

The only good reason to play NW was if u have some friends to play with…this game really fun to play with friends, but sucks if u plays solo unless u are some gold seller that only do farming all day

The state of the game is pretty terrible at the moment to be completely honest. Definitely not the time to come back if you ask me. The only thing the devs are 100% consistent with is dropping the ball on a weekly basis.

Haters can only hate.
