Bots are becoming a problem already in a big way

WRONG! You don’t have the remotest clue what you’re talking aobut. Sheesh. I have NEVER seen a game that attracts more crying children than this one!

No all you supplied was a picture and said you reported them. I’m not gonna argue I just wanted to make sure you aren’t just in your feelings and reporting ppl who are fishing in a hospot.

This is a thread about bots, including a screenshot about people providing fishing bots. Why would I report people just for fishing?

A video would be better than a screenshot. It will show the actual action where the screenshot would just look like normal gameplay.

A screenshot looks like just normal gameplay which is why I replied the way I did. Recording the action will supply better proof specially if you are seeing what you saw.

I agree, but not most vid capture in a game accepted by support were console type games like Destiny 2. It would be nice tho.

Some one made a great post about this I thought would give some perspective: Anti-Farmer / Bot Account Mitigation

I have seen harvesting bots since Beta. I recommended to Amazon during Alpha, to randomize node locations to help prevent bots.

Harvesting bots are easy to tell - they run in straight lines to a node, stop, then move to next one. Easy to video capture - just follow them and harvest a node right beside them. Normally player will move on but bots will try to harvest the node you just did. See them mostly on fiber and iron.

Amazon has had lots of opportunity to fix this but I don’t think they can at this point. Nodes have not changed since Alpha and thus changes maybe code restrictive now.

@Bloodkraft I posted about this in Beta as well. Know 2 guys that professionally make cheats for a living, both make about 350K/year doing this, they mainly make stuff for Rust, Tarkov, etc., but during Beta started making them in prep for launch.

Long story short, they had fishing & mining bots working during Beta, with ESP kind of sort of working. When I posted during Beta, all the “know it all” posters said it wasn’t a big deal, I had no idea what I was talking about, and cheats were easy to detect and banning and catching them is easy (just ask Rust & Tarkov how thats going, LOL)

I am on Valhalla, and there are bots everywhere, see them all over the place, mainly at nodes, saw one that never moved for 8 hours yesterday, but yet the node just kept getting mined.

For me its funny as hell, this game is great, have enjoyed it, but its built so sloppy on open source software, with so many glitchy items, and people who don’t understand how the cheats/bots actually work crying is even funnier. The horses have already left the barn, no way to put them back in now, so just get used to the cheats/bots they aren’t going away, the code is already baked in.

350k a year?! bruh I am in the wrong business xD Can’t they implement better security at least? I mean I get that they can’t change code but can’t they add layers of protection or detection? I don’t really care since I play this for fun and I don’t feel impacted (prob since i’m on a small server and not much time to play) Mostly asking for everyone here and my friends that have time to play.

A lot of the price fluctuations are going to be because the game is so new. I’m well aware of that. And sure, you could say I’ve exaggerated how much the bots have affected the economy so far, but it’s still a measurable difference and disregarding that this is a problem is irresponsible and will negatively impact your experience in this game. The only way to help the issue is to speak out, report it when you see it and gather proof of it happening. I’m blown away by the amount of physical proof that’s been given on this post already. Spotting bots is pretty easy. For those who don’t seem to understand how to do that please read through the previous comments as it’s been stated plenty of times already. I just hope a solution is on the way. I don’t want to see another MMO that I like destroyed by gold selling websites and bots. If you value your time and want your labor on this game to be of any value then I encourage you to keep posting proof of the existence of bots.

I get what you are saying but at the core of it, its a game not a job we shouldn’t be taking it to heart and stressing out so early. I know these are bad I’m just saying that stuff for everyone’s mental. Like one guy is so pissed on this forum he post a pick with no info saying he reported them like it poorly represented and he lashed at me for verifying. Amazon is a huge company and have been listening to us so I am sure with proper reports we can get it fixed. No game will ever be cheat free. I play for fun and get some of you take it to heart when you grind for hours just for someone to have their pc do what you are doing.

We should use this post to develop clear reporting guildlines from us to assist so it’s great you made this post.

The guy you mentioned provided plenty of reason to report those people. They were 100% bots. Look at the players names. They’re pretty much the same. Not only that but they were constantly snapping their rods. This is how the bots work. You see them doing that constantly because they detect which fish is on the line before it’s reeled in so the let go of the trash and only go after rares. Those people SHOULD be reported. It’s very noticeable. No game will ever be cheat free, especially an MMO. The point of this forum is to raise awareness around the issue and make Amazon notice how big of an issue it is. I do play games for fun but when I sit down for 4-5 hours I want my labor to be worth something. I know there’s always going to be people who play a lot more that will diminish the value of that labor, but they don’t make near a big of a dent as a bot will. Having fun with the game is directly related to your time put in being worth something and paying off in some way.

The post I replied to had nothing but the screenshot that isn’t a proper way to report something is what I am getting at. Our reports need to more detailed than here is a pic. Regardless if a previous post has info his screenshot was another case with nothing actually provided. Each report needs to be better detailed and a screenshot isn’t proper proof you need a video. You saying a screenshot with players with the same name is enough? All that shows is a group of ppl with similar names fishing. And leashing out at someone for wanting him to be more clear with it isn’t the proper way to handle it. I want it to be taken care of to but I also want us to do the best way possible with the most info and proof.

I see all these people talking about bots, but I just wonder how many of them are actually legit. This game doesn’t have a lock on feature, you have to aim at items to interact with them. lots of nodes and whatnot are in places you have to jump and climb for. I just don’t see how anything short of a full AI system could handle that. If they are just the old school Chinese farmers, which used to dominate most games. They are real people that paid for the game, and if they choose to farm all day, that is their choice. That doesn’t violate any TOS. The main thing here is, they cannot farm and sell to NPC’s and generate new currency. You can fish and farm all over the world, they can’t cover it all. You can learn to craft pretty easy. I just do not see them as any sort of threat to anyone, but people that are not willing to farm, and just want to buy items.

Oh yeah and don’t trust that cheater forum, most of those people are scammers, looking for noobs to take advantage of.

I’m not trying to be rude, and the way he responded to you was rather sarcastic, but here’s the thing: Yes his original post lacked detail, however when he responded he said the following

“Some of these bots even have the same name. They weren’t legitimately fishing. They were constantly spamming cast and cancelling. All of them. 8 different accounts, all casting at the exact same time, and cancelling, and casting again.”

This is what I’m trying to explain to you. This was the proof that justified it. It seems like you’re glazing over this detail in my responses.

I can say without a doubt what I’ve experienced isn’t just a Chinese player with a ton of time on their hands. What I’m seeing is obvious bots with very systematic and weird movements that wouldn’t come from a normal player. We notice them in large groups, usually with similar names all standing in the same spot. That’s either a very strange group effort, or it’s obvious botting.

No I understand where you are coming from but what I am saying which you still didn’t get is that each report should be detailed not oh well I posted 20 mins what these bots are doing then 20 mins later I reported all these ppl here’s a screenshot. I am saying each time we report and show proof we should attach the proof with details. Seems you are the one glazing over

Maybe I am if that was your meaning. I guess I felt like you weren’t understanding why he reported them. Yeah, more details would be nice so others can know what to look for.

It’s all good I just want us to do it right instead of us just looking like we are crying and being immature with our reporting. Even if its a copy paste we can make and then we attach the proof. Just looks better and looks like we are serious. I apologize if I wasn’t clear enough either I am currently at work so I’m not as focused on this as you prob need me to be.
