Blunderbus gonna replace ice spikes?

Good players should never win… I leaned crying about ppl who beat me at a game so they get their weapons nerfed is way easier than getting good myself.

I never said that imbalance doesn’t matter, that’s a straw man. You can never achieve perfect balance without a mirror match. I said the weapons are close enough to balanced that it is fair and skill matters. I also said the ability to carry two weapons heavily balances the game. The rest of the stuff you just made up.

You guys are calling for nerfs on a weapon out less than 24 hours on a PTR without even testing it with proper gear. Maybe it comes out that it’s a little OP, that might be the case. But the idea that any of you are in any position to make recommendation on this thing at this point is laughable. Most of you probably haven’t even played the PTR and are judging off a 10 second clip.

You also don’t consider what a weapon has left if you nerf. This weapon has 2 shots, 3 with a perk if you wait long enough, that must be used close up to get decent damage, and then must reload which is cancelled by dodging. You want to lower the damage of these shots, to what? To the point a melee weapon just out trades it when it gets close?

My point here is most people in this thread just see a video and instantly call for nerfs.

Even if it were true on live taking it as the default position for the first publicly available iteration of a new weapon is the shittest of shit takes. And whether it’s even true on live entirely depends on what you consider to fall under the umbrella of “skill”.

Why do people keep calling 3-4 keystroke combos as “one-shots”???

Can you point me where I said my default position for any new weapon added to the PTR is that it is balanced? I’m guessing you didn’t read the last post fully.

You seem to be very good at making up some argument you think I am making in your head and then debating that instead of engaging what I actually say.

So then what is your actual argument? Please, enlighten me.

I agree they are not one shot abilities, but once you stun them they die. There is nothing they can do. It is not fun to play against. With the BB, we are just going to run around trying to stun each other and whoever lands their stun wins. I tried blocking a BB combo with the shield and I still died. It’s going to be ridiculous.

“one shot C O M B O” as in one combo = 100% to 0% HP

I think that’s combining two different ideas, is all. But setting semantics aside…

I think combos are GOOD. But we need combo breakers. That’s the problem. Combat is SO shallow in NW that when one exists, it feels OP (and I guess it is). It could be as simple as having a “trinket” on a longer CD that breaks stun. Or you can put stun breakers on abilities like GW2 (which would also be nice because then you wouldn’t just pick 3 damage abilities and blow your load, or if you did there was more risk involved in building like that).

However, TTK is also super high right now (to the point where most small scale fights would always end in stale mate). So … not sure. I’d buff other weapons up to BB and then give more counters to CC.

For example, blocking should have it’s own bar, separate from stamina. That’s a nice mechanic that no one uses because dodging is almost always better. With the Ice Spike combo-wombo, you could block it and since that is LITERALLY the only damage ability in the kit, it wasn’t as oppressive as people think – just no one ever blocks. With the current GA wombo-combo and well, I can block it just fine but then I am out of stamina with a great axe player in my face. So it was a stay of execution, not a counter-play. Which is why I think the GA combo is far more busted than IG was.

It’s not “made” to be paired with anything. Each weapon is it’s own class that can synergize well with others because of its skills.

The attribute scaling for this weapon makes zero sense. Everything about it screams dex but the devs felt the need to give strength a ranged option so giving the a dex weapon that scales with strength was easier than fixing throwing (hatchets.)

Not asking as a jerk, but how does it “scream dex”??? I played around with it and it doesn’t really scream any attribute pairing, tbh.

Dexterity bonuses:

Threshold Bonuses

  • 50: +5% chance to critical hit, +10 skinning speed
  • 100: +5% thrust damage, +20% haste for 3 seconds after skinning
  • 150: Dodging cost 10 less stamina, -10% decrease in weight of skinned items
  • 200: +10% bonus backstab and headshot damage, +10% skinning speed
  • 250: +10% bonus critical hit damage on stunned, slowed, or rooted enemies, +10% yield increase when skinning
  • 300: Ammo has +15% chance of being returned, guaranteed critical hit after a dodge roll

I think you’re confusing attributes screaming ranged weapons. Not a weapon screaming a certain attribute.

Blunderbuss will replace everything until they bring other weapons up to its awesomeness. Even then it will replace most because its that awesome! Don’t even slot another weapon. Just keep firing! When you are tired of firing then fire some more!

If I understand you correctly, then they are one and the same.
It scaling with strength feels like an after thought and not how it was originally intended.
They should honestly just rework the Hatchet’s throwing path if they want to give strength a ranged option. -they won’t. But they should.

Putting all that aside, most of the weapons are stand alone.
I can see it paired with the OPed GA or VG/IG (for root)

I think we’ll see a ton of GA/BB at the start but most GA users will go back to hammer.

show me a recent video of someone in heavy armor with 200 con getting oneshoted by a bow. Theres a video of a blunderbuss oneshoting a 200 con heavy user. Yes its a problem and need to get nerfed to the ground before release.

good luck surviving mid-range with 50 con. These videos are dumb because there’s no resil. In any group fight while being 50 con next to everyone whos a GA/WH spamming gravs…is going to get ripped up.

They are also low level BBs with bad perks, so who knows what’s going to happen with a 625 BiS blunderbuss versus +600 Gs 5/5 resilient.

thats even funnier when you realize that he couldve gotten 15% more damage if he wasnt at full stamina.
