I don’t quite understand why some crafted items are BoP. Let’s start with legendaries, 600 GS, guaranteed. For example, The above shield is BoP. It’s a very good shield that you can guaranteed craft. The materials aren’t the hardest either. This was one of the few weapons you could already craft before they added in the other legendary item drops, since the Crest of Fortitude was dropping. The requirement is you yourself, because it is BoP, level up weaponsmithing to 200. Which just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s an MMO, and it heavily encourages focusing into professions with trophies and the craft system itself. So why would people not be able to craft these items to sell? For some of them, you have to get a recipe, and the other two legendary item components too. Which, in my server, isn’t a huge issue because the schematics drop so often. One of the legendary mats are usually cheap, since they’ve been dropping a good bit, but nothing to use them on. Until they added the others.
Now let’s move on from legendaries and “guaranteed” crafts. Well, partially.
Let’s look at the “Guardian Plate” set and “Dryad Guard” set. These are NOT, guaranteed perks, or 600 GS. However, they do guarantee the attribute Constitution. The one downside to these, again, is that you need armoring to be min 160 to even craft them for yourself, because they are BoP. They do also require materials from dungeons, like “Spectral Dust” and “Sticky Vines” which CAN be traded, but not posted on the Trading Post. Other than that, you can get a maxed out Armorer with 595-600 range and use your asmodeum, runic leather, and phoenixweave to craft some sick armor. But you still have to find someone with the town buff, with full armorer gear, 200 armoring, 3 major armoring trophies, and a house in the town that has the active armorer buff to do 595-600. They’re not gonna craft you stuff for free.
Then there comes into questions some of the other items that can be crafted, guaranteed, and are not BoP. Such as Pixie’s Punisher, 590 GS, Honorbound Rapier, 590 GS, and the new 600 GS Void Gauntlet “Nothingness”. Yes. This new Void Gauntlet is BoE.
So, something is out of line. I’m not saying or demanding a certain change, (although I would really like to be able to make some cool weapons without having to level up that trade skill) I’m asking why the inconsistency, or clarification as to why these items are BoP. It doesn’'t make sense to me when voidbent armor is BoE.
What do you guys think should happen? Should things stay BoP that are guaranteed? Or should guaranteeds change to BoE? If you think things should stay BoP, do you think it’s fair to make things like voidbent BoP? If you think guaranteed crafts should be BoE, do you think it’s fair to make those BoE? And finally, my personal opinion, is that they should make the crafted items BoE. However, they should also reduce the drop rate of the legendary items. I think that is only fair. And although it does not deal with the surplus of legendary items that people already have from before, it does help in the future.
TLDR: Certain crafted items are BoP and require you to have 160-200 in that skill to craft them, and then only for yourself. Other crafted items are BoE… voidbent armor, the new void gauntlet “Nothingness”, etc. Why is there inconsistency with this and how should it be resolved? I think they should be BoE and AGS should decrease the special mats’ drop rates.
