What I do not like about this whole idea at first, is the fact that this change was not communicated and in my opinion strongly affects late gameplay, crafting, obtaining items etc and therefore it is something that should have been brought up beforehand and communicated with community and ask our opinion, before “going out” with it unnoticed.
Why I think the 590-600 named items upgrade (to a legendary) is bad? First of all it completely removes any excitement of getting those items, since getting one named drop 590+ happens every third run or so, even multiple named items in the same run. Second of all it makes “legendary” - status that I think should remain something rare and special, a new norm that everyone will have super easy access to (considering drop chances for those named items in dungeons are increasing, on top of that with ability to increase 590+ items to legendary is an absolute overkill, making those items being something every player will have access to within 1-2 week farming period) , meaning crafting - weaponsmithing, jewelcrafting, engineering, arcana of high tier legendaries will be basically done for, only items interested to someone will be absolute best of the best items with 3/3 best perks in each slot crafted, those items will be somewhat competitive with the ones dropped in lazarus and genesis - laza bow for example, Why should someone spend any money on crafted bow with keen vicious and any other third perk, when they can easily farm laza for a while and get BIS bow for fraction of a cost of crafted one? Why would someone spend money on life staff of any kind since there is will of the ancients? Personally I play bruiser, and I will not even care getting better axe than weaponmasters chosen, even tho it has a perk I will not use, for me it will just be “good enough”. Third of all, it will completely negate any difference in players equipments (wep and jewels) since most of us will run the same equipment that will be easily obtained from dungeons, “legendary” will become new standard, a new norm, you could basically just start giving them away just as a reward in a box for finishing lvl 60, that is how common those items will become.
The argument of “but it takes time to lvl up to 60, it takes time to get to expertise 590, it takes xxx number of runs in lazarus to get something legendary” are all in my opinion absolutely invalid, since we are talking about Bes In Slot items, they SHOULD be rare and SHOULDNT be something that every player has access to. If anyone is not feeling like running dungeon 100x to get lucky and get their drop in best configuration, dont do so, ask a crafter to get you similar item, or buy it off of trade post.
