No you’re right, I made a mistake and thought I was using poison shot for both tests but I used quick shot then poison shot. I’ve already edited my post. Quick shot pulls you out of aim after the shot, poison shot doesn’t (that’s how it has been).
Now if we are talking about something like Poison Shot, then we have another problem. Which is if I’m aiming, I need to release aim to go to poison shot, then take aim, then fire, then immediately right click to continue aiming. This is a ridiculous way to play lol. I’d say this is completely contradictory to the change log’s claim of:
Improved all Aim Down Sights transitions between abilities and primary shot
Mhhh, I can still do that. I aim (press and keep pressed RMB), then I press Q for PenShot and I release immediately RMB. I don’t get out of ADS and I can now shoot PenShot. If I want to cancel it I can tap RMB to cancel it and get out of ADS or I can tap and keep pressed RMB to cancel it and to stay in ADS.
What you would want, if I understand correctly, is to be able to activate the ability while keeping RMB pressed. At first thought I woyuld agree, but on second thought to cancel that ability you should then release RMB and than would put you out of ADS. Instead the way it is now I can cancel while maintaining ADS so that I can shoot normal attacks. I hope I explained myself here…
Yes, this happened all the time to me and sadly is still happening.
Also agree on this and I know why. The ability can be charged/activated only after the bow is full drawn, so it takes like 1 second. If after a roll you want to use PenShot then it’s absolutely best to use it right away without going into ADS first.
No you don’t need to do that. It works without exiting ADS, I’m doing it right now on live
Do this: aim (RMB pressed) - press PoisonShot and immediately release RMB - shoot and press immediately RMB again. See? You never got out of ADS. Try it out and let me know
You may have miss-understood, that is exactly what I was saying, that is a terrible experience, I shouldn’t be managing my right click to aim and use abilities. Thus why virtually every response to this thread is wanting it fixed.
I get you can technically still use the bow in the current state, but for myself, and obviously many other players, we believe it is broken and a poor experience. I in fact stopped playing PVE and other battle situations all together because it is so broken and such an awful experience.
I don’t get what you’re trying to convince me of here? I’m saying something I’m sure we all can agree on, let me use an ability while holding down the right click to aim, just like before. That’s it, why on earth someone would want to manage their right click to aim is beyond me.
My bad, I thought when you were saying you had to release aim you meant out of ADS.
Don’t worry, I’m not trying to convince anyone, in fact I’m the guy who made the other thread about this change/bug(if it’s a bug).
I am just trying to understand what might be the best solution for it, because let’s say the ability doesn’t get cancelled and you can keep the RMB pressed, what if I want to cancel it and still stay in ADS? With the current method I can do that. What’s the alternative you would prefer? How would you cancel the ability in case you don’t want to shoot it? Just by releasing the aim I suppose, but in that case you would be put out of ADS. I kinda like that I can switch the arrow from ability to normal just by managing RMB but maybe it’s a useless option to have and what you whish is better. I’m just trying to figure out this really.
I get you. Sorry, I’m frustrated with the change, not with you
I was happy with right click tap to cancel, however there are many other ways to overcome this issue I think without impacting the standard playing experience. Perhaps tapping the ability key again to cancel, denoted by the same animation they do now (re-string bow). In fact that is so intuitive, that is how I tried to do it in the beginning heh. I get some people are frantic and want to smash the key over and over, but having a threshold between taps can help with that too.
Also pretty much every single time I want to cancel the ability, I’m not planning on shooting a regular shot, at most I want to use a different ability (which was already supported to swap between). Other wise I just want to cancel any shot altogether. Partly why I was happy with tap to cancel, because I was just not going to shoot anyway
This is not a bug, but an intended change. As many have said, it mess up our bow attack routine, but maybe that was their initial goal. Still possible to adapt after a while, so not a big problem.
It’s a huge problem. I admit I’m a bit clumsy and sometimes it does impact my keyboard use.
But this is ridiculously difficult for me.
I’m really hoping to god they change this back. It’s made bow a terrible experience. I miss my bow and I don’t understand how this improves things. It’s really not clear why they made this change.
Are we becoming some kind of guinea pig for Lost Ark?
if this was intended then those guys most be on some really hard stuff in that office.
this change made the bow even worse than 1.1, it completely the destroy any fluid action the bow had left now its just a hot mess restricted weapon, you cant chain abilities with Basic attacks like every other weapon in the game and now you cant even use abilities while ADS.
only waiting for the update where you cant jump while shooting and the bow would officially be dead.
I don’t like the new system (I made this thread) though you can still use abilities while ADS, you just have to release the aim. Check my edit in the 1st post. Again, I don’t like it, but until they chage it back, that’s what you have to do.
On ADS (RMB hold) allow ability keys to select abilities (while also allow holding RMB without aborting). Use ability with LMB or abort with retapping and holding RMB which switches back to ADS (this may be harder to implement)
Same as above but a second tap on the ability key aborts it
I’d surely prefer the first option (which is like it is now but without the “auto-cancel” thing). I’m not a fan of having to use the ability key to cancel it.
This, as well as unable to move in OPR every times I try to shoot with bow, my character stood completely still. There are so many bow bugs this patch.
