My bad, I thought when you were saying you had to release aim you meant out of ADS.
Donāt worry, Iām not trying to convince anyone, in fact Iām the guy who made the other thread about this change/bug(if itās a bug).
I am just trying to understand what might be the best solution for it, because letās say the ability doesnāt get cancelled and you can keep the RMB pressed, what if I want to cancel it and still stay in ADS? With the current method I can do that. Whatās the alternative you would prefer? How would you cancel the ability in case you donāt want to shoot it? Just by releasing the aim I suppose, but in that case you would be put out of ADS. I kinda like that I can switch the arrow from ability to normal just by managing RMB but maybe itās a useless option to have and what you whish is better. Iām just trying to figure out this really.
I get you. Sorry, Iām frustrated with the change, not with you
I was happy with right click tap to cancel, however there are many other ways to overcome this issue I think without impacting the standard playing experience. Perhaps tapping the ability key again to cancel, denoted by the same animation they do now (re-string bow). In fact that is so intuitive, that is how I tried to do it in the beginning heh. I get some people are frantic and want to smash the key over and over, but having a threshold between taps can help with that too.
Also pretty much every single time I want to cancel the ability, Iām not planning on shooting a regular shot, at most I want to use a different ability (which was already supported to swap between). Other wise I just want to cancel any shot altogether. Partly why I was happy with tap to cancel, because I was just not going to shoot anyway
This is not a bug, but an intended change. As many have said, it mess up our bow attack routine, but maybe that was their initial goal. Still possible to adapt after a while, so not a big problem.
Itās a huge problem. I admit Iām a bit clumsy and sometimes it does impact my keyboard use.
But this is ridiculously difficult for me.
Iām really hoping to god they change this back. Itās made bow a terrible experience. I miss my bow and I donāt understand how this improves things. Itās really not clear why they made this change.
Are we becoming some kind of guinea pig for Lost Ark?
if this was intended then those guys most be on some really hard stuff in that office.
this change made the bow even worse than 1.1, it completely the destroy any fluid action the bow had left now its just a hot mess restricted weapon, you cant chain abilities with Basic attacks like every other weapon in the game and now you cant even use abilities while ADS.
only waiting for the update where you cant jump while shooting and the bow would officially be dead.
I donāt like the new system (I made this thread) though you can still use abilities while ADS, you just have to release the aim. Check my edit in the 1st post. Again, I donāt like it, but until they chage it back, thatās what you have to do.
On ADS (RMB hold) allow ability keys to select abilities (while also allow holding RMB without aborting). Use ability with LMB or abort with retapping and holding RMB which switches back to ADS (this may be harder to implement)
Same as above but a second tap on the ability key aborts it
Iād surely prefer the first option (which is like it is now but without the āauto-cancelā thing). Iām not a fan of having to use the ability key to cancel it.
This, as well as unable to move in OPR every times I try to shoot with bow, my character stood completely still. There are so many bow bugs this patch.
Honestly, I am not quite sure. I just feel that they want to nerf the Bow by forcing us Bow Mains to adapt to those kind of changes rather than straight out nerfing abilities. Thatās how I see it, while at the same time it adds some skill expression to Bow, since you can shoot faster after mastering how to use the abilities after the change.
Hmm, after playing for a few days after posting on here, it seems like the problem where the bow shoots a phantom shot (plays the sound effect but doesnāt actually shoot) is still happening as well. So between that problem still being there, and this problem messing up my aiming, it makes the bow incredibly frustrating to play. Now not only do I have phantom shots, but also have some shots that donāt fire because I donāt shoot it fast enough, or some shots that donāt fire because I shoot it too fast. Having 3 things blocking me from shooting a dang arrow now really sucks and hope it is addressed in the future update.
