I 100 percent agree. Just make it to where using skills effectively requires you to have a certain amount of points in the weapons stats.
Mage weapons are way OP anyways. I support the nerf.
Are you serious? Named mage weapons for the most part aren’t that powerful, especially compared to what melee has.

Ah, lol. If anything needs a nerf, its melee, particularly ice shower and grav well combo. Weapon abilities should really scale in power based on how much the player has in the stat of that weapon. Would fix alot of issues.
But back to the topic: I really hope the devs retcon this change, or at least select something that makes this weapon unique while retaining its usefulness.

Just a reminder for devs and everybody, most of the community does not want the blackguard weapons changed, or at least changed to refreshing evasion. Plagued crits would be ok. I know we’ve all been distracted by rabbits and various other bugs, but lets not forget to keep this at the top things we don’t want. Keep these threads bumped.
This man has never played OPR/war. Mages are by far the most in demand builds in the game. CC mages are always a dire need in wars and hugely impactful in OPR. Damage mages are absolutely vicious and probably the best solo killers in the game right now.
I am totally fine with a class of weapons neutering healing in this game but to suggest that mages are ignored or undertuned is just silly…
Ignored? 100%. Especially if you look at named drops from dungeons and compare them to bruiser drops.
Undertuned? No. VG/IG is must-have in any war. Fire deals great damage(definitely not solo killers however), but bruisers can deal almost as much dmg and make more impact with their Grav Wells and chain-stuns.
Uhm what, Fire Staff damage, if you hit on your abilities is probably best damage in the game right now, there’s a reason why great mages out pace great muskets in wars. I’d agree that the abilities are tough to hit with at times in certain fights–but you do not want to get caught out against a good fire staff user right now–they’ll chunk you to death. Most of my deaths in clumps come from alpha damage from fire staff.
3-piece freedom essentially neuters medium 300/200 hammers stuns. 3-piece freedom gets in trouble though against heavy 200/300 hammers though.
Let’s be quite clear, most of the drops in this game suck. Especially armor. The only attribute that I think actually gets some half way decent gear is dex players–but bow is in such a terrible place it doesn’t matter.

Firevine comes from gen
Will of the Ancients comes from Laz
BIS bow/musket are drops
Woodswarden is good for clump busting, but otherwise bis hammer didn’t drop until Tempest, same with Hatchet
BIS great axe still doesn’t exist outside of crafting

Fire staff is AOE BOT gameplay, not solo killer.
Taiyings is 2 perk weapon, same with Firevine. Fury and Woodswarden - both almost BiS hammers, now there’s new BiS like you say from Tempest. Rings, earings, Vision of viciousness is extremely good GA.
So why mages get almost exact copies of existent 2 perk weapon drops?

Completely the opposite. Named fire staffs has the worst perk combinations in compared with the other named weapons. Firevine battle staff is called bis but its 3/2. There is no bis named 3/3 firestaff for pvp. Every other weapon type has, especially the melee weapons

I know no one will give a crap over at Amazon but chalk up one more disenfranchised player who is putting this game down because I am not willing to be a game tester in what is suppose to be a full game.
These weapons are the very first pieces of dropped loot I have been interested in as an intelligence user. I like many others put in many hours farming them and many hours grinding shards to level them up. Now they get to sit in my bank.
Melee, Dex, Healers all have clear dungeon best or near best in slots. Mages HAD these.
Does no one at AGS play an int based character in PVP?
EDIT: the bow and blunderbuss got plagued crits still on their blackguard pieces, so i guess i know what range weapons they play over there.
Yeah we left all this feedback about what viable and reasonable alternatives could be and as a community we agreed that refreshing evasion was not the way to go… Guess what they ignored that feedback.

i main fire staff/ice gauntlet. as much as i wanted the plagued strikes to stay on the fire staff/ice gauntlet. that shits gotta go. literally broken perk for weapons you can spam heavy attacks into people with. most of the nerfs they do i think are ridiculous/there are other ways to balance shit. but this is actually needed lol
